This place can be a hit or miss from time to time. I really like the food, but so far I’ve only done take out and I have a gut feeling like their food(and experience) is overall better when you eat in. I’ll have to update my review once I’ve tried them that way.

I met some friends at Columbia on a week night. We sat at a table. We ordered guacamole, which was made right in front of us. It was very fresh and delicious. We also had the shrimp ceviche which was awesome. My friends had arroz on pollo and I had a beef stir fry. It had onions and other vegetables. The meat was cooked well and had a lot of flavor. They have a nice menu with many options. The drinks were also good. I can’t wait to come back and try the rest!

My girlfriend and I arrived here a little after 10pm on a Saturday night. I was surprised to find the place packed with all the tables occupied. As soon as we walked closer to the bar, a 2 top immediately stood up and told us to sit down. I was amazed at first, thinking that these random people were literally giving us their table mid meal, but my girlfriend quickly realized that these 2 guys were taking a break from working at the restaurant. Either way, it was pretty nice. We only ordered a few appetizers since we weren’t too hungry. We got the empanadas, pizza and guacamole. First of all, the amount of food was insane. These 3 appetizers could probably feed at least 6 people. The empanadas(which we got with corn flour) were crispy on the outside and hot and creamy on the inside. Very tasty! The guacamole was served with homemade plantain chips. Both were super flavorful and paired excellent together. The pizza was the strangest/most delicious thing there. At first we had no idea how to eat it. This is not your typical pizza. Since the toppings sit on squashed and then fried plantain, it’s pretty hard to pick up a piece of it. Make sure to use a fork(unless you don’t mind being covered and dripping with cheese or if you are an animal) and not your bare hands. Honestly friends, I did not have any hopes for this place, but I will be coming back here. The food was so damn good. Oh, you want to know if we ate it all? If you know me at all you wouldn’t be asking that. 2 people, a meal enough for 6… damn right we ate it all.

It’s our first time here. Ordered the #1 from the house special, forgot what’s the name of it though. It’s a platter with a little bit of everything, it’s nice to try everything. I really like their rice, cook just right. And the pork belly is really good too. Nice place!

HUGO. The owner is amazing. Went there for dinner with a couple buddies. Everything was great. GUACAMOLE. Will be going again. And surprisingly… I also had chicken Marsala. It was surprisingly good. And came with it rice, beans and sweet plantains. :-)

Great prices and authentic Colombian soul food. On the popular 5th avenue strip is this 40 seat columbian spot. I had a drink here so the liquor license is in full effect. Great for dinner any night, flavorful, reasonably priced and nice staff. Can’t go wrong if you’re in the mood for latin cuisine. I’ll definitely be back.

Ordered off for pick up. We we got there it wasn’t ready yet but they confused us with someone else’s order because they were about to give us an order that was similar and asked us to pay but we already payed online. Eventually we got our correct order and wasn’t a long wait. We had the arepa de choclo con queso, arroz con pollo y maduro, and forgot what was the dish name my wife had. The arepa was just delicious. Me and my wife ate that up so fast. It was sweet and cheesy. Just a delight for your palates. The arroz con pollo was good. Shrred chicken incorporated with the rice. With some sweet plantains on the side. A little dry but still good. For my wife’s dish, the beef was tough and hard to chew. Besides that the rice was a little flavored and everything else was good. Overall, The dishes are well made and portions are a good size. Would like to come back to try more of their food.

It’s about time for me to review this place. Have visited a half dozen times of more. I should disclose, I have lived in Colombia and know what traditional Colombian food is or isn’t. This place is an oasis among the mostly overpriced restaurant on Fifth Avenue. That being said, expect prices to be a few dollars more than what you’d find in Queens Colombian strongholds. My favorite dishes here are the bandeja paisa aka plato montañero and the bistec a la criolla(which you can get a caballo – with fried eggs on top – for $ 2 more.) La bandeja is a platter of thin steak, chicharrón – or crispy pork rind, avocado, sweet plantains, arepa – a white, grilled corn cake similar to pita bread in taste, rice, and beans. The bistec has a thick tomato-onion sauce on top of a stewed steak with potatoes, yuca, rice, beans, and salad on the side. This can only mean one thing: comfort food, plain and simple. The desserts, such as flan and tres leches cake, are on par with most Colombian restaurants. Bonus: while they have a decent sangria here, drinkers will be pleased to learn that they recently gained their liquor license, serving drinks like standard mojitos and margaritas for about $ 6, along with mojito colombianos(mojitos with the Colombian liquor of choice, aguardiente, a sugarcane derived spirit) and others for about $ 8. I recommend the mojito colombiano. I last went last night and it seems they stepped up their appearance a tad and added free live Spanish-language music on Saturday nights, something to look out for. Overall I’d say that the drinks are decently priced, the food good, and the atmosphere welcoming. The clientele while I’ve been here has been predominantly been Latino, including many Colombians, so take note that the food is that down home good. A favorite of mine and must-try while in Park Slope or the surrounding area.

