So I run into DSW in Gateway Mall in Brooklyn to do a return. Long lines. Only 2 cashiers open. Lots of staff milling about straightening up and looking around. Even the manager, seeing the long lines, comes up to the front then starts straightening up the sample shoes on top of shoe boxes on the displays, rather than help out up front. (FYI, the store was in neat shape and all of the micro straightening of shoes was just a waste of time). A lady behind me has to yell out and ask him to please have another register open up. He looks perplexed, then calls someone on his headset. Seriously? Poor customer service. Need to train your managers/​staff better. Decent selection, but time is money people!!!

I must say the experience started out good, when the sales person said «they could order the shoes in my size!» But if I have know it was gonna to take one month in a half to get the shoes I would not have order them.
The order went to the post office after they said they could not deliver the order. I send someone to pick up the shoes and the post office would not give the order because they stated it was not my name. So the cashier at the store who put the order in on-​line put all the information in wrong. I called to inquire and I spoke to a Ms. Kim Dahinger, manager customer experience & shoes lover (yeah right) stated that they was going to ship a pair of shoes to me at NO COST, because after all it was not my fault.
I finally got the shoes, but they never credit my account. The story end as this I took the shoes back to the store and I will NEVER BUY SHOES from this store AGAIN!

Worst experience ever. 3 cashiers on a warm Saturday afternoon in winter at 3:30 pm. Wrap around line with a manager standing staring at us with a smile on her face talking into her walkie. Couldn’t she have hopped on one of the 2 free registers? Sigh. Union Square location may be out of my way but the service there is superior!

One of the best DSW I have been too thus far. More selection than the location on Queens Boulevard in Elmhurst. Even though I spent more time on line than selecting some last minute flats for same day event.

I stopped in this particular DSW because I heard they had a grand opening sale that I must have missed. The set up is pretty similar to other DSW’S so I knew where to go first, all the way in the back to the clearance section. :-)
Buying items off season you can usually get a sale. The store itself was clean and thankfully it wasn’t crowded so I was able to browse the aisles in peace. The customer service was great with staff smiling and asking if you need help which was cool. I did get some sneakers for the gym and was able to use an old rewards coupon. This store is definitely a great addition to Gateway mall and I will return when I’m in the area.

I was not impressed by this location. Let me start off by saying I love DSW! And I expected that since this is a new location and I wet the day it opened I would get first dibs on some good shoes. However I was sadly disappointed. Maybe as time goes on they will get better inventory.
