Love it, love everything about it. Was visiting NYC, hooked up with an old friend. Turns out this is her local watering hole. We sat out back, drank beers for longer than I care to think about. Great bar atmosphere, good barkeeps. Wish I’d gotten to stay longer in order to hang out more.

It’s comforting to know that Freddy’s survived, albeit in a different location, the onslaught of Ratner and his puppets within Brooklyn’s political class. This is the type of place you imagine when you think of a welcoming, friendly neighborhood bar. I’ve been here numerous times and always walk away with a warm feeling, which is an accomplishment in this city, trust me. It’s a multifaceted venue, and the back room has been host to everything from indie music bands to standup comedy, as well as periodic theme nights hosted by a good friend. The service is accommodating, the drinks reasonably priced, and the food pretty decent for bar food, especially the generous chicken finger portions available. Plus, there’s a cozy outdoor patio! I can’t urge you strongly enough to visit Freddy’s if/when you’re in the south Slope.

Just happened to walk by this place and we decided to stop in for a beer. They didn’t have live music, but the space itself is really cool. The bartender was chill and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Will definitely back for the music.

If you ever wanted to live a full life with the nitty gritty Brooklyn experience, you should make your way to Freddie’s now. The lineup is always good, wether it’s Raphael McGregor on the slide guitar in the back room or Cringe, everyone wins. Decent beer selection and old school awesome all the time.

Stopped in for a quick bite with my son. Did the kiebassa bites app, very good! Light and crunchy Phillo type dough, around kiebassa made down the block. We both went with burgers, with various toppings. Not bad at all, but nothing to say I had to go back and try again. The fries were more on point than the burgers. I believe this is more of a bar/music venue over eating establishment, so I’d like to come back for that scene over coming for lunch.

This bar is kind of the epitome of… a perfect bar. Dark, cheap drinks, great sitting and standing space. The staff is unbelievably friendly. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to sit in on any of the shows they have going on but I only hear good things. Lotta funny knick knacks hidden about the place too. You’ll definitely enjoy your time here.

Very cool local South Slope bar which also serves food. Check out the aquarium in the back of the bar. They have some crazy looking frogs swimming around. They serve food out of the kitchen window area. The food is good and open late. Pay for the food, get your ticket, and pick it up in a few mins. Sort of self service. Live music is great here also.

I came here about a week ago just to do something with my girlfriend I was so pleasantly surprised The bar is clean and nicely done. The staff seemed friendly enough. But I had the most fun listening to the hilarious line up. There were about 7 – 8 comedians. No cover no minimum drink and so many laughs. Usually when you attend something like this you hope to catch a couple of laughs but here we got a load. We laughed about it after and the next day. The room is a bit small but it wasn’t packed. They serve some food like basics wings and fries stuff like that. I would definitely come back here.

Atmosphere: Dark, quiet, little spot with local bands playing some tunes and drinks that will warm you up in the winter. There is a tank with fish and frogs and let me tell you, those frogs are CREEPY. They don’t move and just stare out at you for hours, but it makes for slightly tipsy amusement. Drinks: Had some cocktail with champagne and st. germain which was pretty on point. We bought shots for the birthday girl and the bartender was unsatisfied with how he made the shots, so he gave it to us on the house, even though we thought they were still bomb. Cheers to you, Mr. Nice Bartender! Food: I arrived sadly after everyone ate, but I am sure it is typical bar bites. Quesadillas, tater tot nachos, and other finger food fried snacks can be found on the menu. Overall: I recommend for a low key friday or saturday night if you want to catch up with some friends, eat something fried, drink something tasty, and chill with some immobile frogs.

Great time on a recent Sunday. Not crowded, so much as lively. Got a booth right away. Kitchen window service means you don’t have to wait around for service. Veggie burger($ 10), chicken wings($ 8 for 6 wings), and sausage sandwich(~$ 10) were all on point. Well cooked. Big, big portions. Had some $ 4 draft beers, and $ 2PBR. Nice beer selection. Free music began at 4pm, and they have bands and comedy acts coming through all the time. A great neighborhood spot that I will frequent.

I had a few drinks here the other night with some friends. Good experience over all. The drinks were really good & I loved the atmosphere! It was cozy — dark and intimate lighting. I stuck with whiskey gingers. The place wasn’t huge but could fit a lot of people comfortably. I would go back!

Myself and about 20 graduate students came here for end of semester drinks at 12PM. The bar itself is so much fun. You have funny signs, great atmosphere and fun games every where your eye can see. The food was yummy and cheap. Bartender, Ellen, was marvelous. We had so much fun and I hope to come here again for all of our end of semester drinking. This place was a pure gem. I wish I lived in the area so that I can come here all of the time.

Love it here! Stopped by to end the night twice in the last month or so. $ 4 Yuenglings and a very chill atmosphere. I love the art everywhere. There was an artist talking about his work in the back room which was a nice touch. I’ll be back for sure.

