Burger village is Conveniently located in Park Slope 7th ave near a few other restaurants and of course their main competition: Bare burger. I think it’s impossible to not compare and contrast the two as their initiatives are the same. To serve quality, not processed, organic, non GMO, integrity food in a fun and hip atmosphere. This place does a pretty good job of it. The menu offers the same choices to the sense of if you want your crazy burger beef(like bison or elk) you got it. They have a selection of sides and desserts to accompany these delicious burgers as well, organic soda and hotdogs. So who has the better product? Honestly it’s the same to me. Both bison burgers are cooked very juicy. Burger villages multi grain bun was more moist and bouncy and therefore more fresh than any time eaten at bare burger. The Cajun fries were large enough for two which was nice. Where this place shines is it’s about 1 – 4 dollars cheaper per plate for the same thing without sacrificing quality. I see a ton of other reviews on this place bashing it and comparing it to bare burger. This is coming from a bare burger loyalist«it’s the same damn thing… and that’s a good thing» The seating here is significantly better than bareburger… seriously, at BB you on ONTOPOFEACHOTHER. This place manages to capitalize on seats(profit) while giving New Yorker’s the space they need, whether it’s on a date, hanging with friends or having intimate conversations. This place is more or less the same as bareburger, and that’s not a bad thing. They put their own spin on it to make it their own. At the end of the day, the place I will go to is whoever has the beat seat available and least amount of wait time. #Capitalism Regardless, I’d suggest all to try it out for themselves and form their own opinion

Came in here on Christmas Day looking for some food(everything was closed except for this place) well I was pleasantly surprised– and happy that I came in here. It’s beautiful and stylish on the inside, and comfortable too. The place just has a good inviting energy. We were greeted when we came in and seated. The overall service was really good. And the food we got was wonderful and fresh. They are 100% organic, and turns out the organic here = yummy. They also have some beers and wine(pretty cool). To sum it all up, this place is so great and worthy of a visit. They have converted a new customer and fan out of me:)

Excellent burger and the gluten free bun was tasty. Enjoyed the gluten free cheesecake. Service was a bit slow for the amount of business they had.

Oh New York! Where are your good burger places? New York, New York! The city of lights and lame burgers. Just kidding. I’m still in search for a good burger place! Anyway, I tried Burger Village this evening; it was a group order, and we had take out. I ordered a turkey burger with fries. First off, the people doing the orders did not specify the difference between the two turkey burgers! I had mozzarella on mine and the other was pepper jack cheese. That was the only difference.(b/t the two; we had the same toppings and everything else) So how are we suppose to tell which burger is which? I’m not a superhero! I’m a hungry customer. :( Onto the taste; the burger is okay. not mediocre, not amazing. Just alright. The fries were plentiful, but were meh. Not terrible; sort of good, but they taste like. fries you can get anywhere. Lame, but acceptable I guess. For $ 15, I’m not so impressed. These days, burgers are really pricey, so I’m not impressed with the quality of the burger, nor the way they labeled the burgers.

This place did not do it for me-I can’t tell you how much my friends and i miss cheeburger cheeburger. This place can not compare. The service is slow and the food is extremely mediocre. Food is expensive and if you want a good burger that is expensive go to bareburger which is 10 times better. We were very disappointed with the atmosphere and the burgers were not great. My friend got a gluten free bun and was not impressed by.

