Lunch on Sunday: Runny eggs, cold hard potatoes with no seasoning, no tea(said their delivery didn’t come in – can’t you just go buy some to make do for the day?), ripped chairs… capped off by absentee server who never checked back after delivering our food, never refilled drinks, and didn’t pick up our plates until 25 minutes after we finished eating. Not what I was expecting, and I won’t be returning.

When I think of the Regal Beagle, one word comes to mind: …meh. Service-wise, I was disappointed. Here’s why: while my friend and I were waiting for a table to clear during brunch, the hostess came to the stand-by area and offered a neighboring couple coffee and tea. Expecting her to ask us the same question, and in need of some coffee, I thought the gesture was kind and professional given the fact that my friend and I had been waiting for as long as(if not longer) than the neighboring couple. However, after they declined the offer, the hostess just walked back to her desk and didn’t even bother asking us if we wanted any. I mean it wasn’t like we were huddling under Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak, she could see us! Not cool. We dealt with the same sort of negligence from the waitstaff during the rest of our brunch too. As for its menu, there isn’t anything particularly spectacular about the food, which is confusing considering some of the items’ prices. And I guess you could also say the prices pay for the service but after my aforementioned story, I don’t think that applies there either. The only thing saving it from a one-star review is the fact that it’s conveniently located in Coolidge Corner, which is close to home for me. If it wasn’t for that I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t come back. That being said, there are better brunch options in Boston that are probably more worthy of your(and my) time.

I went to the Regal Beagle for brunch recently. The food was pretty basic and disappointing. I had the fish tacos. They were deep fried which wasn’t noted on the menu(cumin-line marinated cod was how they were described). The tortillas had some wilted lettuce and a few pieces of red pepper on it and a strange vinaigrette. The side salad was tiny, and would qualify as more of a garnish than side. My friend’s meals — eggs and toast, and the salmon benedict were ok, nothing special. They came with homefries, which were about 10 pieces of bland potatoes. It may be that coming from Providence and the incredible food scene here that I have overly high expectations for brunch, but I do think that the Regal Beagle could do better. Maybe it’s a better dinner place than brunch, but it just felt like they weren’t trying that hard.

4 stars for the drinks … you speak to my soul you raucous Beagle with those delicious drinks. I started off with a perfect Manhattan and then onto a couple of vodka martinis … clearly that got the night started right. I was at a table of 4 and we had great service the entire night. Lovely greet by the hostess and our waiter was quick with the booze and attentive to the food — what more can one ask for. I had deviled eggs for an app … it speaks to my pseudo-southern soul. On. Point. I followed with the burger, which was good, but a little on the drier side for medium rare. I like a bit of blood, but nothing that certainly couldn’t have been amended with better instructions on my part. We ended the night with a lemon pudding, which was not tart at all, but a perfect blend of bitter sweet. Alas they’ve changed the menu once again — which I’ve been told they’re want to do — and it looks like it is not on there anymore. But always worth a return to see what new dish they’ve concocted.

This place is a hidden gem. Although small, the atmosphere is a nice mix of upscale and casual. The appetizers are to die for– the lamb meatballs especially. The head bartender is great and created what is now one of my favorite drinks– a tasty rhubarb liquor drink called America’s Sweet Tart. I definitely recommend this adorable bar/restaurant!

My wife and I lived close to here for years and have always wanted to try it out. We were not disappointed, great food the stuffed chicken and salmon tartar were especially delicious. Our server Paige was excellent and attentive and added to the already great atmosphere. Can’t recommend enough!

Three stars because the restaurant is really a nice space to relax and eat. The hostess was not very friendly, but our server was great. They seem to have a decent drink list too. Unfortunately, our food experience was at best, average. The burger was not good and the veggie burger was terrible. Great spot to sit at the bar, but skip the food.

One of the best spots in the Boston area, definitely my favorite in Brookline! Try the girl next door cocktail if you like grapefruit! Every food item I’ve tried has been wonderful, especially the meatball appetizer, the dates and the steak. Wonderful service at the bar/lounge, incredibly comfortable seating(they even have pillows!) If you’re visiting Boston, or if you live here and haven’t checked it out yet, you will not be disappointed!

I have been to Regal Beagle twice now for brunch and each time I leave feeling ripped off. The food is super average and its very overpriced, mediocre experience at best. The menu is pretty small and very boring, nothing super mind blowing or imaginative on there, the food itself is very meh. The portions are really small and all the dishes have a distinct lack of seasoning. The eggs benedict here is probably one of the worst I have had in Boston, the hollandaise sauce is totally flavorless. If I want basic quality brunch food I can just go across the street to Zaftigs so I am not sure what role Regal Beagle serves in the Coolidge Corner brunch game.

We love this bar!!! Best food, friendliest staff and a great atmosphere. They make the most amazing drinks. We have ended up coming here basically every week because we are obsessed and have now had birthdays here, and recently, our engagement party! After having our first date here two years ago, it’s our second home and we can never stay away too long! Do yourselves a favor and go to the Regal Beagle!!!

