This place drives me crazy, so much so I’m actually writing a Unilocal review. Their meat and cheese is great that is true, but this store makes me truly embarrassed to have to admit being part of the wave of gentrification in Bushwick. Its $ 4 for a baguette. Yes its a slightly better quality than the ones sold by Mominette’s bakery on Central Ave but not THAT much better. Not 3 or 4 times better. Their small cappuccino was more expensive than the place on Wilson Ave that literally roasts its own beans in their shop and also has some of the best baristas I have ever drank coffee from. How do you reason that? I mean I’m used to cheese and meat stores in Brooklyn being insanely priced so I was ready to forgive them but everything in this store just seems absurdly out of any normal person’s price range. My favorite part is so far every time I’ve gone in there the staff always makes sure to finish their conversations with each other before acknowledging my existence. Am I back at Sarah Lawrence? But great cheese!

Great cheese and meat selection. The girl at the counter was very informative and helpful when i described what kind of cheeses i wanted. Her suggestions hit the nail on the head! Prices were fair and comparable to other cheese shops i have been to in the city.

A very welcome and necessary addition to the neighborhood. The staff are exceptional and the quality of meats, cheese, and awesome produce is better than what we had to trek into the city for. Love sitting at the counter with a breakfast sandwich while people watching or just grabbing an iced coffee on my way to work. We also pick up one of their whole chickens to roast at least once a week– perfect every time!

Got some of the best cuts of pork I’ve ever eaten. Chicken and beef is impeccable too. Breads, cheese selection, and the pastries outstanding. Service is friendly, but I wouldn’t describe it as warm, though this depends on whose doing the serving. The place feels a bit spare and a bit cold but that could be easily improved.(Compare it to say Marlow & Sons, which always felt super warm and homey. Ah, the old days of Williamsburg.) All that is minor though and I’m psyched on the whole to have this place in the neighborhood. Here’s my big beef(so to speak): the tipping on check out, which defaults to 20% or 25%. This is not a restaurant. Never have I been compelled to tip a butcher or gourmet grocery store that much except through a tip jar. If I spend $ 50 on pork chops, I don’t know want to pay another $ 10 or $ 12.50 for a tip? Or suffer the dirty looks or guilty feeling that follows when you don’t. You can’t win. Either you feel punked or like a skinflint. It really does leave a bad taste in your mouth and makes you not want to go back just to avoid that shitty feeling. I do dig this place and think it has great potential. But I really think this tipping situation has to be changed. In short, I would much rather the tip be built into the price. Don’t make your customer volunteer to pay labor costs.

This review is only for the iced coffee and bacon, egg and cheese. And holy crap is the bacon, egg and cheese somehow worth the $ 8 you have to pay. The bacon is thick cut and crisp and greasy and amazing. The biscuit it comes on is buttery and flakey and delicious. Eggs and cheese are good too, but we both know who the real stars are. The iced coffee is good, too! Nothing special and $ 3, but they have almond milk at no extra charge. Haven’t tried any of the meats, cheese or other sandwiches, but they have an aged Gouda that I have literally been looking for for weeks, so that alone will make me come back.

Great staff and great selection. I got 4 lbs of a good cut for about $ 50 not exactly within my budget usually but I splurged on the food stuff. The gentleman at the meat counter was very knowledgable and helpful for sure. The lovely guy at the register was also a peach. Good peeps, good food. Haven’t tried sandwiches or coffee but I am sure those are great too!

I bought their Miso Ramen-kit just to find out at home at its 2 days passed the date. Its my fault I didn’t check the date before purchasing it. My bad for trusting no one would put 2days bad food on their shelves. So be careful when you shop here.

Excellent sandwiches on the menu now. We ordered the Reuben and grilled cheese, both were fantastic. Also ordered a biscuit with honey and butter, and was probably one of the best biscuits I’ve ever had.

Really like the look and idea behind this place but their price point is a bit ridiculous. Sandwiches are $ 12-$ 14 and come unaccompanied(add a pickle and chips for $ 1.50). Factor in a drink, tax and tip and I ended up paying nearly $ 20 for lunch. The sandwich was good but no more so than those you can get in similar neighborhood establishments for less.

Crazy that 5 years ago, this spot was a not-so-appetizing KENNEDY fried chicken(Bushwick wasn’t fancy enough for a Kentucky fried chicken spot). But the times, they are a’changin’. This place is a hipster’s dream. they have various dairy free ice creams, fancy siracha and 5 different kinds of organic oranges. The cheese & meats selection is lovely; I am truly a fan. I’ll chalk it up to the place being new, but it took a half hour for me to get a bacon, egg & cheese on a biscuit that I was told was only going to take 5−10min. When it came out, the biscuit was burnt and didn’t stay together enough for me to actually eat. I’ll have to give this place another try once they iron out the kinks.