The food is pretty good. Service attentive when we sat down(mid afternoon on a Sunday) however then we had to really look to get our waitress & waiter’s attention, when the tables filled up. Anyway we went here with Children so we ordered a couple of dishes from the children’s menu, for them. French fries with hot dogs & mac n’ cheese, both very bland & blah, but l didn’t expect a Colombian place make those particular dishes well, anyway. I ordered & recommend the Chicken smothered in Mushroom sauce, which comes with beans, rice & maduros. The chicken & mushroom sauce reminded me of a similar Italian dish; «Chicken Marsala». Their freshly made guac with the platano chips, are pretty good! It gets filled up on weekends, since it’s a small place & another tiny annoyance; our table &2 chairs were wobbly.

Had a birthday dinner here recently. Made a reservation for 8, but a few more showed up than I expected… whoops! the waitress was clearly not too happy about this. That being said, I think this place would have difficulty in accommodating larger groups. I thought the drinks and food were excellent. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas and guacamole, both of which were the real thing — not the premixed junk. In fact, they make the guacamole fresh right next to your table — winning! And they serve it with plantains — double winning! I ordered the carne asada y camarones al aguardilla, perfect mix of flavors and really filling. I also tried a bite of my brother’s pork which was also very tender and flavorful. I would definitely go back. The large portions are great for the price, the food is authentic, the vibe is laid back, and it looks like they have happy hour.

Came here for my sisters birthday party. Maybe not the best place in the world for groups but they accommodated us. We definitely overwhelmed our waitress but we said 8 were coming and 11 showed up. And we had to squeeze tightly at the table. That being said, it was really good. Prices seem on par with other places until you see the portions of food which are huge and easily shared or taken home for another meal(or two). Guacamole was good and it’s made table side and adjusted for your desired level of heat. Free mini empanadas with check in! Got pitchers of margaritas for the table which were strong and reasonably priced. Plantains are good but they charged $ 3 for more for the leftover guacamole which was a little lame but hardly caused a problem with or groups bill. I just equate it to a Mexican rwstaraunt charging more for chips when you already paid $ 10 for guacamole. The meat was really good. I recommend the pork. Huge amount. Very tasty. Steak was okay.

We did delivery so the food was a bit cold. The yucca frita was a bit soggy once it arrived. It was delicious though. We had madorito con queso, churrasco a la plancha and entrada asada!!! Everything was well seasoned and tasty. I’m sure if you were there at the restaurant everything would be on point!!! Sincerely steak lover :)

I was so excited to try this restaurant based on the fabulous reviews but I was disappointed. I tried the Bandeja Paisa. The chicarrones were dry and salty, I had to douse it in sauce for it to taste remotely decent. The rice was fluffy but didnt have much flavor and the beans weren’t simmered long enough. Lacked flavor entirely…

Having lived with a Colombian girl for a few years I know a bit about Colombian food and this place is solid. Im not a huge Latin food fan as I find much of it a bit too greasy but this place does make a few authentic dishes that I like particularly Ajiaco, not the best version I have had but on a cold February day while fighting some kind of bug in my system(cold, flu, allergies, Zika virus???) it hits the spot. Ajiaco is a very rich and hearty Colombian chicken soup that is spiked with herbs and capers(capers in this version were scant) potatoes and corn on the cob. It is traditionally served with white rice on the side and slices of avocado. You are supposed to stir in the rice and top with the avocado. They have it as a lunch special 8.00 and its a sizable order. On a previous order I had the mini Empanadas and I found them ok but a bit lacking. My coworker is a huge fan of the steak and onions and I will have to take her advice and give it a try on our next order.

