Came here last night with friends for dinner. The food was good and the service was great. They are really attentive to the needs of their customers(refilling water, teapot, and quickly closing the door so the draft doesn’t come in).

3.5 stars. This is a very nice vegan Chinese restaurant with lovely décor. The food for the most part is quite tasty, although the«ham» is kind of nasty. The summer rolls are absolutely delicious, as is the avocado/mountain yam tartar, and the tom yum soup is fantastic: better than at any of the local Thai places. My one complaint is that the menu is a bit heavy on soy protein. I just wish there were more fresh vegetable options and more dishes that were not seitan-based.

I must have walked past this place a thousand times and didn’t know that it was vegan Asian good. Delicious! I had the citrus soy protein on kale and it was delightful. Will be back!

One of my favorite restaurants that also happens to be a vegan spot. I pretty much always get the smoked seitan with snowpea entrée, the seitan has a crisp outer layer and is covered with a sweet teriyaki type glaze. Delicious!

Love that everything is veggie and I can eat anything and everything. The fried basil rice is some of the best fried rice I have had. Super dumplings and scallion pancakes. Loved the tempura though it didn’t seem to have any taro(my fav starch).

I believe their seamless rating is doctored and completely phony. It took them an hour to deliver, so the food came cold, without the drink I’ve ordered, and no utensils. When I asked to get my drink, they simply told me it’s better to cancel that for a refund, since it’ll take too long for them to deliver it anyway.

Food was pretty good, and hey — it’s vegan, yay! Taking stars off for unfriendly staff and no WiFi, and $ 15 credit card minimum. It also kind of weirds me out when Asian places play Christmas music haha. I liked their sauces — pretty low-sodium to my taste. They have good prices for lunch specials, but I wouldn’t pay the dinner price for what I experienced here. They deliver.

I ordered from Dao Palate last night on seamless and they sent me a slice of cheesecake with two furry mold spots growing on it. When I complained, they refunded me just for the slice of moldy cheesecake and not the whole order. I’ve ordered from them many times before without a problem, but this is totally disgusting and a health code violation to be sure. The thought that someone cut that piece and put it in a container for delivery is completely astonishing to me. I’ll never order from these guys again, and am posting photos now.

I’m pretty sure the ramen was simply over-done spaghetti. I was starving so it was fine, but this place wasnt serving asian food. It was nice inside though.

I usually love this place! HOWEVER I recently ordered delivery and this time my noodles & veggie dumplings DIDNOT taste good. Barely eatable honestly. Also I watched the delivery man spit on the rug outside of my apartment, and when I opened the door and said«thank you, have a good night!» He just stared at me and walked away. Overall, a very unappealing experience. I don’t think I’ll be ordering from Dao Palate again.

The teriyaki seitan was absolutely amazing. A great mix of sweet and slightly nutty flavors with a combination of crispy and soft textures that I have never experienced before. You can pick out a bottle of wine to bring and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere. I went there to try their lunch specials and am definitely getting their dinner sized teriyaki seitan very soon

Pretty good food… A pretty direct copy of Zen Palate. It’s not really as good, but they deliver to my house and it’s still pretty delicious. Knocking a star for the quality… The sauces tend to be overly sweet for my taste(unlike Zen Palate, whose recipes they seem to have copied). Knocking another star for the delivery service. This is a weird thing to say, but the delivery guy is a rude buzzer… meaning that he immediately starts ringing the buzzer a million times for like 3 minutes… to the point where I’m trying to buzz him in and he won’t stop ringing the buzzer(which is a pretty annoying sound). On top of that, he wouldn’t walk upstairs to hand me my food, so I walk downstairs and he’s looking at his phone, making no eye-contact and after I grab the bag out of his hands, he walks away without saying a word. I had ordered on Seamless and already tipped him well, but really wished I could have rescinded the tip.

***Yelp does not actually have the complete menu. My friends and I dined here for dinner on a Sunday night. Although it was relatively empty, we were impressed with how delicious the food was, especially for vegan cuisine. I will mention that we noticed they made quite a few takeout deliveries. What we ordered(literally every dish tasted great): appetizers — Steamed Spinach Shumai, Scallion Pancake, Curry Samosas, mains — Sweet Citrus Soy Protein, Pad Thai(would highly recommend), drinks — Pomegranate Rose Tea, Dessert — Raspberry White Chocolate Vegan Cheesecake, Mango Sorbet(actually tasted pretty creamy).