I pop in here for a quick snack while I’m on the job(I don’t get a legit lunch break) and everyone on staff I have interacted with has been on point, friendly and quick. Bartenders are knowledgeable and enthusiastic when it comes to cocktails and are experts at classic cocktails and off menu drinks. Have not had anything bad on the menu, but I have had something OUTSTANDING, the grilled octopus!!! Holy $h*t is it good.

I have been here MANY times in the past but I just don’t have the enthusiasm as I used to about going here. Went for Brunch this past weekend and it was the first time I didn’t want to order anything on the menu! Yes you heard me… NOTEVENFRENCHFRIES! Their menu needs to be updated or something… they are singing the same old tune. I did end up getting the Caprese Salad and a side of fruit. Perhaps the saddest side of wilted, some-what-canned fruit pieces. Salad was good and the BF said the burger was pretty solid. And that’s all!

Unfortunately Regal Beagle wasn’t a hit for me. I went with my family for brunch yesterday. My mom had the omelet special(tomato, ham, spinach, mozz, and peppers). It was good, except the wax paper from the cheese was in it… I had poached eggs that weren’t very flavorful. They hadn’t been drained well enough so my plate was a little watery. The home fries didn’t have any seasoning. I did get a lot of bacon, though. My dad had a burger that he seemed to like. I do want to come by here for drinks sometime, though.

There are a few things that many brunch places have in common: eggs benedict, homey environments, & omelettes. Here’s what was different at reagle beagle: My friend ordered the mac and cheese, which sadly for the carnivores out there, doesn’t come with any meat. He ordered bacon on the side and added it on top, and it was absolutely delicious. It was cheesy, fragrant, and with the added bacon — everything you could ask for in a mac n’ cheese. Yes, mac n’ cheese is pretty heavy for brunch, but who DOESN’T love mac n’cheese?! I was very tempted to order the benedict with smoked salmon, but the waitress recommended me her favorite: the poached egg with bacon on top of grits. The flavors were great, I felt unique with my bowl of grits, and the proportions of grits: veggies:eggs were perfect. Great service, delicious food, and cute restaurant. HOWEVER, I took away one star because I found an eyelash in my grits(there’s only so many places you can put a hairnet on right?)

The Regal Beagle excels at cheese plates. Service is also good. The duck confit is alright(comes with waffles) but I liked the cheese app better(was almost like a salad built around the cheese: A-OK++ by me). Was hoping for the potato with gorgonzola again though! Now have another plate to long for: the grilled haloumi cheese with the tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette, yummy! However the combo of grilled haloumi cheese, duck, and waffles was too greasy. And it’s the humble grilled cheese + greens and potato+ cheese plates that I remember.

Dark and quaint, the Regal Beagle offers some tasty options but at a high price point given what you get. I ordered the mac n cheese and tuna crudo. The crudo was delicious but with little actual fish(three small bites in total), and the mac n cheese good, but left something to be desired. The service was great though– a good place to try out but maybe not frequent as a regular.

Gster and I have wanted to try the Beagle for a long time. We walk by it all the time, i gawk at the menu, and Karen raves about it. She goes there once a week. It’s a cozy cocktail lounge, with cute hightops to look at Coolidge corner, or a smug bar in the back. The décor doesn’t stand out, but the overall feel is just comfortable and classic. As a cocktail bar, their drink menu is very specific, and unique. I was very impressed with the creative drinks, as most I had never heard of before. We both got the Mac and Cheese, and while the Truffle oil was a nice surprise, there was way way too much that took away from the flavor of the cheese. it was not balanced and it tasted even more unhealthy than it normally does. I did love the ritz cracker coating. We also got the Peanut butter Molten cake, which was amazing. Overall, we felt that the food was not worth the price or the hype for a «night out» and we were disappointed based on our expectations. However, it is the ideal spot to grab a drink and dessert.

Total rating: 3.5 I went for brunch with a friend recently and the food was pretty tasty. I ordered the croque madame, a ham and cheese sandwich with egg, smothered in cheese sauce. Plentiful portion with a small order of potatoes on the side. My friend had a fried egg-over-potatoes dish, and the egg was a little too undercooked for his taste so he sent it back to be baked a bit more. The waitress was very pleasant about it and the taste was delicious. The ambiance leaves something to be desired. The restaurant is long and narrow, with red damask on the walls. It felt like I was brunching in what turns into a nightclub after dark. There was a bar tucked away in the back, with a TV and bartender churning out bloody mary’s at 11:30 a.m. Overall there are other places in the Coolidge Corner area I would hit up before visiting The Regal Beagle again, but I did enjoy a nice brunch there. From what I hear, executive Stacy Cogswell is set to appear on Top Chef Boston this season, too.

I came here with a few friends for sunday brunch and was seated immediately. It wasn’t very crowded at 11pm even for a party of 5. The service was fast and the food served was pretty standard american brunch items(omelette, french toast and eggs …) I got the smoked salmon omelette topped with sour cream, the eggs were made fresh and the sour cream and smoke salmon was a good combo as part of the omelette. The toast wasn’t very toasted but the home fries were very well seasoned.
