Since going natural in 2012, I only go to Jose for trimming and straightening my hair. Jose and his assistant Carmen are the best! Jose gave me my big chop and my hair is growing so long and healthy. The shop is welcoming and Jose is such a great person to know. He is a joy to talk to and helped me so much through the process of transitioning my hair. I don’t live close, but it is worth the trip.

Sometimes really great businesses aren’t starring on Unilocal and it’s so unfortunate that we may miss out on some really good experiences.
I needed to wash my hair but I wanted to get it professionally done. I got my butt off Unilocal and took to the street. Found this spot and realize that although they’re on Unilocal,they’ve never come up in my searches for hair salons in the neighborhood.
J (my name for him) the technician who greeted me at the door was friendly and knowledgeable. This is a perfect example that we should never judge a book by its cover because I never expected this quiet looking, spanish guy to be so in tuned with black hair. After we discussed what I wanted, I asked my trick question (a test I always conduct on my first consultation with a hairstylist), he passed! It was when he pulled out his portfolio and showed his previous work that I was 89% sold. By the time I left the shop they had earned themselves a new client.
Carmen his assistant, treated my head/​hair as if she wasn’t skilled with detangling natural black hair especially my type which is a coily 4C and B. She was the first person to attend to me and I didn’t appreciate the painful pulling and tugging. However, after I complained, SHE EASED up and the after shampoo detangling session was muuuuuch better.
J, explained what he was doing step by step. He promoted his business and products without being pushy and the price he quoted me never changed even after he offered and gave me a lil trim. He was very warm and I felt comfortable. I felt like I’d known him a long time.
Their classy, friendly clientele range in ages from tweens to mature woman in their 60s.
