This place has a lot going on. They sell pastries, cheese, homemade ice cream/gelato, sandwiches and more. The only thing I’ve tried is their cake. Their chocolate cake literally melts in your mouth. Its moist and über chocolaty. I wasn’t too pleased with the price but I would buy it over and over and over again. Its about $ 35 for a bundt and $ 17 for half a bundt. The also have a buttercream cake for those of you non chocolate lovers. Not one of my favorites but my guests enjoyed it.

Ordered a cheese of the month and salami of the month club for my parents. First shipment arrived Xmas Eve — ordered it only two days prior. Beautiful box full of fresh, high-quality products with interesting descriptions.

Meh I’m underwhelmed I’ve been passing this place as long as I can remember and I decided to pop in hoping to finally find some good Prosciutto in my hood .WELL the 24month had little hard pieces in it and a strange after taste .Also their Manchego Cheese was stale .I was hoping to fall madly in love with Brooklyn larder but I’m picky about my shit… I will stick to little Italy for my Italian processed meat fix .The baked goods weren’t fresh either.

OOOOOH. This place, my goodness. The cheeses are to DIE for. I ordered the Roast Beef sandwich and there was a spiciness to it that made the experience complete. As to the desserts– the cookies are awesome. I had the peanut butter cookie and it was MASSIVE, and who doesn’t like cookies. Of course, being the coffee lover that I am, I had the organic blend for the and left feeling content. Before I forget, the finishing touch was the cheese I left with — I took a Sharp Cheddar home for lunch the following day and paired with crackers and some grapes, I was not left wanting. The staff of course was amazing– they answered my seemingly endless questions and even made recommendations. I left happy and so will you. –Happy eating.

Brooklyn Larder does a lot of different things. They have their own gelato. They do ice cream. They prepare sandwiches. They have local artisinal stuff. And they have meat and cheese. But somehow, I just wanted… more. Their cheese selection is great, but their staff is terrible at multi-tasking. I don’t know why you can’t also help us just because there’s an indecisive person trying out all the cheese options. Their cured meats selection is also pretty weak. They have a few interesting things, but it’s not as comprehensive as you would get at say Bedford Cheese Shop or Murray’s. Maybe I’ll be back to try their sandwiches. They looked pretty good.

This place is cheese heaven. I love everything about it and the service is so great! Walking into places like this can be a little intimidating if you don’t know a lot of the product, but the staff is very friendly and more than helpful with any questions you may have. Went in here to buy a few cheeses and charcuterie and couldn’t decide on the cheese so the man behind the counter offered samples and suggestions depending on my taste buds. Walked away with 4 different kinds and each one was perfect for our cheese plate. The lady who rung us up was very sweet and offered great help when selecting a baguette to go with it all. Nothing bad to say to about this place except it isn’t cheap; but good quality is hard to find and you get what you pay for!

I love this place. I adore the people who work here. I miss being a regular. The staff made it worth it, they would remember me and were always so sweet! It really makes a difference in the level of service you get if you take the time to have a non-scripted interaction with the staff. I mean, I think that’s true anywhere, but I think many people might be missing out on a stellar experience here because they are treating the counter staff like automatons, and in turn they are being treated as nonentities to be moved along the conveyor belt of sandwiches. Actually…I love Larder so much that I had to block its very existence out of my memory. I’m getting bummed right now since I’ve started thinking about the fact that it’s still around but I can’t go whenever I feel like it anymore. The food is incredible. Every single thing they do to vegetables is an amalgamation of magic and mystery. And I cook food constantly, 99% of which consists of vegetables. Do they have some kind of special oven? I don’t know. And their soup is worth it, too – they make stock the right way, totally from scratch. I agree that many things are overpriced, but whatever, it’s a business in a prime piece of real estate and considering the amount of work that clearly goes into the food, they really have to stay open somehow – it’s not just an arbitrary saying. And if they’re able to stay in business because some Park Slope bobo with a taste for the unattainable, and a lack of impulse control bolstered by a full wallet, doesn’t mind dropping $ 20 on a bar of chocolate, so be it. Selling goods at a given price isn’t an insult, it’s an offer, one that a customer either chooses or refuses to accept. I’m not sure how to tie this all together. Suffice to say, I can’t say enough nice things about this place.

This place is okay, but really depends on who’s working. They have a lovely(if pricey) selection of goods, so if you don’t mind paying a premium and you know exactly what you want every time you go in you’ll probably always have an enjoyable experience. However, I always like to try new things when I go so my visits depend a lot on who’s behind the counter on any given day. Sometimes the person helping me is wonderful, enthusiastic and informative. Other times I seem to end up with someone who thinks it’s an absolute chore to answer my questions or help me find something I like, or who thinks it’s cool to roll their eyes when I don’t know the difference between two kinds of cheese. Maybe I’m nuts but I don’t think there’s really any room for a pretentious, exclusive attitude when you’re dealing with smiling customers who want to buy expensive crap from you. I’m happy to go to Murray’s instead, where they have a much larger selection and much more pleasant employees.

Immorally overpriced and pretentious, BKLYN Larder is an embarrassment to the borough. On Flatbush between 5th and 6th ave? How did it ever come to this?

