Service is bad had to ask for water, look like its bothering for water to bring a water. Price is over for fish with saled

With eclectic vibes comparable to The Friendly Toast in Cambridge, I thought this might be my new favorite Brookline breakfast spot. However, the food left no doubt that this would not be the case. My bacon was forgotten, and when it finally came, was extremely undercooked and inedible. The homefries were simply so-so, as were our minuscule mimosas. The everything bagel was the best thing I tried, with it being both doughy and perfectly toasted. The highlight of this experience, however, was our bartender/server(we ate at the bar), who was very upbeat and engaging. We wish she would patron a better breakfast spot in the area so we could as well.

First time brunch at sunny’s boy. Ordered the egg plate with home fries instead of beacon or ham cuz I’m vegetarian. Home fries were cooked with onions, well marinated. Not too salty. But it is just a little bit oily because I’m a very light eater. Everything else was great. Service is above par. Love the environment as well! Definitely will come again.

Went here with my fiancée today. Great prices and the quality was above average. The waitress was really courteous and made sure we were well accommodated. I had the cured salmon bagel sandwich and it was bomb. Definitely coming back soon.

Probably the most disappointing breakfast I’ve ever gotten at any restaurant. If you’re planning on going out, expect sudden upcharges to appear without any warning. Every single person at our table had an additional charge on various things, some of which were supposed to be included according to the menu. For instance, I got pancakes and the server asked«with blueberries?» and I agreed, since the menu described them as having berries and whipped cream. When I got my check, an additional $ 2 was added for the blueberries on an already expensive plate of three small pancakes(which tasted an awful lot like a pancake mix). The food was okay, but nothing was amazing and portions were very small and disappointing for the already expensive costs. The server also kept trying to push pastries and desserts on the table, and even brought over several after we had already asked for the check. I have no problem paying for good food, but I have no time for being tricked into paying prices that weren’t listed anywhere and were, in fact, shown to be a part of the entrée. Do yourself a favor and find another breakfast spot, as this one has little going for it. You know something is wrong with a restaurant when you have a pit in your stomach for the rest of the day because you were tricked into bogus costs. There was a hostess or a busser or someone who was great about filling coffees and waters, which was the only enjoyable part of the restaurant, but if you’re looking for good food and worthwhile pricing, go somewhere else where you’ll be treated like a human and not a cash machine.

Went a few weekends ago. Trendy décor, decent food. Had the Turkey Club, fries were good. Simple food, Brookline prices. What are ya gonna do? Would love to see some southern food.

First, I’m willing to try again and not just because this is in my neighborhood. I think it has real potential and I’m up for trying out their breakfast. The dinner fare was fine. I had a flatbread with duck, apple, and blue cheese and my husband had the«TV dinner». I also ordered a side of seasonal vegetables and that was possibly the best decision I made. The flatbread was fine — nothing to write home about but certainly good to eat. Ordering the side of veggies really rounded out my meal. Freshly sauteed kale with some tomatoes and mushrooms. We probably got a little too excited for the TV dinner meal. The turkey was good, gravy alright, and he received the same sauteed kale. The mashed potatoes were fine as was the cranberry sauce. Basically it was fine but you don’t go out to eat for food that’s «fine». The real disappointment was the brownie. Avoid the brownie at all costs!!! It was essentially a block of fudge with a distinct cacao taste and not at all the dense but soft chocolate and sugar concoction I was excited to eat.

We have been living in coolidge corner for a year now and were SO excited to see a new brunch place open in our area. Unfortunately, there is nothing to say other than this place is absolutely terrible. It’s a huge bummer. 1) Ordered the salmon eggs benedict and it came with a hard boiled egg. Whaaaaaat? 2) The pancakes actually tasted like nothing. Nothing. They were chewy dough, at best. The guy was nice enough to take the pancakes off the bill, which is the only reason this place gets one star. We are hoping they are just«working out the kinks» because the area is in dire need to a great brunch place.

When a new place opens near me I get excited. I wanted to like sunny boy it just was … Bad. The food was below average for breakfast and very overpriced. I’ll pay 10 for a egg with an English muffin but it better be perfect. This didn’t have salt. The bacon was underdone. I wanted to like the place so badly I went back 3 times and each time he service was a mess and the food subpar. Won’t be going back and doubt they’ll survive long.

