Came here because I really wanted my bf try the juicy Lucy; unfortunately his burger was cold on the inside and the cheese not melted so it was sent back. My chicken tenders were soooo tasty that he ended up sharing mine and we ordered some to go as well. I’m easily pleased so well seasoned chicken tenders with crispy salty fries makes me so happy. The shuffleboard was occupied so didn’t get to take advantage but maybe next time I visit.

Great little neighborhood spot. Delicious burgers(the juicy lucy is incredible!), selection of yummy craft beers at all price points, and a super cute setting whether you’re on a date or just having some beers with friends. Meet me at the shuffleboard table!

The cheese-stuffed burger patty is a dream come true and the fried cheese curds make you feel like everything is going to be okay, even with the upcoming election.

The cheese curds were a bit greasy, but chewy how I like my cheese curds. Delicious! We each had the juicy Lucy which was perfectly prepared and full of cheesy goodness. While I wish I had my choice of cheese, only American was available, and quite good!

We love Burnside! Beautiful interior. Small back garden available during warmer months. Excellent cocktails. Yummy small plates.(FRIEDCHEESECURDS!) and cool music!(also: kept low enough so that you don’t have to yell to hear each other.) all in all: def. recommend this place!

Did you know that if you Google«best cheese curds in Brooklyn» your smartphone will direct you to Burnside? In the case, the phone proved very smart indeed. Just popped in with some friends while out barhopping and only stayed for a beer and a couple of trays of the aforementioned curds, but I wish this place were in my neighborhood in DC, or that I lived nearby in Brooklyn, it seemed like the kind of place I’d love to be a regular at. Dark and cozy with a small bar, a big shuffleboard table, and a decent beer list, it seemed to me an embodiment of the German term gemütlichkeit. Who knows when I might find myself in the neighborhood again, but this will definitely be my destination if I am.

One of the best burgers I’ve ever had! Friendly bartenders and good drinks too. I love the hot toddy in the winter and the goldcrush in the summer. Nice and low key for a casual date or catch up with friends. Try the romantic two-person seat in the back near the door for the porch!

Now, I knew this place would be a slam dunk for my midwestern self, but you know it was good when the Mainer BF gave it two thumbs up. Happy hour went until 8:00, which is amazing, and their beers were all really good. Their menu was small, but everything was good. We had the Juicy Lucy, which was good, but a little too much mayo(but hey, midwest), cheese curds because you have to(BF said they were the best he’d ever had) and chicken tenders– which for $ 8 or whatever they cost, I got a whole mess of them. All in all, we will repeat visit.

Drinks are fine but the food is disgusting. Greasy gray burger, burnt chicken fingers and soggy fried cheese. Sent everything back and paid paid forty dollars for not eating. Nice looking place but nothing below the surface. #waste #hipsterbullshit

This part of my trip to NYC was a bit blurry. I met up with my friend from Williamsburg and he took me out to a few of the local bars. This was our first stop. I just remember drinking whiskey and playing shuffleboard. We ended up challenging some other people there and ended up drinking A LOT more. Not sure who won or lost, but the only clear memory was the shuffle board tables. The patrons are nice and fun to talk to.

Cheese curds. Expert cocktails. Cheap and good beers. What more do you need? The staff here is really friendly and offers great service. One of my friends ordered the burger not realizing it came with aioli(she is deathly afraid of mayo and under any circumstance will NOT eat it). Although, it was technically her fault for not asking and not specifying it was sent back to the kitchen and a new one was made by a friendly and helpful staff. The décor in here is nice and I find it really comforting. They also have shuffleboard if you want to impress your date. If you haven’t already, go check out the back patio. It’s cozy and nice.

