The drinks and the service were good but the food was just bad. My duck was bland and way undercooked and the sauce had a bitter taste to it. My girlfriend also had some risoto that tasted like hospital food.

Chez moi is an unconditional address in Brooklyn Heights/Cobble hills area. I don’t really know what grade to give them as sometimes I want to give them a 3 stars and sometimes I believe they can be above 5 stars… Chez moi is a French vibe restaurant with some employees coming from Maghreb which I love. the menu has some French Speciality: Onion Soup, Mussels, and croque monsieur/Madame… It can be a nice place to have a family dinner/friends dinner or a date. There is a boudoir downstairs with a nice cocktail menu. Last time my mussels were not that great … something was missing(maybe not salty enough?) but the service is professional, quick and efficient!

This morning we had brunch with an out-of-town guest. She’d read about the tunnel underground and wanted to see it. I didn’t expect the food to be so amazing! Everything was absolutely delicious. The warm scones beforehand were so good– one of us said, «This might be the best scone I’ve ever had in my life.» She also had the Basilic and gave us a sip– absolutely amazing! The Eggs Benedict, Eggs Norwegian and Quiche Lorraine were all really, really tasty dishes… and even though the secret bar behind the bookcase wasn’t opening until after my guest’s plane left, the General Manager agreed to gave us a short private tour!

Coming here for brunch on a Sunday morning was the BEST decision I could have made. My friend and I ordered the Eggs Norwegian and Eggs Benedict. The Eggs Benedict was presented very nicely with mixed greens, roasted potatos, and two cute eggs sitting on top of ham and biscuits($ 13) Definitely a bang for your buck. The Eggs Norwegian was the same except the ham was substituted with smoked salmon. The restaurant is very quaint and a wonderful setting for dates.

These 3 stars go to the hostess, blonde girl that made us move(not even asked) because a party of three wanted to sit at the bar… We come here to hang out at their bar, great music, great cocktails and great bartender… Hostess, you suck, need some hospitality skills here.

Follow the rules, Jules! Chez Moi put me in my place and I kind of liked it. #1 — Do not attempt to open the bookcase painted door that leads to their speakeasy, Boudoir on your own. A man will tell you in a commanding tone that you mustn’t without a manager letting you in. #2 — You cannot just sit anywhere once you are in the Boudoir. Another manager will come fetch you and lead you down a twisted staircase in candle light to your approved seating area. In our case, two stools by the wall. #3 — If you trip down the stairs, you must appear unfazed. Just as unfazed as the manager who tells you to watch your step. There are signs on the steps, but you cannot see them well in the candlelight. #4 — Do not try to order your own drinks at the bar even if no one approaches you to take an order. You must be a patient guest. The Intruder is a cocktail worth waiting for. #5 — Do not bring AMEX. That rule, we did not violate :-) #6 — If you attempt to molest the mini knight statue at the top of the twisted staircase the manager will crack a smile and do it too. #7 — Be decadent and order things your super FIT ass doesn’t normally touch like the escargots swimming in minced garlic and butter or the NY Strip steak with peppercorn sauce to dip your pommes frites into. Dip the thick sourdough bread into everything! #8 — Don’t(but do) get lost in conversation and be the last table to leave the restaurant. That’s when the«if you want desert the kitchen is literally closing in two mins» warning will come on strong. Then, order desert! #9 — Do cab it home unless you think you can manage the twelve block walk to the train with a tummy at fill point and brain buzzing all kinds of happy chemicals. And finally… #10 — Do fast for two days in preparation for your next visit. I can’t wait to be put in my place again… merci!!!

This is for Boudoir the mixology bar behind the book shelf. The drinks there were well crafted and on a Saturday there was just enough people there to be comfortable but still interesting. I would go back for a chill drink with friends.

Ya this place is great! Cute atmosphere reminiscent of a café in Paris with decent prices for what you get. My sister and I both had the muscles. She had the tomato based sauce and I had the white wine sauce. The white wine sauce had huge sprigs of fresh herbs and lots of phenomenal flavors that complimented the muscles without overpowering them. The tomato sauce was the same success, with fresh tomatoes and just the right balance of acidity. Now to the actual muscles. Huge, plump, and perfectly cooked. I wish I could eat them everyday! They were served with french fries which were good, but not my personal favorite. I like really skinny fries and these were not those, bummer. When I get this meal I expect delicate fries which are perfectly seasoned, but these were standard fast food fries. Change your fries and I’ll be back!