Three stars for potential? Menu looked great, interior was cool and inviting, but the staff was clueless if well meaning and the food was, how to say, inexpertly handled? It seemed like it was everyone’s first day. I’m just hoping that it was. We were the only ones in there and the service was just about adequate. I fear the staff would have been quickly overwhelmed if anyone else came in. I asked a few questions no one had the answers to, so I stopped trying. A wan pile of bacon on the grill failed to sizzle or add any aroma to the room. When it arrived, some was blackened, some still flabby and pale. I was really excited when this place opened and was so disappointed after this meal. I may try again in a few months… if it’s still there.

I’ve been here twice now, for dinner and breakfast. I love that a restaurant like this has come to Brookline — there’s a casual, southern, hipster feel to it that isn’t pretentious and not overcrowded. The menu is minimal but I think it’s safe to conclude that they do their food well here, despite some of the criticism that the price is too high. For dinner, we tried the meatballs and house picked veggies. If I can recommend 1 item, it’s definitely the house-pickled veggies. Yum! For entrée, I got the beef stroganoff and he got the Juicy Lucy burger — both were great. Concluded with a brownie sundae which is always the way to go — super rich and brings out the ‘eye roll into the skull’ after the first bite. For breakfast, went with a group and the scrambed eggs, toast, and sausage plate for $ 5 is definitely a steal. Plus, we requested the veggies because I already told you how great they were. PS — They just added a table-top old-school arcade game(Pac-Man!) that’s free to play.

Delicious snacky and breakfast food! The hummus with pickles was really nice. Mac n Cheese good too. Butternut squash soup a bit too thick for my liking.

The moral of the story here is that charging $ 10 for a breakfast sandwich that would cost $ 4.50 down the road at Brighton Café is bad. The real crime, though, is that the $ 10 sandwich here is smaller, not as well-cooked, and wildly varying in consistency from visit to visit. I’ve been here four times, now. Twice, I’ve had runny egg whites, once in a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and once in a regular eggs-over-hard dish. That’s bad. If you can’t properly cook eggs at your breakfast establishment, well… Not helping is the service, by which a huge number of employees are immediately overwhelmed and can’t manage to take orders, serve drinks, or deliver checks with any sense of teamwork. There’s 5+ employees behind the counter and nobody out front dealing with patrons. Anyway, I won’t belabor the point. In a lower price range or with better food, this place is an easy 4 stars. The cocktails are good and I’ve had some success with some of the lunch dishes. But, it’s not in a lower price range, and the food isn’t better. Sorry.

Great service from Adam on a Saturday morning! I went with the Sausage Egg and Cheese sandwich on wheat($ 10) and it was delicious! It’s basically the same as the 2 Egg with Toast and Bacon or Sausage(now listed as $ 10, was $ 8 a few weeks ago!) but seems to be a better value as you get two pieces of their awesome made in-house bread instead of one. The sausage was tasty and the eggs were cooked to perfection. I had to take half home to finish later! Also, this time my friend was not charged extra for raisin walnut bread on her 2 Egg w Toast meal. However, I can’t figure out if it was a typo on the menu or the price has actually gone up for this meal since the last time I visited. It was $ 8 three weeks ago and is now $ 10. My friend was only charged $ 8 and I thought maybe it was because she didn’t want bacon or sausage, but I’m not sure. Very confusing, and even $ 8 is too much for that meal, for sure. Service and my meal was good, but the pricing of some items is too high!

I was so happy to see a casual spot join the neighborhood food scene. I’ve long-hoped for a breakfast option that was available during the week. I’ve been to Sunny Boy twice now, once for lunch and once for breakfast. Both experiences were«meh.» Food for lunch was standard, small menu and my burger was average. The burger had the cheese inside which made the meat over cooked in my opinion and a rather thin patty. Definitely not a juicy burger. My friend’s sandwich was also just«ok.» Nothing spectacular and ingredients didn’t wow us(her veggies were fresh, which we both commented on). We both ordered a fried egg on our sandwiches(something offered on the menu) and both eggs came together on a separate plate, which was odd. My breakfast experience was about the same. Plain Jane food that wasn’t quite«nailed .» Both times our service was great, and the atmosphere is fun(though definitely trying a little too hard with the mismatched thrift store vintage drink ware, etc). I’m thrilled to see another bar in the hood, and have not yet tried any of their cocktails. It’s tough competition on this neighborhood, but I am glad to see a menu that is down-to-earth and an eatery that doesn’t have an hour wait!

