A lovely place with perfect brunch. Reasonably priced. Just get there early to avoid a wait.

DELICIOUS! Came once with my sister on 1⁄16 for her birthday brunch. We waited about 15 minutes for a table, were seated and attended to promptly. The venue is quite small with about 12 or so tables inside but the turnaround is quick. I don’t know if there is more seating in the back/outside so I cannot be quoted for this as the final deal. It was winter so if more spacing was available, it could very well be closed. There is no pestering for you to get up from the table, waitstaff was very accommodating. I had the french toast and my sister had the pancakes. We ordered each of the sides to split between the two of us and the portions weren’t skimpy. I’ll return again and again. Saw some great sandwiches to try for the next time around.

Cheryl’s is good food for both brunch and dinner. Haven’t had the breakfast or lunch there yet but everything we ate was great! I had the grilled shrimp for dinner and the waffles for brunch. Loved sitting outside during the summer. Winter inside dining is cozy with their wood-covered walls. Great neighborhood joint and Cheryl is a welcoming chef/owner.

This place is actually a 3 ½. The food is a 4 rating but the slow service and welcoming environment lacked in the presentation. The restaurant and the ambiance was intimate as well as convenient parking. Hour starts at noon until 7 and the cost sensitive.

I came here on a Sunday morning for brunch. Wait time was about 30min, which is decent for brunch. The hostess took down my number and called us when the table was ready. She even suggested a nearby café to grab a tea and keep warm. The service was friendly and quick, we received our meals in good time. The prices were fair; brunch entrée included a tea and a mimosa, which made the meal even more bang for its buck. The omelette specials were creative, though I wouldn’t describe the brunch selections as soul food. Ambience was casual and generally pleasing. The food was pretty good, the bacon was delicious. Walking distance from the train. All in all, a solid, black owned establishment that is worth the trek into Brooklyn.

The fruits are not fresh at all. Especially when you check the picture from their website, you definitely will feel disappointed.

I’ve been here twice and definitely enjoy the ambiance of the place. Feels like a family vibe, customer service is great. Cheryl was sitting next to my date and I and was heartbroken to hear I was allergic to both coconut and pineapple. Needless to say, my food options are limited given I don’t eat meat or coconut, but I did enjoy some white wine mussels and previously ordered the shrimp entrée. The place is snug, which is typical for nyc. Would suggest making a reservation.

Popped in here in a very cold Saturday night and easily grabbed a table. The service was pretty great which is why I give it 2 stars. The space is very quaint and the servers all seemingly work together in making sure that every guest is taken care of. I chose the portabella burger as I am vegan, it arrived quickly but is usually the easy cop out for most restaurants to cater to vegan/vegetarian diets. My thought is if you’ve had one mushroom burger you’ve had them all. In that regard the burger didn’t not stand out. Another note is although it was just myself and my date, they automatically added gratuity. Which I guess ties into the several servers assisting us throughout the experience, however I feel like this should be mentioned as it’s an uncommon practice for a party of 2. Ultimately this didn’t seem like a place for dinner as most reviews I seen were for brunch/breakfast. If in the area I’ll give it another try for brunch, but it probably wouldn’t be my first choice.

Shout out to Carolyn! Worked her tail off! Bussed tables! Greeted outside in the cold — all with a smile! Food was great and service was on point even with the crowd! I’ll be back!

Dropped in for brunch on Christmas Eve and staff were friendly and service quick. Brioche french toast with chantilly cream was a nice indulgence, but the three eggs dish was overcooked.

Came on a Sunday around 2:30pm with my 5 yr old daughter and we waited about 30 min for a table. Servers were very friendly and it kind of went along with the casual charm and coZiness of a «soul food» place. I came for the pancakes and it def hit the spot. I originally ordered it for my kid and I ended up eating most of her food. I got the pancakes with berries and chantilly cream. It was absolutely delicious, fresh tasting, and just the right amount of fluff and flavor. On the side I also ordered eggs and salmon hash. That salmon hash though… MMmMm All in all. sweet joint and reasonably priced. Will be back to try rest of pancakes :)

Breakfast here is SOGOOD. Come early, as the place fills up quick and there will be a wait if you don’t come close to when it opens. Prices are good, portions are big, service is friendly and the food is tasty — can’t really ask for more.

Don’t let the outside fool you! Yes, it seems a little run down, but there is a reason why there are so many people waiting for a seat on a Saturday/Sunday brunch. Also once you get inside, the interior is warm and inviting/cozy. Perhaps not the best place for a date(like the couple next to my friend and I) but a great place for grab brunch with girl friends. My friend and I came for Saturday brunch around 12:30 and we had to wait over an hour for a table. OVERANHOUR. I suggest coming before noon because my friend told me that the wait is usually only 15 minutes. It’s one of her favorite brunch spots in Brooklyn so I knew I had to give it a shot… plus we grabbed donuts to snack on before hand(that’s another review). All you have to do is leave your number and they will call you when a table is ready. We both got the Poached Eggs over Salmon Hash, Hollandaise Sauce, and Seven Grain Toast($ 15), extra side of avocado($ 1?), and a mimosa & coffee(comes with meal). The food came extremely fast, which was perfect because we were both hungry. I believe the salmon hash was pre-made, but it was SOGOOD. I love salmon and eggs Benedict so this was the perfect combination. The mimosa and coffee come with the meal too. My body needs a break from boozy brunches, but this was just a little perfect kick to the second half of my day. Be warned, the inside of the restaurant can get warm… very warm. If you are still hung over from the night before this might not be the best place to feel human again. After our meals, my friend and I just wanted to get out as fast as possible to breathe fresh air again. On the plus side, after you stuff yourself silly with delicious food you can walk off those calories at the nearby park!

