Do you like good Margaritas? This small place is very cool & they have a great backyard. They also have Live Music! I will definitely be coming back here. Thanks!

Best. Backyard. Ever. Decent beer select, could be better, wish it was. $ 6 gin and tonics and when I order a house whiskey to shoot, it was a generous pour when I most needed it. Thank you, Bar Chord, for being my new neighbor. Update! Oh yeah, best little bar without food in Ditmas Park. And that means you can bring a bite from home or grab Paki Taxi from around the corner. Also, finally a place with a decent glass of wine. Happy hour is happy!

Great, original space. I love the variety of live music. The backyard is an oasis. There have been some great bartenders here, but the guy working on this Monday night is awful… Borderline rude. They need some talent behind the bar!

Only been on Sundays: great live jazz music. A lot of seating space and mixed crowd. I’ve stuck to regular drinks at the bar, but they have variety. Bartender needs some extra help, think she’s in charge of too much on her own(drinks, drunks and all general bar events).

4 stars for the frequent live music. 2 stars for the lackluster tap list and overworked bartenders. 4 stars for the space. I’ll round it off to 4 stars for Bar Chord. Going through the week is much more pleasant as the place is typically only half full. On a weekend evening however, expect standing room only if you arrive after 8pm. It’s popular for a reason as on any given night you could hear some quality music here. The atmosphere is very cool, it feels like a down to earth neighborhood spot. It’s for sure less of a scene than it’s down the street neighbor«Sycamore», and generally everyone at Bar Chord is much nicer. When I’m in the area I will hang out and drink here for sure. I just hope it’s a weeknight. Definitely worth checking out this place.

I don’t need to drink much, but there is always a great beer here to enjoy while listening to the live music. Live music? Enough said, and great for Ditmas Park, and I’m sure it makes the Q train feel more useful. Go see music and drink.

My date and I ended up here after lunch from Lea around the corner. I gotta say I love it. Small and personal. Nice selection of liquor and beer. Left handed milk stout was AWESOME! Nice lighting and the jukebox is an eclectic collection of laid back and mellow tunes. Nice calm and serene vibe. I will go back when I visit Brooklyn next time.

Always happy when here. Live music is always great and the bartenders are always fun to talk too. Highly recommended this place. Also the drink Evette Collins is delicious.

Pretty chill and laid back bar. Came here once really early in the night and we were the only ones there, but as the night wore on more people started to fill in. The drinks are cheap and stiff. I bought 3 drinks and it came out to like $ 17 or something. That’s a steal in NY. There is an outdoor area where there is plenty of areas to sit if the inside of the bar gets to be too packed.

I feel so bad for the people that walk by, curiously look inside for a minute, see a kick-ass band playing, but perhaps due to intimidation, or inability to change their routine — keep walking! I have literally discovered what came to be some of my favorite bands here. Genuine Appalachian bluegrass bands, honky-tonk bands, classic country bands… There’s just about every type of band that plays here(aside from death metal, unfortunately). I spent a week in Nashville and didn’t see a single band that comes close to Honky and Ladytown, Strung Out String Band, Folkfoot, John Pinamonti or Bourbon Sprawl and a few of the other regular bands that have played here. These guys are just authentic. Sick guitar and steel/slide guitar players in some of these bands! Some really talented jazz bands play here as well. Not so into the Latin or funk music though. But plenty of those play here as well. You can check out the calendar on their website, which tells you who’s playing when. Be sure to tip the bands! They’re just so good that it’s extremely surprising that they are playing in this little bar. I guess that’s just how the music industry works these days. I generally drink the decent selection of tap beers(Flower Power and Bengali Tiger IPA’s), but I know that they’re very serious with their cocktails. Their whiskey selection is good too(try the Pine Barron, which I believe is somehow a distilled beer made into a single malt. Really surprising single malt). Live music-wise, you will not find anything like it around — the closest is maybe Skinny Dennis in Williamsburg. Barchord is not as hipster as Sycamore and seems to attract a less gentrified but more comfortable clientele. Not sure if they ever sold a guitar here, but they do have them on display and have a price board for those, strings and what-not. What else? Free pretzels. You can order food in. Frank is a great, attentive, professional bartender. Painted art on the backyard wall that people seem to like. Great place!

