When I moved to Brooklyn, first thing I had to do was find a barber. I went to a spot about 3 blocks from First Impressions, had 3 chairs looked very old school. They jacked my head up for $ 12 bucks. Had me looking Like Lebron 2 years ago. About a month later, I searched for barber shops online and found this place. My man Marc saved my hair line! He is precise, professional, cool as hell, and cares about the work. Don’t get me wrong, everyone there seems to have the same attitude, but I never met a barber that will literally text his customers if he won’t be in the shop, so you don’t come in for nothing! Shoutout to Marc & First Impressions, never a bad cut since!

Do not expect professional service here! I made an appointment with Yasmine after getting a referral from a co-worker. We spoke on 12⁄22 about me having an appointment on 1⁄7 and I confirmed on 1⁄5. My appointment was for 8am even though I live on the Upper West in Manhattan and it is an hour each way. I arrived at 8 and the salon was closed. I called Yasmine and she said someone should be there to open the salon and she would be there ‘shortly’. I had to sit on the neighboring stoop in the cold until 8:25 when Yasmine’s assistant and another client showed up. I sat in the waiting area and was then told by the assistant that she would get me started and to go to a chair. I thought this meant she would base me so that when Yasmine got there, I would be ready to go. No. She pulls out a container of relaxer, never asked me any questions about what I wanted, and tried to relax my hair. I told her no, that I was there for a consultation and relaxer with Yasmine. Her reply was that I would be waiting for a long time because she didn’t know when Yasmine would get there. Yasmine would not answer her phone or return my text so I left. So, even after making my appointment weeks in advance, my stylist was a no-show. Her assistant wanted to relax my hair without my permission or input. The client who arrived after me was there to have corrective services because her hair had been bleached within an inch of its life and was falling out. I wasted an entire Saturday morning traveling out to Brooklyn in the cold and came home mad with a messy head. Unbelievable.

Its a salon and barber shop. Can’t speak for the rest, but Marc is a genius with the clippers and scissors. After a shave and edge up to my scraggly face, I walk out of there feeling smooth, clean and all Slick Rick’d up(«fresh-dressed and a million bucks” – for those of you who are old-skool-hip-hopped-challenged).
