I wish I could give this place six stars. Seven. Ten. Looking at Unilocal,Seamless, and the menu in their window, you’d think that Masaki is a standard New York sushi place. Pretty solid takeout rolls, sushi, sashimi, and teriyaki, the usual. As a sushi joint, Masaki is a solid four stars. Affordable, good quality, nice backyard. Worth checking out if you’re in the neighborhood or looking to Seamless up some spicy tuna, but nothing too out-of-the-ordinary. So why the five-star rating and the effusive praise? Because as of June 2016, Masaki has started serving home-style Burmese cuisine on top of their sushi and noodles. And it is ridiculously good. Now, I’ve never had Burmese food, but I’m all for trying something new, so when I saw on their board outside that they were serving up Burmese specialties I figured I’ve gotta try that… and I’m so glad I did. I had the lamb chops, which came with an amazing chickpea-and-tomato stew and fried flatbread, plus a killer green salad with mangoes and jalapenos, along with an appetizer of deep-fried tofu with a tasty lime sauce and yet more jalapenos. Everything was fresh, flavorful, interesting, and fun. Than, the chef, is a genius; he’s serving up modern takes on Burmese specialties that’ll broaden your mind and your taste buds. I could rave on and on, but honestly, I’m just standing between you and the tasty Burmese feast you could be eating. Also, try the red rice sake. It’s killer. One(minor) drawback: they’re closed on Sundays, so if you want to do the weekend lunch thing you’ve gotta make sure you come on Saturday.

Masaki’s phone number no longer goes to a human, so you can’t call in food. The recording says you have to go online to order food. Fine. I’m an experienced seamlesser. But, they don’t have their entire menu online. I normally get simple sushi rolls, like plain salmon, but that’s not even an option online! It’s a basic roll, right? I really do like this place, but since they won’t take my phone calls, no more sushi for me :/

The sushi and sashimi was fresh, affordable, and delicious. We had the platter for three which started with a seafood salad which was probably my favorite! Great spot!

Lovely little spot! The waitress was friendly and helpful, and made some excellent recommendations. The vegetarian dumplings were excellent, and the pumpkin croquettes were delicious. I don’t usually go for cooked rolls, but after we ordered the waitress brought us a sample of the fried Godzilla roll. It was surprisingly awesome… We will definitely return

Inconsistent food quality from visit to visit has led me to stop coming to Masaki. When I first moved to the neighborhood, I was very happy to have a Japanese place right across the street and the first few times I went it was excellent. I’ve ordered delivery, takeout, and dined in, and the food quality was different each time. I don’t know what to expect when I come here, and when there are better options like Gen in the neighborhood, I’ll happily go elsewhere.

The place is very cozy. The waitress is very friendly… They honored the Unilocal 10% off check in. I ordered a glass of wine and the cup smelled like bleach. And it wasn’t In A wine glass… I ordered salmon dinner with Philadelphia roll. The food was average. The service is what makes them better than most. I would return and make sure my cup is properly

Perhaps the best take out deal in all of clinton hill/bed stuy. I ordered a bento box, which was about $ 10 and it came with so much food! The chicken teriyaki was delicious, there was a very generous serving of california roll(6 pieces), delicious chicken dumplings and a ginger salad. My appetite was satiated!

Though in my previous review I stated I would not be ordering from here again I decided to try it once more based on a friend reviewing this place as pretty good. I took their recommendation of giving it a second try(everyone deserves a second chance.) Second time around they got it nearly right, with the exception of them putting sauce on top when I asked for it on the side. I am particular when it comes to my food due to dietary restrictions. Hopefully they will adjust and so will I.

My friend and I stumbled across this place while seeking for some goodies and kill some time before getting our nails done. Food: The food was yummy, affordable and the portions were satisfying. I had the chicken teriyaki, my friend had the shrimp bento box and we ordered a shrimp tempura roll . Service: The waitress was super bubbly and nice and had a great attitude . Atmosphere: The place is a bit small, but then again this is New York .! The backyard is really nice if you want to eat in. However I think this place is best for take –out . PS: I got 10% off for checking in .!!

This is one of two sushi places near my apartment, the other one lacking in quality. We decided to try this one out since it was nearby, so I came here with my family for a get together. The interior was modern and cute, with many picture frames hanging on the walls. The photos were of kawaii foods neatly arranged in square panels. It seemed more like a take out spot, due to the size. My dad ordered a seafood yaki udon and shrimp tempura, while I ordered a dragon roll, a rock shrimp tempura roll, and a crab and avocado roll. The food was excellent, the tempura really had a nice kick to the sushi. Everything was fresh, the service was good, so this is definitely my new go to local sushi spot.

