This review is for the foodstand at Smorgasberg. My girlfriend and I were excited to see Burmese food at Smorgasberg and their menu sounded good. When I ordered the yellow curry chicken noodles for 10 dollars, I was expecting a good sized portion. Instead, I got a big bowl with a tiny bit of noodles, a few pieces of chicken, and 2 slices of egg(not even half a hard boiled egg). The amount of food inside was barely enough for an appetizer at a standard restaurant, let alone a 10 dollar portion of food. Usually Smorgasberg is overpriced but gives you enough to start to fill up, but the amount here was a joke. While the actual taste and flavor of the noodles was good, it was not worth the price. There are definitely better options at Smorgasberg.

As soon as I got a chance to go to Smorgasburg earlier this summer, I made a beeline to the Burma Noodle Bar. Their kao swe thoke(noodle salad) definitely did not disappoint! It was a very decent serving for the price and filled me up more than I expected to. Suffice it to say that the flavors were on point and completely delicious, and the texture of the noodle salad was delectable. The ability to adjust the spiciness on your own is an added bonus. Service is as good as you can get at a food stand. Lines were never long and the owner was really friendly. If you’re in love with Burmese food like I am or just curious about it, get to Burma Noodle Bar at Smorgasburg immediately! You won’t regret it. I can’t wait until they open a storefront!

The Vegetarian Noodle Salad is absolutely delicious! Hearty, fresh, amazing texture, and hello– noodles! They even have a bar to sit down and eat your food, which is a great time to chat up the friendly people working. Good Burmese food is hard to find in any city, but especially so in New York for some reason. So glad Eugene brought true Burma eats to Brooklyn! Looking forward to my next trip out so I can try the sugarcane juice.