This review is for both dinner and cocktails at Chez Moi as well as the speakeasy downstairs. What an amazing place!!! My favorite cocktail on the dinner menu is the BASILIC. It may even be one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had! I loved the combination of gin, basil, and coconut. My colleagues and I got the fennel and artichoke salad as a starter. While I’m not usually a fan of fennel, the lemon dressing paired nicely with the fennel with a refreshing effect. I loved loved loved the skate! The fava beans were great, and the fish was perfectly cooked. The desserts were okay, nothing great. I’d go for the crème brûlée or profiteroles if you are really craving dessert. Or another cocktail! Their cocktail menu is expansive. Service was really wonderful and our waiter directed us to a host who took us downstairs to the speakeasy after our meal. The Marie Antoinette theme resonated, you felt like you were in the past! There was a jazz violinist on the night we went(which was a Monday!). They didn’t have as many cocktails, just 5 or 6, and they can make you the classics. Our waitress wasn’t the most knowledgeable but it was her first day.

We had a surprise 50th bday party for our friend there. There were about 20 of us. What a beautiful spot! It looks like a small cozy restaurant and a bar when u walk in but there is also a hidden magical speak easy. The ambience is beyond great! The cocktails are beautifully made. The glass wear is unbelievable and medieval. We only had appetizers and they were delicious(smoked salmon, nuts, olives, foie gras). And lastly, the stuff was the most pleasant group of people. They were friendly, professional, attentive, polite and fast. It is a perfect space for a date too! So so good!

My husband and I had a lovely experience here. He was craving escargot, which was supreme! When we entered it was already packed, but the waiters were attentive and we were sat in a matter of seconds. The ambiance was fun, romantic and had a burlesque theme. In addition to the escargot we ordered grilled octopus, which was tasty and tender, salmon, frisée salad and ended the night with Crème brûlée! Everything was superb.

A lovely, classy spot on wonderful Atlantic Ave. I would recommend coming here after a nice walk through Brooklyn Bridge Park. Lucky for me its one of the closest places for me to pop in to from home. The bartender was making some seriously delicious drinks. Maybe one of my favorites in recent memory. I’d give you the name, but the menu online doesn’t have the second page of cocktails. It was a bourbon drink, and a fine one at that. We like to go grab a drink and enjoy the $ 1 happy hour oysters. You just can’t beat it! The beef carpaccio was also delicious, and we looking forward to exploring the menu further.

Chez Moi knows how to do brunch! Brunch here is delicious– they really know how to make a delicious plate of Banana pancakes, Eggs Benedict, and a hamburger. The atmosphere is very lively and the service is friendly and attentive. It’s fun to dine at the bar and watch the fresh drinks get made, including fresh juices. My timing was really lucky, as my table of 9 got seated within 10 minutes on a Sunday. I was anxious to find the best brunch spot, since everyone had come in from far distances. This place did not disappoint and after the meal, everyone thanked me for choosing such a great place! I’ll definitely visit Chez Moi again!

Tried to get seated during Sunday brunch service, and while the waiter acknowledged us, the host completely ignored our presence. Apparently his phone call was much more important. Ten minutes is my personal limit, and my tummy needed immediate attention, so we left to find another brunch option. This is one of my local go to restaurants, but I will be taking a break for a while. There are just too many excellent restaurants in the area competing for business and actually want my business.

This review is for Chez Moi’s Boudoir Brooklyn’s newest speakeasy-esque place just opened and it is lovely! I already loved Chez Moi so chances were I was going to love whatever they open in their basement. The décor is theme appropriate(Marie Antoinette’s boudoir) and felt very inviting, probably thanks to the courteous staff and cocktails served in well portioned goblets. Three French inspired, infused with delicious stuff cocktails later, I was in love.

Still love this place. Came here for dinner with two friends and the waitress was amazing. She did her job with efficiency and care. She also had lots of compliments for our food choices which just made us feel good about ourselves. For dessert she suggested the proliferitoles which were amazing and was no where close to the most expensive dish. She also didn’t pressure us to get individual dessert and even suggested that we share since she could see how full we were. The food was great as always.

I used to live a couple of doors down from this place, it’s definitely a neighborhood gem. As for the food all I can say is mussels mussels mussels! I love their mussels and the bartender is always approachable and great with pairing the mussels with the right glass of wine. If it’s a beautiful day definitely sit by the bar in front of the window or grab a table outside, it has a very French Rivera feel in Brooklyn Heights — just the perfect combo.

Had a wonderful time here with a friend on a Sunday evening in this quieter neighborhood of Brooklyn. I was glad we came early, for as the hours passed, the cozy little restaurant became fully packed. But that’s generally a good sign* We shared the steak tartare and escargot. The tartare was made with high quality meat, and the accompanying salad complimented it well. The fries weren’t mindblowing, but they were fine. Think thin matchstick fast-food style, but obviously better. I love that they refilled our bread basket midway the meal – all the better to sop up the wonderful garlic butter leftover from the escargot, which were cooked perfectly tender by the way. Not at all chewy. We also ordered a chocolate mousse to end on, and it might be the best I’ve ever had. Very airy and just MELTS in your mouth, without leaving any sort of glue-like residue on your palate. Dessert cocktails are also nice – I got a «Banana Split» and enjoyed it. My friend got a hot dessert cocktail, forget the name now but it was a coffee one. Good, but very strong! *Something to note if you go at a peak time: it was very loud by the end of our dinner, so much it became a little difficult to converse, most probably due to how small the place is. While the beginning of our dinner was quite intimate and cozy, take caution if crowded.

