The business has been under new management for a while, and I just decided to try them again. Have to admit that this was partly due to laziness. The thought of having to shlep my kid after day care to 8th Avenue to pickup laundry didn’t appeal to me especially with all the holiday stuff I had to deal with. Anyway, the shirts came back a little better than what I could’ve done with an iron. One shirt still had a stain on it, and all in all, there were still visible wrinkles. They didn’t feel like the fresh crisp shirts that I would get from other cleaners. And at $ 1.95/shirt, they were on par or even a little more expensive than the Korean place on 8th Ave. It’s a shame, since this place is in my neighborhood, …but never again.

I was using this dry cleaning primarily because of the convenient location, although I was always cautious to clean anything more or less expensive there because of inconsistent quality. A couple of times I picked up the clothes that still had stains, so I just made sure that I was checking the work before picking up the stuff. Oh well, I was just being lazy trying to save myself some time. I stopped using them entirely, however, after usually very nice lady who works there added additional amount to my original receipt saying that the person who gave me the receipt made a mistake. I made a remark that I should not be paying for their mistakes after the fact and possibly would choose not to dry clean that specific item if I was notified about the price in advance(which I still would just to save time). Her response was: «Don’t try to be smart here with me». Wow! And I was their regular customer. No more… There is no excuse for rude service.

Happy Cleaners are very friendly and courteous. I have taken many items to them for tailoring. They do great work shortening dresses, sleeves and pants. However, they have made so many mistakes I have lost count: clothing to be ironed that is handed to me in the same condition as I brought it in; pants to be taken in where the self-belt was sewn into the belt loop; a blouse that was repaired came back with a missing bottom button that should have been sewn on. The work is overall careless and imprecise. Items were misplaced, or I was not given a ticket, on other occasions. I have been to many wonderful tailors in Brooklyn who all have u unfortunately retired. Happy is the worst tailoring service I’ve used, and I am looking to go elsewhere.

They’re very nice here, but I don’t go to a dry cleaner for nice. I’m no suit & tie guy. I do not go to dry cleaner more than a few times a year, yet somehow this place has screwed up on me a number of times. Once they ironed out the crease in a pair of pants & told me they got ‘em like that. They had another excuse about me rushing them(which I didn’t) on a shirt which is why it came back yellow & freshly stained. I had ‘em fix a zipper, I watched the lady specify a metal zipper on the job ticket. It came back with an ugly plastic zipper on it too weak to zip the coat up. Strike three folks. From now on I’m gonna have to hop the subway for my occasional dry cleaning visits.