A friend brought me the turkey sandwich and it was very good. Really enjoyed the pickled onions. The bread was a little hard but overall it was a great sandwich.

3.5 stars — Cute shop with a good selection of food products, and friendly service, but skip the vegetable sides because they’re seriously overpriced. $ 14/lb for a side of vegetables? Yikes, that’s way too much. I had the roasted cauliflower and roasted carrots, and they were flavorful, but it wasn’t worth the money. For comparison, at Whole Foods similar sides go for $ 8/lb, and even then, that’s quite a bit. There’s a small sitting area, so you can dine-in or take-out. FYI: you can call to place an order for pick-up

Went here to procure meat and cheese. The woman at the counter was very helpful, she gave us numerous meat and cheese samples and some good recommendations. The gelato looked delicious too. Almost everything was out of my budget. The next time my mother(who isn’t concerned with budgets) visits me, I will get her to take me here and buy me gelato, cheeses, bacon, candies, and vinegars.

There are so many good reasons to love this place. Their products are always fresh and their shelves are always well stocked. You can get so many awesome food stuffs here ranging from prepared foods, homemade ice creams, fresh dairy, desserts, meats and packaged products like honey, nut butters, oils, teas and so much more. The staff are always really friendly. Whenever I stop by to grab something, I always linger at the counter to stare at all the goodies. The counter is packed tight with caramels, chocolates, cookies and chips. The staff is always ready to check you out but also willing to hang out for a minute while you look around, so it never feels like you’re being rushed. The only downside to this place is the price. I spend a little over $ 4.00 on 64oz of milk at the park slope food coop and it’s $ 3.50 here for 32oz. Then again, they probably pay a ridiculous amount of money on rent so for the area, the price is fairly typical. Either way, I’ll be back.

This place is were foodies come to drool! There is all those special ingredients you are looking for. From canned sardines to fancy beers and even some international candies. And how can you not be mesmerized by the cheese collection. I am especially drawn to the baked goods at this spot. I felt like good treats were lacking in Park Slope. And now it not only has delicious baked goods but they are those perfectly balanced desserts like Almond Cake, Orange Sesame Cake and Olive Oil Cake. I like stopping by here when I myself don’t have time to bake but I need a fix of something delicious. Highly recommended but I will warn you that you will want to buy everything!

I came into BKLYN Larder last minute to buy some cheese and crackers for a housewarming party. I was impressed with how well the store was laid out and how attentive the staff was. I ventured over to the cheese section to pick my poison for this party. I wanted something that was a crowd pleaser but still had some character. The man behind the counter spend a good 15 minutes helping me decide which cheese would be the best fit for my needs. He let me sample several cheeses and we slowly narrowed it down to the final 2. We decided on a brie-esque cheese with a little more zing to it. It was a GREAT choice everyone at the party loved it. It was the first cheese to disappear on the cheese platter. It was really nice to have someone who knew a lot about cheese guide my decision. I definitely appreciated the time he took helping me decide. Great customer service I will be frequenting this establishment often when I am in the neighborhood.

I tried so much to avoid this place, and wanted so badly to dislike it, as I find Franny’s to be the most overhyped, overrated restaurant in my fair borough — nay, the whole city. However, if you live in the area and like to cook at all, the breadth of unique, high-quality products are unparalleled. Need freekah? No problem! Recipe randomly suggests champagne or grenache vinegar — of course! As I’ve come here more often, willingly rather than begrudgingly, I’ve tried some of their prepared foods, which have been quite good. The cheese selection is incredible, and they have excellent craft beer and local coffee/tea/pantry options as well. The prices unfortunately don’t let you forget that you are shopping at a high-quality/specialty store — they pretty much run the gamut from«I guess I could have expected that» to «Seriously? I mean, does that come with a hand job or something?» — but its still a good spot when you’re willing to see the«get what you pay for» scale to fall heavily on the quality side as opposed to the thrifty side. Finally, based solely on personal experience, I would confidently estimate that you have about a 40% chance of a Maggie Gyllenhaal sighting here.

Oh holy mother of everything cheese. This spot is like a dream. Walking by it looks like any ol’ shop you would find in the city. But as soon as that door opens and that ahh mazing smell hits you– fuggetaboutit. This shop is beautiful, aside from the monster cheese case in the back they’ve got this white/glass/reclaimed wood thing going on. And should you want to hang and grab a bite to eat they’ve got lovely high top reclaimed wood tables up front. The staffers were super nice and offered me up what felt like an endless supply of cheese samples. In reality it was like 3 samples and damn were they good. I asked the gal behind the counter if I could try something that I’d probably never heard of. She smiled and handed me a little slice of the most delicious creamy nutty cheese from some tiny town in Europe. And that girl knew her cheese– she explained origin, process, etc and I just stood there with a dumb look on my face b/c well — I like cheese. She was awesome though, after I came to she offered up a couple other samples– an amazing parm and a goat cheese that was just so. freakin’. good. Loved the vibe in this shop, loved the staff, loved the cheese. There is a full menu behind the counter of sandwiches, and baked goods to order up. As well as plenty of specialty oils, mustards, boxes of cookies, and bags of candy. Next time I’m in the neighborhood I’m stopping by for lunch, goshdarnit, and maybe some snacks to take home.