Came here for breaksfast on a Friday morning. Parking was a nightmare but once I got inside I felt much better. The restaurant is very homey and cozy. We were invited to sit where ever we liked. I ordered the pancakes which were delicious. I don’t know what is in the cream that they put on top it the pancakes but I was loving it. Service was pretty quick. I’m looking forward to trying this place for brunch but I can imagine that it gets crowded and there is a wait as this is a small restaurant.

Cheryl’s is one of the few spots on prospect heights you can get a nice breakfast. A lot of the stand NY’s have closed down in the last few months-rising rents beget Buisness migration. The food here is rather inconsistent. Sometimes they nail it sometimes you feel like you should have brought your own stash of hot sauce and spice. I usually get the huevos-but the last time I went they were super super tasteless. The sauce was bland. Eggs funny. Stingy on the guac. Cmon cheryl I know you guys can do better!

Loved the place. Great server; very friendly. Cute interior. I had the pancakes with banana and cream. I must say the cream was delicious. Tasted just like ice cream. I almost didn’t need any syrup to go with the pancakes, tasted great just with the cream. The portion was good; I was fully satisfied at the end of it. Breakfast comes with a choice of a small cup of OJ or C(cranberry)J. Little did I know Small cup = shot glass. Lol but I had the CJ and it was great. Not some watered down juice from concentrate with extra added sugar. At least it didn’t taste like it, but who knows. People can be easily fooled these days. The chicken sausage, scrambled eggs, and home fries were pretty good too, as per my friend. Only things I didn’t like: I was offered a little saucer of butter which was picked up from the table next to me after the diner assured the server it was untouched. Uh… No, please don’t do that. Even if it REALLY was untouched. You cannot offer me an item that you picked up from another diner’s table. Idk, isnt it common sense? Ettiquette? Second thing was that there were flies roaming around while I was eating. But! The 4 stars remain. The food was good, place was cute, server was friendly. Just the 2 little mishaps that can be easily fixed. I will most likely be back for more pancakes, nd hopefully less flies. :)

Pretty decent brunch here. I was recommended by a friend who raved about their pancakes so I was pretty determined to try this place out. The wait was about 20 mins, staff was pleasant when they greeted us, however service was super slow. I know they’re busy but it took probably about 10 minutes before I even saw our waitress. She was very nice though… but it’s kind of strange when you get your drinks AFTER your meal even though you ordered them at the same time. The brunch pre-fix on the weekends is a good deal. For about $ 15 it comes with a mimosa or bloody Mary AND coffee or tea, and they don’t just have 1 or 2 kinds of teas but a few options! I highly recommend sitting outside because indoors looks stuffy on a hot day(no real AC) and the outdoor seating has natural canopies from the trees. We ordered the mushroom quiche which came with a yummy salad & the buttermilk pancakes with berries. The food was delicious. Pancakes were thick and fluffy, fruit seemed real and fresh(thank God its not canned)& the mushroom quiche is yummy and melts in your mouth. The mimosa was super strong so I didn’t really touch that; I prefer more juice over booze. Was it worth the wait? Perhaps so, but I was more focused on the company than the food to be honest. I’m glad I got to experience their pancakes though! And thank you waitress for smiling — I’m all about the smiley service.

This is a really nice, chill place to grab brunch on the weekends. The wait can be a bit long during peak times weekend mornings, but I’ve never had to wait more than 30 minutes. The food isn’t mind-blowing, but solid. Love all their omelettes and pancakes. The prices are super reasonable too — most run $ 12 – 15 off the brunch menu, which comes with coffee and one drink(Bloody Mary or mimosa). Service is friendly, and the hostess who I usually see each time I’m there is super nice and always smiling. When the weather is nice, they have a cool outdoor seating area in the back and the front has large windows opening toward the street. Location is convenient, situated right next to Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Brooklyn Public Library. One of these days I’ll need to come out and check this place out for dinner.

If you come for brunch, prepare to put your name on the wait list as this place fills up fast, and for good reason. I don’t usually give 5 stars to places I’ve check into once, but I was first introduced to this place a few years ago, and the food is still delicious. It has endured the test of time. No starting out with lofty standards and having to pare it down or substituting with cheaper ingredients. The salmon hash is the piece de resistance. It is the must have. Served with a poached egg and toast, it’s a substantial and delicious meal. The plate was wiped clean. With a mimosa/bloody mary and coffee/tea option the meal more than suffices. But you cannot come here without getting the pancakes as well! Get a side of pancakes with any order anytime you get to Cheryl’s — even if your main order is pancakes. Fluffy, buttery, the perfect size, and melt in your mouth flavor make these pancakes the pancake to which all others aspire. They are perfect. But it’s Sunday brunch, so why stop there? The crimini and cheddar omelette was on special and also came with the hot beverage and cold beverage options. The mushrooms and cheddar were of ample supply and accompanied the pancakes perfectly. This is not the place you come to just once every few years. Be better than me and visit often. It’s worth it.

A timeless classic is the best fit description for Cheryl’s Global Soul. Throughout its years of operation they have remained consistent in quality and taste. The staff is inviting and responsive to all your request. I have always enjoyed my time at Cheryl’s. The intimacy of the location gives you a homey feeling, where all you are missing is your fuzzy slippers. Wait! Before I exit, I have to give props to the bartender. My cocktail dubbed«Brooklyn», was a tastefully made bourbon, triple sec, lemon and other baby making mixtures.