The Juicy Lucy is the best cheeseburger in Brooklyn. The fries are killer, the chicken fingers are great, the cheese curds are to die for. That’s just the food. They have everything here. I live closeby and come in once or twice a week. Depending on my mood, they have decent whiskeys, classy cocktails, a decent selection of wine, and a good range of cheap to not cheap beer. It’s for this reason that I had my birthday party here, and many of my other friends have as well. I go in a lot, sometimes with one friend, sometimes on a date, sometimes with a small group. Sometimes I go alone and read. Sometimes I bring scrabble and play with friends. Sometimes we play shuffleboard. The tunes are always fun. They even have an adorable little backyard and friendly bartenders who are never, ever dicks. Bottom line is this is the best spot in the hood.

Another little Wisconsin influenced bar with brandy old fashioneds(all cocktails $ 10) and delicious fried cheese curds($ 6). Some of the best fried cheese curds I’ve had in NYC. Favorite cocktail was the goldcrush(bourbon, lemon, mint, honey). Jucy Lucy burgers are also on the menu. If cheap WI beer interests you, they also have Milwaukee’s Best. Shuffleboard table too!

Great location, and sells some $ 3 beer which is important if your job sucks because you moved to New York with only a vague idea of «finding yourself» and no concrete future plans. The food is great but it would be better if they gave it to people for free, although I have no idea how that would work economically.

This is my local watering hole and I feel lucky to be alive because of it. Well, I feel lucky to be alive and Burnside reinforces this feeling. Good beer selection though I usually stick with a classic Brooklyn Lager… But then there are the cheese curds. O. M. F. G. Salty gooey, chewy, shareable cheesegasm for $ 6. The lighting is great, the bar is cozy, wooden and small but somehow still has lots nooks so it doesn’t feel crowded… And there’s a shuffleboard table. And they play records that are solid good fun tunes. All in all it’s the ideal neighborhood pub type joint.

Sorry to have to do this because I always liked the vibe and food at this place, but here goes. I live right nearby and I’ve been going to burnside for a few years. It has consistently been my experience, but more so lately, that the pours they give you are so stingy that I don’t think I’ll be back. They’re charging like $ 11 for a scotch on the rocks. Ok, maybe a a dollar or so more than the neighborhood average but whatever. But when they give the glass it is inevitably like one finger height of scotch and ice piled to the top of the glass. Idk if maybe it’s just a bar for teetotalers or the cranberry and vodka crowd, but some of us like to feel the affect when we go out drinking. I seriously think it would cost like $ 50 to catch a buzz with those pours. And this isn’t exactly the Rainbow Room. The reason I’m finally writing this because I was in the other night and complained. First the bartender totally blew me off and argued with me about it. Then when the manager came over he took the bottle down so I’m thinking maybe he’ll give me a little more and we are all cool. But when he gave me more it was like no joke less than an ounce. This is not cool because a bottle of the scotch in question is like $ 45 at the store. They probably pay less wholesale. Even if they don’t, you’re charging $ 11 per shot and you’re being stingy even when the customer complains — you make over 100% profit per bottle people. Not a drinkers bar. If you like to get drunk on less than $ 100 go elsewhere. Update: I see someone at the bar replied to my review with exactly the same attitude I described originally in my post. All I will say is check out the tone of the response, look how many Unilocal stars this place has, read some other reviews, and draw your own conclusions.

Been here a few times, I at one time didn’t mind the place but now I can’t stand it. I ate one of the times and got a portobello burger or as I call it a bread sandwich because there was barely any portobello to be found. One time I had a nice female bartender, I’ve never seen her again. Too bad, because the guys now are not too strong at their jobs. They do the blank stare, robotic bartender thing. I disagree with other reviewers who think they are rude, I don’t believe they are trying to be rude I just don’t think they let their personalities show.

I’ve been to Burnside a few times, and it’s just a little off the main strip so it keeps things more low key on a weeknight. I’m pretty much in love with their Honeysuckle tequila cocktail which spells danger. Delicious danger. The main room is industrial meets back woodsy, and the back patio, although marred by some smokers, is wood panelled and gorgeous. They serve fried cheese curds and burgers filled with cheese, but I’ve always just stared longingly at them as my skinny friends sipped their Midwestern beers(the bar is Midwestern themed, sortof). One day I will try them!