Maybe it was the country music being played the entire time I was here, but Burger Village felt less like a burger joint in Brooklyn, and more like some rest stop type restaurant in a Podunk town off the NY Thruway. Then I looked up and saw the unavoidable reminders plastered literally everywhere about how organic, all-natural, grass-fed, artisan, pesticide-free, herbicide-free, GMO-free, rBGH-free, rRGB-free, rBFG-free, rROYGBIV-free, blah blah blah all of their ingredients are, and I thought, OK maybe this balances out the scales a bit. Calling attention to this as much as humanly possible is clearly super important to BV, but damn, what is this? A resumé? A LinkedIn profile? An essay where you’re struggling to hit that word count? We get it, bro. You like a good burger, but hey, you’re also a bit of a health nut. Funny thing is, you can taste the difference. Go figure, right? My burger meat was the best part of my experience here, damn near healthy-tasting even, so I suppose they’re onto something with their approach. And for a place called Burger Village, I’d say that the burger patty itself is the #1 thing you want to get right, and they do. For me, it was a bit of a moment of clarity accepting the fact that I like dirtier, unhealthier, messier fare when it comes to my burgers, but that’s less Burger Village’s problem, and more mine. At the end of the day, it was still surprisingly better than expected. The menu is a bit overwhelming, with meat and«not-meat»(as they call it) burger options in the double digits, including Bison(which was tempting), Elk, Ostrich, and Wild Boar, among others. Like ordering a plain slice at a pizza joint so as at to get a barometer on the place, I went with the Burger Village Original — your regular ground beef option. From there, they list out a bunch of suggested topping combos, but I just ended up making my own by going classic with some bacon, cheddar, grilled onions, and their Signature Sauce(mayo-based, as most«Signature Sauces» tend to be). Again, admittedly a good burger, even though I’m not likely to have the most Pavlovian of responses next time I walk by here since I may or may not have the taste-buds of a cretin. In terms of price, you probably pay a bit more for the CVS-receipt length list of organic super powers they so proudly advertise. Somehow that translates to Park Slope parents bringing their kids here — feeding them better quality food since they happen to have the extra dough? — so be prepared for well-to-do and well-fed adolescents in attendance. And maybe that’s why I can’t give Burger Village a ringing endorsement personally while at the same time recognizing they put out a good product. I was obviously raised on pesticide-riddled kids menus, forever ruining the chances of a one day health-conscious palate. Thanks, Mom!

Gluten-free and vegetarian? Keep reading. The burger and fries were three stars. The restaurant’s unethical practices of charging customers with gluten health issues additional money for gluten-free buns, charging extra for cooking onions(really?), and charging extra for wrapping burgers in lettuce(seriously?) = 2 stars. Maybe meat eaters will enjoy their meals more? I ordered via Eat 24. I ordered the Beanstalk Village Black Bean Burger and spiced fries. The ingredient list includes grilled jalapenos. Yum. The burger came with onions, so I included a note to please grill my onions. I didn’t think that was difficult, given the jalapenos. Cooking onions seems to be a struggle for this restaurant. So much so, that they will charge you 99 cents extra to grill your onions. Strange, since their salads include sauteed onions. They offer onion rings, which are deep fried. Perhaps they built the 99 cent charge into the price of these items? No idea. I received a call 10 minutes after my order to alert me to this 99 cents charge, and to have cash ready. I laughed, said no thank you, and no onions. I let them know I’d include the phone exchange in my review. I got my burger and fries. Because I refuse to pay extra for the gluten-free bun or wrapping my burger in a piece of lettuce, I tossed the brioche bun in the trash. My deconstructed burger was meh. The black bean patty was dry. In an apparent change of heart, the restaurant included sauteed onions on my burger. The fries were spicy, but tasted weird. I may give this place one more try for a milkshake if I’m near them, but not food. Not yet.

I have two issues with this place. First, and probably most important, the burger was not good. It was dry and lacking flavor. Second, they charged us for seltzer water, which is usually free(especially from a soda fountain). These are just deal breakers. It’s too bad because the place has potential, but there are better, similar options nearby. It’s too bad because our waitress was great and the salsa and side dishes were fine. . But, a burger joint is about the burgers and this place touts premium products(eg — grass fed beef and humanely raised animals), which sets a high expectation for a quality meal. If I had to guess, I’d say these burgers were cooked on a flat top and under season and overlooked(eg — squished the meat in the grill and lost all the moisture). Oh well. I won’t be back, nor can I suggest this place to a friend. For the price, it was disappointing.