Summer — the perfect season for romance, lemongrass and mango sorbet. So why not combine these three and bring your love interest to this hidden vegetarian Thai heaven on Flatbush? Here’s your three-step seduction plan: [Step 1] Order the Tom Yum Soup. This bold and beautiful classic at Dao Palate is the best I’ve ever had of its kind. Oh boy, the moment this passionate potion hits your tongue, the tartness of the lemongrass and the warmth of the chili will instantly melt you into a doe-eyed kitten. Speaking of first impression, guys! [Step 2] Order something creamy and gentle(read: coconut) to balance off the soup. I made the mistake of getting green papaya salad as a chaser. The salad tasted rather bland after the soup. So take note! [Step 3] Order Mango Sorbet to top it off. We agreed on this at the beginning of this review. All my empty plates are cleared within 10 seconds. Water is also instantly refilled, which is super important in summer. The entire menu is vegan so I can’t wait to bring all my friends here. Now I know where to go when I forget again that Guido is closed on Mondays.

If you are a fan of seitan, this is the place for you! A wide selection of vegan and vegetarian food, Itms going to be hard to choose what to have. The rice was perfect and brown. The seitan… that was real good!

Alert: This place is rad for vegans, vegetarians and almost vegetarians(like me) who are looking for a spot that DELIVERS and ACCEPTSCREDITCARDS. Puh-lease. ONLY3.5 stars for this place? It completely supersedes Wild Ginger AND delivers far and wide(in Brooklyn). It is my safe and foolproof delivery joint. I’m giving it 5 stars for its convenience. Accepts credit cards, wide delivery area, great menu items(but be discerning, some are excellent, others just good), great customer service. If you have not ordered here in recent history, try again — because the item I am about to discuss is new. (Wait, I digress. There are some items that are just OK, but don’t order them). Ok, have you even *tried* the«Crispy Soy Protein with Savory Tomato Sauce over Kale???» I really cannot describe it(it is clearly a favorite on Seamless, MenuPages, etc…). The breading of the round and flat soy nuggets is delicately flavored and it sits on a bed of spicy sauce and kale. It’s superb. Oh, also order the«Scallion Pancakes with Homemade Mango Salsa». That is always a must in my household. Add one of their fresh fruit/veggie juices. Really good and refreshing. Last but not least? The Peanut Butter Bomb!!! PLEASE, just order it. Carnivores will be shocked, everyone can indulge together. It is decadent without that nauseous throat feeling that one often gets when eating too much chocolate. When we order it, we savor the flavor for 2 – 3 days. A gem of a vegan dessert. Also a favorite item on seamless, MenuPages… Other tried and tested dishes that are great(probably not as good as the aforementioned): –Stir-fried flat noodle with Chinese broccoli –Eggplant and String Beans in Garlic Sauce –Vegetable Medley Lettuce Wraps — for the carb averse

Whatchu know about Dao? Dao/Taoism is all about a philosophical sense of harmony, the kind of good vibes you’ll be enjoying when you eat at this vegan Chinese spot. We’ve only ever ordered takeaway here, but I’m so glad we did because I’ve passed the restaurant and never known what lay just beyond the doors– turns out it was tofu! Living in Prospect Lefferts/Crown Heights, I’ve seen my fair share of greasy, unhealthy vegetarian food. Not a big fan. Dao is a breath of fresh air in the vegan/vegetarian takeaway scene. I love that the food is full of flavor, not sugar or gooey sauce. Here’s the 411: –Sweet and Sour Sesame Protein/“Chicken”: Fresh tasting produce(not soggy or sad!) including red pepper, broccoli, and mangos. Sauce was a bit light, but I thought the protein had a ton of flavor, tangy/sour/sweet/delicious. As an «entrée» it comes with rice and a soup/salad. Pretty great deal. –Korean Style Glass Noodles: Huge portion, really interesting umami flavor, perfect texture on the noodles. –Spring Rolls: Crunchy, not greasy, and great plum sauce! Pro tip: Unilocal says they don’t deliver to me(Empire/Bedford), but they will if you call. Delivery win, yes!