Great!!! Steamed dumplings were very good and tasty! Sushi was great as well. I had 2 rolls — spicy shrimp & avocado salmon/very refreshing. Not a fan of the miso soup. Other than that thumbs up. They also have outdoor seating

These folks are very sweet. It’s snowing, I’m at the laundromat, and baby it’s cold outside. I wanted a vegetarian lunch and they suggested teriyaki, with brown rice. It’s one of a couple of veg dishes they have, in addition to their veg roll. I wanted hot food but something not super salty. So he said he’d go light in the sauce. He did! In the meanwhile I have some gratis soup and free tea. Lovely. Teriyaki time: well. A+ for pleasant attitude. It made eating lunch near that lech who was a T&A check mission, palatable. But it was a plate of «what-what!!!». Like two slices of potatoes(undercooked at that) 1 piece of carrot. Tiny, tiny mushrooms. 7 – 81″ cubes of green capsicum. Some cabbage and 4 small pieces of broccoli so that’s great. And LOTSANDLOTSOF brown rice. The lech ordered chicken teriyaki and his plate was piled with chicken. I mean, would it have been hard to pile my plate with vegetables? It’s just mean to think that I would ok with a couple of undercooked potato slices as my «nightlight». Ok. I think if I had children and one of them made me this for lunch/dinner, I would be very very very proud. But as I ordered in a restaurant, I am confused. Anyway, I ate the veg, minus the potatoes and the majority of the rice. I left a 50% tip because they were so nice. I’ll try a few other things, especially if it’s snowing when I am doing my laundry because hot tea and hot soup, for free! But never the veg teriyaki, again.

My brother, my sister, and I stopped by here after doing laundry(because this place is conveniently located right next to a Clean Rite), and decided to get take out. The cashier was extremely nice and patient, even when we all changed our minds like 3 times. We ordered the shrimp and chicken teriyaki, and the chicken teriyaki. The wait wasn’t too long, and they packed it for us neatly in plastic containers. The rice was extremely buttery, but it tasted great. The shrimp were cooked nicely, and one dish was enough to last me 2 meals.(Perhaps I don’t eat a lot, though.). I want to come back to try the specials they offer for checking in on Unilocal and what not(although it’s not offered as a check in special on the app?). Their sushi also looks really good.

Great place for Sushi Take Out or Eat In. The sushi is fresh and made on spot. The chicken teriyaki is delicious. I recommend going there to try it out, especially during the weekends from 12 – 5 when it is 30% off your entire order. The Seafood salad is fresh and amazing. The rock shrimp is crunchy and yummy. Definitely check this place out.

50% off on rock shrimp app for just checking in and on top of that, 30% off entire order for paying cash? Yes, please. For apps, I got the rock shrimp and chicken dumplings. Friend got the seafood salad(which I know it as sashimi salad from other sushi places). First off, I want to rave about this seafood salad. OHMYGOODNESS. Honestly, I wish I replaced the dumplings with this salad. The dressing is delicious– tangy and sweet and I can also taste wasabi in it but it’s not spicy at all. The sashimi in it is really fresh which I think made it even more yummy. I definitely will order this by myself next time I go. Shrimp had a nice, crispy texture complimented with a creamy sauce that had a little spicy kick to it. Def recommend these two! Dumplings were good but nothing special; the dipping sauce was good, though. For entrée, just had the Long Island roll which I really liked. like I said before, the sashimi and ingredients are fresh and all the flavors/textures went really well together. Overall– fresh sushi and good prices? A win in my book. Will be coming back. Btw– this place is more takeout-ish but they do have seating there. It’s clean too.

I was in the area helping a friend apartment search. We saw Masaki was running a 30% off promotion between 12−5pm on the weekends so we decided to stop in and check it out. There is minimal seating, probably 10 total. This seems like more of a grab-and-go or take out spot. The décor was simple and nice, very clean bathroom(+). The menu is pretty cheap to begin with, but with the extra discount on top, it came out to super cheap! –Rock shrimp tempura($ 8) hands down, the best rock shrimp tempura I have ever had! The batter remained crunchy until we were done with every last piece. Definitely get this –Seafood salad($ 9) Idk what they mixed into the sauce but OMG good! Also a must-get! –Black pepper tuna salad($ 9) I am not a big fan of tuna, but the quality was fresh –Chicken teriyaki($ 5.50) this chicken teriyaki puts the little teriyaki stands in malls to shame. Such a great value –Sashimi($ 16) for 15 pieces of fresh fish. The standout fishes were the salmon and the white tuna which was torched and glazed with some sauce. So good! I could eat a whole plate –Long Island roll($ 12) shrimp roll topped with lobster salad. They are very generous with the amount of lobster they serve –Ruby roll($ 11) standard specialty roll, not a fan of tuna. I was very surprised that this little joint had such good quality food. The seafood/sushi we ordered was very fresh, comparable to more expensive places in the city. I just wish they would open one closer to where I live, I’d eat here every day! Can’t beat the quality and price. Even though this is more of a take-out joint, they offered us tea and water for the two hours we were there.