Came here after work with good friends. I had the chicken sandwich with the seasoned fries. I think I liked the fries more than the burger but both were yummy! With the sandwich, I had the Skinny(I think it was called) without the honey mustard. It was a good choice! I asked for multigrain buns instead of the regular one and boy am I glad I tried that instead. The fries came with a choice of two sauces, I had the signature dip and the chipotle ketchup, both were delish! Definitely worth a try!

I wouldn’t really call this place a Poor Man’s Bare Burger since the prices are right around the same as the other organic, non gmo competitor two blocks away. This was my first time visiting Burger Village. A dear friend of mine recommended it so I said sure why not. With such a close proximity to Bare Burger I feel like Burger Village’s clientele are people who don’t wanna wait over an hour for a grass fed piece of meat. I went with the Lamb burger on a multigrain with crumbled goat cheese with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and red onions. Decided to try their special sauce which tasted like a combination of mayo and chipotle sauce, but I enjoyed it. Of course, I got the burger medium rare. Shared an order of fries with my friend and I have to say they were pretty good. I like handcut fries. The food at Burger Village was pretty good. It was definitely a tasty burger, but the reason I’m giving this place 3 stars instead of 4 is because of the wait staff. The food was brought out on a very large tray, that the waitress was struggling to carry. Thankfully for her we were seated not too far away from the kitchen and no food was dropped. She did, however, ask us to take what we ordered off the tray because she couldn’t hold the tray and serve at the same time. Not cool in my book. Another issue I had were the uncomfortable bar stools they sat us on. Overall Burger Village is a good place to grab a burger. I visit Park Slope often, so next time I’m in the area and in the mood for a burger I’d probably look past the mediocre service and uncomfortable chairs and go for the burger.

Burger Village was perfect for our family’s Father’s Day dinner. It has enough meat and un-meat options to please everyone, terrific service, a relaxing vibe and upbeat 90’s top 40 music. We came kinda late, after the dinner crowd(cause of the Seventh Heaven street fair), so there was no problem pushing a few tables together for our group, but next time we’ll make a reservation. Our waitress was sweet about checking with the kitchen on special diets. The orders came out quickly and with no mistakes. I had a tasty«un-meat» Shroom Burger on multigrain bun, a fresh house salad with Japanese ginger dressing, and a hard cider. Everyone else enjoyed their food, nobody had any complaints about anything, and everyone wants to come back. And a big plus – Organic, non-GMO, humanely raised – yay! Awesome!

Burger you say? Do you wish it to be organic, free of antibiotics, hormones, rGBH, pesticides, herbicides, preservatives, GMOs? Would you feel better if the meat was raised sustainably, humanely(pasture raised) and environmentally friendly?(I mean who wouldn’t?) no one ever said can I have an extra side of pesticides in my burger, right? If you answered yes to any of the above questions or if you just like a yummy burger with fresh ingredients you’ve found a favor friendly spot on 7th ave. Even the Bison is superb — not at all dry like bison tends to get. I also highly recommend the Cola. It’s a special kind that is reminiscent of Mexican coke, but better. Lastly, the fries are excellent. Skins on and just the right crunch. Pull up a chair for friendly service and a casual atmosphere with a solid burger for a fair price.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Burger Village. After seeing the long wait at Bare Burger, just a block away, my family and I figured why not check out Burger Village? The concept seemed like a more niche version of Bare Burger and the restaurant was larger, more spread out. We really liked their focus on GMO free and organic food. We were seated immediately were impressed with the menu. My mother is gluten-free so we were even happier with how accommodating they were. I settled on a lamb burger with a lettuce wrap with Tzatziki sauce, and sauteed mushrooms. I asked the waitress what was on the vegetable plate and she told me carrots, broccoli, and a wide array of veggies. I decided to get the veggie plate as well. Unfortunately, that is where the good experience stopped. We waited around a half hour for food. During the time, the waitress never stopped by to update us on the status of our food or to refill waters. My mother eventually got up and asked her where our food was to which she responded, «I’ll check on it.» We also asked for more water. Clearly she had just forgotten about us entirely, as in under two minutes, our food was all ready for us, and brought to us immediately. My burger was cold, there was no Tzatziki sauce and the flavor was bad. The vegetable plate, while tasty, didn’t have broccoli or any of the vegetables she’d mentioned. In addition, both of my parents’ burgers were cold as well. We had to ask for water again 10 minutes later and the waitress didn’t check on us or visit our table afterwards. When we told the waitress, after having to flag her down to get her attention to our table, that we were disappointed, she told us she would let the kitchen know. At the end of the meal, she ended up taking the vegetable plate off our bill and not charging us for the Tzatziki sauce. Though this was an effective solution for the time being, I wouldn’t return to Burger Village. I felt completely ignored and the food wasn’t worth the long wait. I’d rather wait 20 minutes for a table at BareBurger next time.