I’m like Toucan Sam when it comes to certain pleasures in life like cheese, bread, beer and coffee and Foster & Sundry has most of these things. There’s a curated selection of cheeses! And the bonus is they normally have a little sample area highlighting one of the cheeses. There’s fresh fruit that looks so perfect that it almost doesn’t look real. Extra fancy pantry items from high class salts to decadent hot chocolates. I love that this specialty shop also serves as a coffee shop serving up steaming cups of Parlor coffee. The counter has there gorgeous packaged beans, with a Virgin Mary candle and a small bouquet. And the fun doesn’t stop there, there’s homemade caramels and candies at the check out too. And like s mouse lured by the cheese, I am always snatching up a load of L’Imprimerie bread also laid by the coffee counter. Was super helpful to bag it up with an extra plastic bag for freshness. And even though this lovely shop is ahead of its time with the neighborhood I’m looking forward to treating myself with nice ingredients. I do hope they add a fish selection since that is something I struggle with finding in Bushwick.

I’ve been here twice. It is one of the places you can walk in and guarantee you will receive the best customer service and helpful tips, in addition to AMAZING meat(haven’t tried cheese yet). The first time I got a piece of steak, and the second I decided to try something new and bought duck breast. I was convinced by the guy who helped me(sorry didn’t get your name!) that duck breast was easy to cook — and he was absolutely right. This place has given me the confidence that I can cook, and I am loving my rekindled interest in cooking.

This review is really only for the meat and service. The meat is good, yo. SOGOOD. I buy 4 of the leg quarters like clockwork every week. They don’t even need seasoning. A little salt and pepper and a quick bake and they’re heavenly. The people who work there are great too. But TBH, I’d deal with assholes for such good meat.

Pretty expensive spot, but sometimes you need the goods and this spot can deliver. I picked up grass fed, dry aged ribeyes here and they were great on flavor and quality. They were about $ 50 each with tax and a tip to the helpful butcher. The equivalent steak at a restaurant will run you $ 145 — $ 200 depending on where you go to get it. Around the corner at the store you can get a decent rib-steak or a t-bone which will do the trick most of the time, but it’ll never be close to the quality cuts you can get at Foster. I’ll be back soon for cheeses, and all the other goods.

Haven’t wrote a Unilocal review in a long time. But this place is really Unilocal worthy! The butcher was super knowledgable and gave great cooking suggestions. At the beginning, I thought the meat was a bit pricey(compared to supermarket similar quality meat) but after cooking it and devouring it… It was absolutely incredible! The chicken breast was so tender, juicy, soft, just amazing! Honestly both my boyfriend and I thought it was one of the best chicken we have had! The sirloin steak was also really good! Still need to cook up the herb sausages… Overall, really glad this new place opened and will defiantly be back for more! Oh, also they have bread from l’imprimerie! Not sure if they have their amazing lemon poppy seed cake…

If the L train does indeed stop going into Manhattan for years on end, I won’t even care because Foster Sundry will be here for us. There are lots of solid grocery options in the neighborhood, but for us, FS is filling in the some very specific cheese and meat gaps. I can endorse the following: high quality unconventional cuts(trotters, oxtail), whole chicken, bacon, topo chico mineral water(first sighting in BK), green beans, Gotham Greens, the seed and sourdough loaves of bread from l’Imprimerie, pimento cheese potato chips, butter, any of the candy at the register, and coffee made by Barista Owen. Also, cheese. I endorse all of the cheese(and taking home a while wheel of epoisses).

Finally, the cheese and dairy gods have answered our calls! The border of Bushwick and Ridgewood have received an amazing gift this holiday season, and it’s come in the form of a beautiful cheese and meat shop. Foster Sundry is walking distance from Maria Hernandez park, so this spring, definitely expect to see me brown bagging some fine cheeses in public. The cheese counter is HUGE and full of just about every type of cheese your lactose loving heart could dream of. The cheese monger will totally hook you up too, so if you’re in the mood for something specific, just let her know! The meat counter wasn’t fully stocked for our visit, but I’m expecting that it will be pretty soon. The kitchen in the back looks huge and there’s even a seating area, a few groceries for sale, and a coffee bar. They also sell baked goods from neighborhood bakery, L’imprimerie. It’s great to see local businesses supporting and uplifting each other and Rus and I are going to be really happy patrons of this place. During our first visit, the cheese monger helped us pick out a goat cheese and treated us to some samples. We got a pretty nice chunk(about ¼ of a pound) for about $ 8. Pretty affordable! Foster Sundry, I welcome you with open arms. So glad that I’ll no longer have to trek all the way out on the L for good cheese. A more affordable option is now right around the corner from where I live. Hooray for cheese!