We were in a mood for drinks, and most bars in the area were closed. We stopped at this cute bar and we are happy the rest were closed since we discovered a cool bar with good drinks. The bar tender– very professional, and gave us the best recommendation about red wine. The bar– long, dark and happy. They have tables, sofa section and the bar itself. Prices– average. Great discover. Visit!

My *other* favorite bar in the neighborhood. Sometimes the music is good, sometimes not, but I appreciate that it’s a small venue in the neighborhood! They have a lovely backyard which is the best in the fall. I even like this place in the afternoon on weekends, when neighborhood folks bring their babies to drink some beers and hang out. The bartenders are also very chill and they have quality craft beer options.

If you’re not familiar with music terminology, the name«Bar Chord» is a guitar term(or I guess any stringed instrument). So it’s no surprise that the place is heavily musically inspired. They have guitars hanging on the wall for sale. They have live music by the entrance. And they have a jukebox. All makings of a fun night. The beer selection is pretty good, and they also have great cocktail options. They also have a cool-looking backyard, but didn’t have a chance to go out there since it was night time and also winter. I wouldn’t say Bar Chord is worth going out of your way for, but if you’re in the area for whatever reason, it’s a cool spot.

So I’ve been here twice already once at night and once during the day. At night it gets packed so get here early especially if you want to sit in the backyard. The bar and backyard is fairly small but really cute. The drinks are yummy and sometimes they sell food outside in the back. They also have live music here. It’s also a really great place for day drinks. Love the cozy backyard.

I think it is the coolest place in the area. The only problem is that it can too hot in here. So I guess that when the winter arrive I will raise it to 5 stars lol They have live band in weekends, which make it a great place for drinks and live music. And it is not too big, so you can still feel cozy in a neighborhood place. The bartender was very friendly, and professorial, which is important when you don’t stick to one drink, and open to suggestions. The whole area is developing, and you can drink eat and do grocery shopping at one corner.

One of my favorite bars in the neighborhood. Been here numerous times and the service has been consistent. Off course I wish they had frozen sugary drinks but I understand that this is a mature bar. The crowd tends to be a little older but the place is perfect with the live music playing… I do wish there was a better placement for the band because they are right by the door making it awkward to walk out. There is a backyard which is pretty cool. I will keep coming back!

This is one of the great bars in Ditmas Park that arose out of gentrification, for better or worse. It’s the only predominant music venue in the area, with live acts practically every night. The drinks are around the same prices as the other bars, maybe a bit more, but you’re also paying for the atmosphere. The backyard is a great place to hang out and smoke, even during the winter. It would be nice if they weather-proofed the backyard though(maybe they added a tent, I haven’t been there in a while). As a DJ, I wish I was allowed to play there, but it’s limited to live music only. The place might seem kinda awkwardly small for a music venue, and it gets too loud inside to talk to friends. I’d love to chill at the bar without any bands playing sometime. It would be nice if they added a TouchTunes jukebox. Cons: –High prices, especially for cocktails. Prices mirror those of a Manhattan bar. The happy hour specials aren’t much better. –Music can be too loud to have a conversation. –Can get really crowded. –No DJ acts.)= –Too small for a dancefloor. Pros: +Many of the bands are really good, covering a variety of genres like Afro, Jazz, Reggae. +Cheap beer is available. +The people that go there are pretty chill.

Behold, the holy grail of neighborhood watering holes. I had been craving a chill place to enjoy a well mixed drink, summer breeze and friendly atmosphere in the hood. A friend led me here on a Friday night after getting yelled at by an intoxicated swarm of youngstas at Sycamore. The possibilities at Bar Chord are endless. Want conversations about astrological signs and the goodness of fresh cherries, you can have that. If it’s live music you crave at non ear-shattering levels, you can have that too. Carrying twenty bags with you of various shite you need for work, no worries fore there is room to plop them down next to you. No one gives you any stink eye. No drunkies with poor core strength and volume control ready to take you out. When I say chill, I mean«chillllllllllllllllllllll» in that Matthew Mcconaughey«Dazed and Confused» kind of way. Alright, alright!

Honestly; we only walked in because of the fire at 773(can’t wait for them to come back!!) We were extremely pleasantly surprised at Bar Chord. Our crew was looking for a variety of drinks; ciders, whiskey; beer and there was enough to choose from for everyone. Music was on point and the bartender was great. Knew his drinks, helped make decisions and was on top of his game.
