I lived in the neighborhood since 2008 and was stoked to get a coffee shop right below my apartment to work in. That said, I really disliked being snickered at and stared at as if I had a third eye growing out of my head every time I went in there. I came in with marks on my arm from cupping and guasha done by my acupuncturist and they’d literally give my husband looks every time he came in or ourside. Nothing but nice to these dudes and met again and again with a shit pretentious attitude. Except for the tall guy in the LA Rangers hat, he was pretty much the nicest. That said the coffee was kind of amazing and I miss it but I don’t miss the permanent scowl from Jeremy in his APC jeans, Warby Parkers. I wish he’d drive his damn scooter into the sunset. I thought it was just me until I had a client come in to visit me and say that he was ACTUALLY treated nice there one day(on my client’s last day in brooklyn before he moved on to greener pastures). You would think, for someone that wants money from customers they would be bother to be nicer.

They’ve closed off half the space for the kitchen and food prep so it’s not the sit-and-linger type of coffee shop anymore. Given the changes in space and the fact that their coffee remains the most expensive in the area, it’ll take some serious consideration to get me to come back here again.

A nifty little coffee shop and café with cozy décor. Notably, they do not have a bathroom available for patrons(just in case you wanted to know). The only thing I had here was tea — which was very delightful — but I would like to come back to try their food menu.

Crosby is the friendliest coffee shop, in the friendliest neighborhood in Brooklyn. Jeremy the owner has put great efforts in to making Crosby, not just a place to get a great cup of coffee, but also to give the best customer service. The place is staffed by a bunch of great young people who are intelligent, who always play great music, and are fun to talk to, and hang with. Crosby is worth the trip regardless of where in Crown Heights you live. When you visit tell them Jack– Chocolate Chip Muffin sent you. If you have any questions about anything ask Andrew. His knowledge of everything old or new in music is encyclopedic. Enjoy.

So let me clarify. They were doing some renovations for a long time(a LONG time) while keeping the storefront open, so I initially thought that their choice to replace the old seating with the horrendous new seating was temporary. Nope! This is actually what they decided on. They basically took half of the store space and gave it over to employees, thereafter cramming all the customers onto a skinny little bar with squatty metal stools. It’s impossible to sit comfortably here for more than twenty minutes. And I’ve seen the chintzy pressed-wood bar break TWICE in the past few weeks, just from people leaning on it! What’s really discouraging is that I think it was their game plan all along to create an unwelcoming space. They just really don’t want people lingering with their work, despite the fact that«lingerers» spend a lot of money, and despite the fact that a full storefront generates buzz and a perception of quality among potential take-away customers. Obviously Crosby is trying to bring in more revenue with a kitchen space, but surely they could have solved this customer seating problem with a more courteous, customer-forward mindset. Ah well. It’s their loss. I’ll be spending my money elsewhere.

It’s a very nice looking place. Full of daylight and tastefully designed. The coffee and pastries are both good. I live nearby and would love to have this be my regular spot. However… the baristas. The baristas here are obnoxiously despondent. They struggle mightily with the concept of acknowledging the existence of other humans. This has been pointed out in other reviews, but I believe these misguided souls are a product of their environment — that everything they say in everyday conversation is so soaked with sarcasm and bitterness that it’s impossible to discern when an earnest attempt at a nicety is made.

Ok, i’ve been sucked in. helps that i also now live a block closer. Pros: still a really pretty & bright space. i’d co-work there. latte is consistently good. Cons: Still more expensive than Glass Shop. Most of the baristas are unfriendly. They have a Crown Heights tshirt. I’m embarrassed.

Crosby is my hands down favorite café in the area. As some have said it’s not great if you want to have a conversation with friends, but I’m in school so for me it’s a perfectly quiet place with free wifi and $ 1 refills on what I think is great coffee where I can sit for literally five hours very happily. And I love the baristas!

Gist of this review: I will drink 8 cups of shitty bodega coffee as opposed to exposing myself to one more cup of mediocre coffee from this rude and pretentious establishment.: There have been two baristas that have served me on my visits to the café. Neither of them have been particularly great at saying hello or acknowledging one’s presence when entering the café or trying to order a coffee. Say hello please… it’s a common courtesy and you work in customer service. One of the baristas was particularly awful both times I visited. When I walked in, she was talking to her friend that was sitting near the cash register. I walked up as a customer was exiting and said goodbye to her, she rolled her eyes and said something to her friend before she looked over to me to see what I would like. She continued to talk to her friend about something that she found to be annoying while simultaneously filling my espresso with disdain. She talked to her friend throughout the monetary exchange and audibly expressed a comment on my tipping the remainder of the $ 3 i gave her for the $ 2.25 shot of espresso I ordered. Needless to say, it’s not worth going here. My coworkers have expressed similar sentiments in regards to both the demeanor of the workers and the quality of the coffee.