Pretty weird place. Not a bad weird, just weird. Everyone was friendly and I like how they answer their phone. It’s definitely a dive bar. Super eclectic décor. You put your food order in to the kitchen and its CASHONLY. My boyfriend got a cheeseburger and fries that was pretty good and I got tater tots with cheese sauce and bacon that were exactly how you’d expect them to be. We were in and out pretty quickly, just really hungry really late and they serve food until 2. Quick and convenient.

First off, I could never find a bar in brooklyn that carried Abita. I was super ecstatic when I learned that they did! Secondly, i can live off of their tater tots smothered in heaven. Yes. Yes, I can. Get the«Tots A’ La Freddy», they are covered in love, aka: bacon, cheese, gravy and scallions. I have never had a bad experience at Freddy’s. The bartenders are awesome, the food is fabulous, and live events occur basically every night here. You can be certain you’ll have a great time when you arrive.

Had a great time, great food, good camaraderie & excellent service. This is the«new» Freddy’s. The«old» Freddys daughter, Gail, waitress, Anna & the first female bartender, Diane(me). Went to check it out. Déjà vu! Same bar, booths & ceiling. Entertainment, HAPPYHOUR& an A++ baetender, Saskia! The old generation definitely approved the new generation!

Came here last night at a part of a Brooklyn Beer crawl that Ingrid S. and I decided to embark on to celebrate President’s Day. I’m pretty sure that this is how George Washington would have wanted us to celebrate the legacy of our founding fathers… or something. We met up here for dinner with Anna F. as we rounded up our day of yummy craft brew antics. I ended up going with a Guinness because the draft beer selection here really isn’t very impressive. Things that I did like a lot about this bar is the overall décor — lot’s of strange, funky things all over the walls, ceiling and they have an aquarium! I love all things nautical, sea related and fishieeeeees. Things that aren’t very great and resulted in my knocking off a Unilocal star include: Cash Only. It’s 2015, I still don’t understand why so many places refuse to realize this. I’d even be happy paying with Venmo… or maybe one say Apple Pay with actually catch on with small businesses, lol. Beer selection… yeah, yeah, yeah — I won’t harp on it, but after going to so many places yesterday I was a little disappointed. I love Guinness but I get really excited about trying new beers and there was no newness here. Guess that’s not entirely their fault but there could be more creativity behind the curating of their beer list… Food-wise Anna F. got a cheese burger with a side of house fries and Ingrid S. and I went with their Philly Cheese Steaks. I ordered it with only meat and cheese and Ingy went for the whole shebang which included grilled onions and red peppers. Anna’s cheese burger was pretty huge and looked really juicy. My Philly Cheesesteak was pretty delicious and served on a nice fluffy hero. My house fries were crunchy and surprisingly delicuous — not because I wasn’t expecting them to be good, but because they came dusted with herbs and parmesan cheese. That was unexpected and I was overjoyed because who doesn’t like french fries dusted with cheese?! Lol. I also feel like I should point out that Freddy’s is rated 4.5 out of 5 stars on TripAdvisor and also ranked 258 out of 4,343 Restauants in Brooklyn. They make this clear both on their website and in their back-kitchen/food ordering area. Overall I enjoyed hanging out at this bar and would totally visit again!

So about how Freddy’s Bar is my most favorite bar on the planet. Why may you ask? Well first of all the staff is super friendly, which is always a major plus in my book. They have food all night long, crab rangoons tater tots, wings, mini hot dogs… they’re all good normally and beyond amazing if you’re drunk. I could bring my dog if I felt like it, he cries when I leave so depending on the level it breaks my heart would determine if I bring him or not. They have live music sometimes which is cool if you want to dance and you can usually get a seat. Just go to Freddy’s it’s an awesome place, but remember to bring cash since it is cash only.

Beard city. I think it’s a requirement that any man entering this establishment must have a beard. Anyway, down to business. We came here on a Saturday around six in the evening. It was a good crowd, and the bartender gave us prompt service and attention. The happy hour was cheap. I didn’t pay, but I think the the drinks were around $ 4 or $ 5 bucks for happy hour. They have crazy movies playing in the background, and a loop of a cat drinking water. It will trip you out. The bartender told us the name of the cat. The thirst is real. The bathroom was clean, which is a big deal in my book. I didn’t eat anything, but they have a full kitchen, if you’re up for some pub fare. In the back, they have a cute littel room where you can watch movies or listen to live music. There was a guy playing the guitar and singing the night we went. One of the owners stopped by and was very hands on with the staff, not afraid to go behind the bar and make sure everything is up to par. He even gave them a refresher on stacking the pint classes with ice. When he was done, my friend asked him about it, and he explained the purpose was not only science but also aesthetics. He was really nice and down to earth, not stuck up. Moral of the story, don’t judge a bar by its beards. It was a fun night, and I can’t wait to go back.

Suuuch a cool bar. While visiting my friend in Brooklyn she suggested heading here for a few drinks and since this is her hood, I figured she knew best. She did. Friendly bartenders, great cocktails, awesome beer selection on tap and the décor and vibe is awesome. The music playing only added to the night… Morphine? The Lemonheads? Pixies? Hello awesome throwback remix. Would totally go back and hope to on a return visit to Brooklyn.