Service, A to Z, in America: (Curtain rises. We are in a burger joint in Brooklyn, NY. The word«organic» is plastered on every wall, window, t-shirt, table and chair in the place. Customer A and Customer B enter from stage left. A Host, cutish girl, 25ish, stands at attention by the door half smiling.) Host: Hello. Just the two of you today? (Customers nod. Host grabs menus and leads Customers to random table. Customers wait a few minutes. Enter several servers, standing, watching the floor, including the Waiter, also mid-20’s, staring, somewhat numb. He moves to the table.) Waiter: … So, do you know what you want? (Customers order. Waiter exits. A couple minutes later Waiter returns.) Waiter: We’re out of the Scotch ale. Can I get you something else? (Customer re-orders. Lights fade to black. Lights rise, ten minutes have passed. Plates are delivered. Customers eat and drink something organic. Customers wait for bill, then signal another waiter, who brings bill. Customers pay bill, passing Host as they exit, who makes brief eye contact. Scene.) I think this is likely the reason so many restaurants have given up on the table service model, opting for a counter ordering system instead. What’s the host’s role here, anyway? Is it necessary? If you’re going to have a server, shouldn’t they do something other than ask you what you want? This isn’t a complaint, I just feel like this place, and plenty others, can shake it up a bit. Ask customers where they’d like to sit; don’t start the server/customer interaction with a «know what you want?» thing. If you like earth-friendly beef(save all of that carbon flatulence during the production of it), this is the organic place to go.

Lettuce wrap turkey burger– This was my lettuce wrap turkey burger. Pretty sure they skimped on the turkey burger(4 bites total) and added an entire head of lettuce. 3rd time at this place, the first two were fantastic. Utterly disappointed, not sure of a return, but hey are definitely receiving a complaint. But– they did apologize for their mistakes and offered a 20% discount on our bill– redeeming

Burger Village was an absolute treat! We went on a TUesday evening at 7 and there were three other tables full. We picked a cozy seat in the corner and ordered two beers off their draft list. Tackling food next, we picked out our meat(or non-meat) patty and all the fixings! If you want a plain beef patty on brioche with any cheese and all the veg on top — it is only 10 $. I had lamb and added bacon and a special sauce. Which added about 2.50 $. The burgers do not come with fries, so we ordered a basket of Frings — half fries and half onion rings. The food came about 10 – 15 minutes later, a perfect amount of time. The lamb burger was the BEST i have ever had. The meat was so tender and juicy and seasoned perfectly. The brioche bun was buttery and squished down. The bacon was the exact right crispiness. My partner had a beef burger with various toppings that he also loved. The fries were delicious, but more importantly — the onion rings were again the BEST! There were only lightly battered and very thin and big. I also loved the house sauce. We really enjoyed our evening and loved the 90s music. Our only suggestions would be to increase the representation of craft beers and lower the cost of the basics by 1 $ just to make having a second more likely. The atmosphere was not cozy, which I prefer, but it is a style decision that works for their approach! Overall — amazing food that is ethically sourced and organic. The price is totally right. This is exactly what I always wished Bareburger was. Thanks for coming to the neighborhood!