Stopped in for first time to grab a quick breakfast. Sat at the bar and talked with Matty. He said they make everything themselves except spirits, hot sauces/ketchup and a few other minor things(forgot what else he said :-) Food was awesome! Eggs Benedict’s are singles and they have options: bacon, sausage or salmon. Couldn’t pick so had both the bacon and sausage. They were cooked perfectly! Just the right softness in the eggs and hollandaise sauce wasn’t too heavy. The bacon was nice n crispy(hate limp bacon), and the sausages were links not patties which was good. Also had the Latkes which were really good. Finely shredded over a sour cream with some homemade applesauce on top. Looks like they’ve got a good little bar and a nice short evening menu as well. Will have to come back for dinner soon.

Since the day I moved to Washington Square, I’ve been saying that this neighborhood is desperately in need of a good place to grab a breakfast or lunch sandwich. I thought Sunny Boy would be the answer to my prayers, but unfortunately it falls a little short for me. Aesthetically, I wouldn’t change a thing. The retro vibe of Sunny Boy is great. But the service has been pretty slow on just about every visit(although in fairness, the first time I ate there were a half dozen school boys ordering milk shakes and understandably that slows things down). Moreover, the menu is a bit too pricey for it to become the«neighborhood spot» I think it’s intended to be. That said, they make a great egg cream and their house-made sodas are fantastic.

I sometimes feel like an impostor in Washington Square, where sophisticated gents have valets pahk their cahs(e.g., Rolls Royce, Maserati). That being said, I salivate over a delicious meal as much as any of those gents. Overall vibe: At Sunny Boy for dinner this evening, I was delighted to find fresh, creatively mixed ingredients for a range of prices. Combined with an aesthetically pleasing outdoors/indoors atmosphere(see light bulb marquee sign, repurposed steal, and fun/funky accents/chalk menus) and extensive and reasonably priced drink menu… well, I think this new Washington Square watering hole has my loyalty. Food itself: The vegetarian offerings, while not overwhelming, certainly allow for choice, which is all I really look for. My partner ‘n crime and myself ended up with beet fries with a ginger aioli(highly recommended), a delicious salad of strawberries, goat cheese, and pistachios, and a homemade linguini with *le gasp* fresh grilled halloumi cheese. The linguini dish had fava beans and fresh corn; a perfect hearty, summer dish. For dessert(yes, dessert) we had a homemade s’mores barwich. Upon facing this worthy foe, I reveled in the ooey gooey choclatey goodness and pondered the physics of a homemade marshmallow. In my mouth. Service: Fabulous. Granted, it was a quiet Monday evening and we were sitting at the bar. But still. Our bartender clearly had extensive experience in the industry. The timing of the dishes was perfect; not too rushed, not long enough to miss anything. He was social when appropriate, but noted social cues and didn’t chat our evening away. Did I mention you can get a Miller High Life for $ 2? I think it’s a small-er than normal bottle, but that doesn’t even matter. A $ 2 champagne(of beer…) In Boston. Be still, my heart. Highly recommended. Will return to try the fish taco…

I went and visited Sunny Boy for lunch during their soft opening. It was a limited menu but it still had some solid options. The bar menu was fully functional, and lets be honest, that’s the most important thing sometimes. This seems to be another great addition to an already excellent culinary neighborhood. The copper bar was really nice too. Our server was helpful and friendly. Bloody Mary — A great bloody mary, need I say more. Well I will… The glassware they use here is very unique. It looks like they pillaged your grandparents cabinets. It realyl adds to the vibe they are going for Mai Tai — A fantastic presentation and perfectly refreshing and delicious. Exactly how you would want your Mai Tai Cheeseburger — Given that this restaurant is from the creators of JM Curley I decided to go with the Cheeseburger. Nothing fancy on the burger, no frills, but perfectly seasoned and medium rare. The most interesting thing about this dish was the pornographically large pickled aparagus

My wife and I decided to grab some brunch Sunday morning and I had heard a some buzz about this little cozy spot in Washington Square Brookline. From the moment we walked in I felt nothing but at home. From the cool rustic décor to the friendly wait staff and the awesome tunes I knew we would have a wonderful meal. I ordered the eggs, bacon, and toast and even though it was a simple dish it was darn tasty! The eggs I requested sunny side up so I could dip the whole wheat bread into the deliciously fresh eggs. The bacon was smokey and crispy. On the side I ordered one of the best white russians I’ve had to this day. I was so happy they had it on the menu! This place is so worth checking out! All I can say is this is going to be a go to spot for us and I wish you guys all the best in getting off the ground! Cheers!