Taking a walk through park slope you will find many many shops, eateries, fine dining establishments, but you have to keep walking until you finally find Colombia in Park Slope. Walking in, plates that people had were extravagant, there seemed like the re were so many good things available on this menu. Not knowing where to start, my girl friend gets the table side guacamole. Now to be honest, it may even sound strange, but I am not much of a guacamole fan. However, the guacamole this guy made right in front of us, phenomenal. The texture, the taste, the absolute freshness delivered in this dish while asking us what we proffered piece by piece and served in a traditional dish for guacamole. Finally ordering, I can’t remember exactly which steak it was but it came on a large skillet that was saucy, seasoned and cooked just where she wanted it to be. A lot of the time, I dislike skillet dishes because there’s no element of a plate, but this was just perfect and cooled down very fast. I went all in getting the Carne asada y camarones, which came in a creamy sauce that I did not expect but complimented the shrimp so well, white wine tasting and savory. The steak was so tender I dug right into it. The portion was larger than most places would give for a platter like this and I couldn’t have been more grateful. Every bite of steak and shrimp followed by a spoon of their rice and beans, all went together so well, and having never been I felt Colombia here. This is a worthwhile try for anyone curious about different kinds of Spanish foods from all of the world, they are all available here in NYC. While I don’t see myself taking that walk we took anytime soon, I do see myself in this restaurant again in the future.

I absolutely love the shrimp in garlic sauce from here, and usually order it about once a month, the garlic is cooked perfectly with a nice creamy sauce, it comes with white rice, salad, and two tostones, and a delicious dipping sauce for them. I also usually order the corizo on the side, it’s nice and crispy! The appetizer is also good when I’m not eating alone. The only thing I wish they did was include beans with the order, I’m Latino rice suppose to come with beans… but here it doesn’t, so I have to order a side of them… I really don’t know how authentic Colombian this place is, considering this is the only Colombian restaurant I’ve eaten at, but all I do know is the food & customer service is great!

Ordered take out from Colombia Park Slope one Saturday night. The portions are huge and prices reasonable — one appetizer and two entrees came to 36 dollars with tip. I have a serious love of sweet plantains so when I saw empanadas filled with them and gooey cheese I could not resist. They were delicious — the empanada itself was perfectly crisped and I loved the sweet mashed filling. Next was the ajiaco soup. This was good but I didn’t adore it. Too much broth and too little chicken and vegetables in my opinion, although the broth was certainly tasty. Luckily it came with white rice and avocado, which was nice and filling. What I really loved, though, was the«spicy succulent shrimp» entrée, which came in a red creamy sauce that was incredibly addictive and so spicy it left my mouth tingling for quite awhile after. Delicious! The shrimp were served with a salad, white rice and green plantains. So much food, I have a lot leftover for another day.

5 stars for their lunch. Holy crap is this place delicious and one of the best lunch deals around. Despite walking down 5th hundreds if not thousands of times Columbia in Park Slope had somehow never registered. What changed all that was a mention in a recent NYTimes article on the Old Stone House in Washington Park. It was their image and description of the Ajiaco soup at Columbia that had me running there. I still haven’t been for dinner, but the lunch is phenomenal. For $ 8 you get a giant bowl of the Ajiaco soup with a side of avocado and rice and delicious sauces. The soup comes in a large metal bowl with a very generous portion that includes half an ear of corn(in the soup). It is absolutely the perfect thing for a cold winter day(and particularly if you have a cold like I did the first time I went). While not part of the lunch special, we got their guac(made tableside) with plantain chips($ 9) which is really tasty and worth it, even if costs more than a whole special! The Bistec steak sandwich and soup combo($ 6.95) is also fantastic. The beef is super tender and melts in your mouth. While the Ajiaco soup is not listed as one of the side soup options, if you ask nicely, they may give it to you anyway. I highly recommend asking. You should also ask for some of their house made sauces to go on the sandwich. My newest obsession is their Columbian style empanadas made with corn(they also offer flour ones). Also not featured as a lunch special(but available) the beef empanada(3 for $ 6) is super flavorful and the corn shell is cooked to perfection(it almost reminds me of a Caracas arepa). I have also tried the chicken sandwich, but think the beef is the best. I highly recommend this place and will need to update this review once I get to try their dinners(which I can’t wait to try!). Almost forgot… it is BYOB!!!