Hmm. I’ve been here a few times and want to love it, but I sit here now quite disappointed. Maybe it has to do with the barista, but my chai latte just tastes like a glass of milk and the yogurt & granola which other reviewers seem to rave about turns out to be plain yogurt & plain oats. That’s not granola. Not even a little honey, not to mention fruit? While the music & wi-fi are reliable, the actual food & drinks leave much to be desired, and the seating is awkwardly uncomfortable. What is this place? Wish I’d gone to Glass Shop…

Crosby Coffee is down the street from my apartment, so it would be awesome if I could make this MY coffee shop. As in, the one where everyone knows your name and you greet the barista who fixes up your cuppa joe without error or fanfare, you pays yer money and gets yer due. What it has going for it: I’ve met three of the baristas and two of them are nice. They usually play good music. They have wifi. The décor is nice. Unfortunately, the coffee is garbage. If it takes you as long to make an espresso drink as it does for you to pour the drip coffee, there is a problem. I am no coffee snob, trust me, but I drink it every day. I have come to recognize not what IS a good cup, but what ISN’T. The drip coffee is bland and watered down, and the latte, cortado, and red-eye that I tried were all severely lacking. It’s almost impressive that 4 out of 4 coffees have been not just«eh» but full-on bad. As some others have noted, it is kind of weird to sit at the benches because you’ll either be slouched funny and have your feet dangling, or be leaning oddly far back against the wall and have your feet dangling. I’ve also seen flies in the pastry case more than once. I wish I could say I’ll never come back, but they are 100 feet away from my front door, so I’ll probably go again and just be disappointed, again.

I like the sparse feel of this café, although I felt kind of out of place without a laptop in front of me. Luckily we were grabbing drinks to go and enjoyed our croissant on the bench outside. Cold brew was so-so. Not the rich flavor that cold brew should be. I got a tea that tasted off — probably the water that was used to make it. Like most of our café experiences on our trip to New York, the barista behind the counter seemed pretty disinterested in his job.

If you’re an avid tea drinker like myself, dont waste your time with this place. The cashier was rude!!! So was the douchebag patron waiting in line behind me. Want snooty, pretentious WASPy coffee, served up Gentrified Brooklyn style… go for it!!!

Crosby Coffee has become my new coffee spot since I moved in down the block earlier this month. It’s obviously super convenient for me, and I assume most of the people that are frequent customers live nearby. It’s a smallish shop, with seating for maybe 15 people. The décor is very rustic, clean, and bright. My only complaint is that it’s dead silent — nobody talks, there’s no music playing. Even when the shop is full, people mostly just use their laptops with headphones. It’s not really a place I could ever hang out or meet up with anyone. The coffee is good, it has a smooth taste and is less burnt tasting then many popular coffees. The tea selection is ok, and they make most(possibly all) of the tea from loose leaves as opposed to bags or concentrate. That’s a big plus for me. Also, they have a few flavored coffees and some non-dairy milk options. I haven’t had too much in the way of food, however I did get a blueberry muffin last week and it was incredible. Lots of blueberries, great consistency. I doubt they make their own pastries, but regardless they’re awesome. Crosby also offers sandwiches sometimes, and granola/yogurt/misc breakfast things. I’ll definitely be back, but mostly because it’s just so convienient.

Big fan of the coffee here. They make a fantastic iced mocha and equally as delicious cappuccino. When the weather is nice I like to bring my dogs and sit outside and enjoy the people watching. It’s definitely got the snobby coffee hipster vibe to it, but whatever. This seems like a great place to plug in and work, which appears to be what everyone comes here to do. No one really speaks just types. I also really enjoy the baked goods. Great muffins and scones– not sure where they come from, but they are always fresh and delicious.

While freshly invigorated Brooklyn seems to have coffee shops similar to Crosby popping up left and right, Crosby Coffee is a great spot with a great vibe, and it’s worth checking out. Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere? This is where it all really shines here at Crosby. From the trendy iPad cash register to the minimalist décor and seating, Crosby is the perfect spot to study, converse or just sit in peace with a latte. What more could you want in a coffee shop? Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? I honestly don’t know how all these places stay in business with Brooklyn overhead on the up, but $ 3.00-$ 5.00 for a cup of coffee/tea probably helps. It’s not ridiculous by any means, but it’s not bottom of the barrel. We’ll call it fair. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Chai is my daily go-to in the afternoon, and I really appreciated Crosby’s tactic. While I don’t know specifically what kind of sources leaves were used, the server took raw leaves and spices, put them in a custom bag, and boom, tea as fresh as it comes. It wasn’t the best tea I’ve ever had in my life, but it was good. My one recommendation to Crosby would be to increase the peripherals. Sure, I can slam a cup or two while reading a book, but I would have liked a slightly broader selection of pastries, cookies, etc. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? The product is good and the atmosphere is great, so Crosby is worth a look. However, there are so many nearby spots that I can’t say Crosby is my favorite. No Star Granted.

The owner here assumes his customers don’t know anything about coffee and treats them accordingly. The pour-over brew I had was mediocre and seemed over-extracted. The Yogurt /Granola cup was good and tasty(It seemed like the foodstuffs were curated well). The cramped space was sterile also… minimal white(which I usually like), but 100% laptop zone and no conversations.

This charming coffee spot recently opened up in Crown Heights, and it has yet to draw a huge crowd but definitely has a small following! On my first visit I was greeted warmly and ordered the iced coffee and doughnuts. The décor is clean and simple – when I visit I feel like I’m sitting in a modern farmhouse. Coffee was strong and everyone was friendly. I haven’t tried any of the sandwiches yet but the cookies and doughnuts get my vote. Will be hanging out here more often – also bless them for not having a credit card limit!