we are big fans, and occasionally eat here, and would give it five stars again, BUT… The«rack of lamb» special that I had last night was not a «rack», it was two frenched lamb chops, cut double wide. And small. How small? Smaller than the Australian lamb chops that you get from Costco, in that package of six. I felt ripped off. If you want decent sized meat, get the steak frites. As always though, service is always top notch here. Mixed drinks are awesome.

Brunch here is great. The mushroom/spinach/cheese crepes are good and comes with two large rolls and a bed of salad. I wasn’t even able to finish the second crêpe on the plate. They also have a good looking cocktail menu with freshly juiced fruits instead of the store-bought stuff. + good brunch food + generous portions + fresh squeezed/juiced fruit for juices and cocktails

Food was on point and I really wanted to give this place 4 stars but we had a couple of issues during our meal which made me knock off a star. 1. We were 2 people and they sat us at a table that seemed to be halfway into the main walking area of the restaurant. In reality, this table shouldn’t have existed in the restaurant’s layout. 2. No one ever came to ask us if we wanted another drink or check on us. When we finally got our waiter’s attention, he took my wine glass without asking and it still had wine in it that I was drinking! 3. It took an inappropriately long time for us to get our second round of drinks. Overall the food was very good so I’m hoping these issues are a one-off thing. We had the beet and goat cheese salad(tasty), sardines app special(bones were too tedious), salmon with ratatouille(medium rare and delicious), and the fish of the day(a white fish with a name I can’t recall, served with a fennel salad — both were excellent). I would go back and hope the service is better.

It was my first stop on my foray into Brooklyn. Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. However, since I was with a Frenchman, we decided to do a French Saturday brunch. Glad we did! This place is inconspicuous from the outside and quite dark in the back, although still nice with some painted brick and old-world European charm. The coffee was great and constantly being refilled. 1. Grapefruit brulee: I’m not sure I’ve had one of these before, but it was amazing. LIghtly carmelized sugar on an open half-face of the grapefruit. Simple yet amazing. Dessert before the meal. 2. Grits with a side of bacon: Loved the corn grits. Creamy like polenta with a poached egg on top. When you break that egg, the yolk flows over the grits, making it just that much better. I added bacon to the top to perfect this dish. 3. Egg white frittata: Incredibly flavorful and satisfying, this dish came with potatoes and a side salad. Fresh, simple, awesome. 4. Profiteroles: The best I’ve ever had. Yes. Seriously. Three large pastries that are open and stuffed with large amounts of vanilla ice cream, drizzled in chocolate sauce, and finished with almond slices. Oh, and the whipped cream too. For those that have not had a profiterole, come here to have your first one. Orgasmic.

I came here for Mother’s Day brunch at 3:00 pm. The food is pretty solid and they can accommodate large groups. Our meal wasn’t the most traditional French food but the vibe was nice and the prices were reasonable. You’ll probably pay somewhere between $ 11 — $ 16 for a brunch entrée.

Awesome brunch! And yes, the most impressive part: Chez Moi Has SAZERAC! I was Ubering down Atlantic when I spotted this almost hidden restaurant! I mean, it doesn’t even have a sign on it! I quickly checked and it was a 4-Star. I went in and was tended by this cute, punk Asian bar tender(didn’t catch the name, sorry). I ordered a burger and spotted Sazerac on the drink menu. Not your usual brunch drink but. I had it. It was great!

We came here for brunch on an early Saturday afternoon. The setting was intimate and very cozy– dim lights and tables that are somewhat tucked away in their own spaces so that conversation can easily be kept within your group. I had ordered the egg white fritatta with grapefruit juice and my boyfriend had the eggs benedict. The egg white fritatta was tasty and had pieces of asparagus inside. It was a bit on the salty side, but I ate it with the arugula side salad which had a bit of acid to it so it was perfectly balanced out. It also came with a generous helping of homefries which were crispy, hot, and delicious. They had some sort of Italian-herb seasoning on it which made them even more pleasant to eat. The grapefruit juice was fizzy and tasted a bit blunted… errr not as «grapefruity» as I’m used to. They may have added some sugar, which is disappointing because I’m a lover of regular, bitter grapefruit. My boyfriend’s eggs benedict was delightful! The hollandaise sauce was flavorful and not too heavy; the whole dish worked well cohesively. I also heard the crispy chicken sandwich is delicious and popular, which one of our friends ordered. The service was attentive and fairly quick throughout our whole meal. Cute little place in BK to have brunch on a pretty spring day!
