OK, so it is hip to like Trader Joe’s but honestly, the prices here are much better. There is a greater range of foods for the non-organically inclined. It is a bit on the dingy/sad side and the rest rooms could use an update. I love the watermelon and other fruits in the summer, which can be acquired for non-elitist prices. Just check the expiration dates of your products because I have caught some close to their expiration(as in a day or so). The staff is friendly and it is a busy place. Again, it is not for the beautiful people but fits my budget. I suggest that the company go look at the building and see what needs to be fixed. They have good sales there which is different than other stores in the area. I think that they are doing the best with what they have. They have good parking, good sales on canned goods, etc. and again, on the stuff that expires CHECK the dates! Cheapest prices in Coolidge Corner.

A DUMP. Should be condemned. This place still has stock from the 1970s. Its advertised pricing is misleading and it preys on an elderly and immigrant population of the neighborhood. It’s an eyesore inside and out. Tear it down already.

This location is painfully in need of an update. The building feels pretty run down and during the winter the roof was leaking into the produce section for several days. The produce is mediocre, but the meat selection is reasonable. With respect to general selection: it’s average. It is about what you’d expect to find at a typical suburban grocery store. Don’t plan on finding many specialty items here; often this place works best when supplemented with visits to other stores. Quick tip: if you are in the self checkout line and forget or don’t have a discount card, you can select«forgot my card» and still get the discounts.

This place seems to be managed and staffed by some odd folk. It’s like a ghost town when you’re looking for someone to help you, and when you do find someone they’re either clueless or rude. Odd.

The produce section left a lot to be desired, but everything was organized and the staff were nice.

This is maybe the most terrible full grocery store I have been to since I was a child. The vegetable offerings are the first sign that something is afoot. An enigmatic proportion of vegetables at this grocery store are sold in Stop N Shop branded plastic bags, which offer you no way to test them or to choose which ones you want or don’t want. The selection itself is also very sparse — I’ve very rarely if ever even been able to find Romaine Lettuce here. Not sure what that is about. And half of their offerings are only organic, which is problematic as well. No hanger steaks in the meat section, and a really paltry selection of seafood. No sourdough bread(what is this!!!). Meat and cheese prices are all high relative to a shopping experience that is completely subpar. As the kind of person who revels in the act of grocery shopping, who loves to pick out the right produce and dream and salivate over meat and vegetable options, this is not the grocery store for me. The grocery store atmosphere feels like it’s straight out of the 90s. It’s not well lit, the things are expensive, and there aren’t many of them that aren’t processed. I think the percentage of the store that is dedicated to vegetables is probably hovering around 5% — which is ridiculous. It’s also just a testament to poor urban design. Whoever decided to put the parking lot in front of the grocery store was certainly misguided. Come back to the future, Stop N Shop. Until then, I’ll go further afield — however far afield I must! — for my inexpensive, fresh produce.

Based on the reviews so far, it sounds like a lot of people seem to dislike this Stop & Shop chain. I personally enjoy coming to this one because I seem to find everything I need from this store. Depending on when you go, the store might not be properly stocked and vegetables don’t seem as fresh, but this is once in a blue moon type of occurrence in my opinion. I do wish they had a more viable seafood section though. I love seafood and it is impossible to find fresh fish from this store since they don’t have the capacity to skin and prepare fish in the store. All the seafood here come pre-packaged.

I live close by, and i can say have been very happy with the store for the past 3 years. They also have dramatically improved recently, lowering their rates across the store and offering promotions that are worthwhile regularly(free tropicana oj, eggs, icecream…) Their fruits and vegetables section is the best around: fresh, tasty, inexpensive. Much better than trader joe’s. I also want to point out their bakery. I have a high standard for my bread and theirs is definitely the most tasty around for a very good price. My biggest complaint would be the price and selection of cheeses, and an almost inexistent kosher meat section.

This is not my regular grocery store, but it’s close by and it’s got the essentials. The produce is hit or miss(generally miss) and the organization is kind of odd.

I wanted to give this more stars because we do most of our shopping here, but I think 3 stars is very acurate. It’s a nice store that is well organized. Unfortunately, the produce section is often not fully stocked and the produce can be hit or miss in terms of freshness. However, it does have a significant vegetarian section and the store is kept very clean. There is also lots of parking and has a well priced gas station attached.

When you go to the grocery store do you feel like you need to check the use by dates on all the items you buy or is that the responsibility of the store quality control? Date of Purchase: 6÷5÷2014 Use By Date on Legal Seafood Lobster Bisque” 5÷9÷2014

The worst shopping market I’ve ever been to. The meat section is always disorganized and dripping blood, they are always out of stocked items, the fruit is never fresh, and overall, I greatly dislike shopping here. I have no choice, as it’s the only place close to my house. If you are an out of towner, run. Run far away.

I only visited this place once, the place we were staying out was running low on TP. I did however bought a healthy cereal(if cereal is consider healthy) But it was on the high end of prices … a box that supposedly has 7 servings(55g) for almost $ 6(But I’m sure that’s the company and not the store’s fault) Overall I prefer Trader Joes if I were to visit Boston again.

I live conveniently down the street so this is our go-to for groceries. Sure, it’s not the Super Stop&Shop in Allston, but I’ve never had an issue finding what I need and it feels more manageable to traverse than others. It might not be the greatest, but it’s convenient, has parking(if needed), and I walk out with the groceries I need. I always use self-checkout, but beware since some noobs use it as well so exercise good judgment and a watchful eye to see which line you choose to stand in. I LOVE using the gun and scanning things as I shop. I save so much more time that way and it’s just fun to shoot things(figuratively) The neighboring gas station is convenient, especially with the loyalty card. Also note that they have no more plastic bags, so settle for the paper, or better yet, bring your own!

This is absolutely the worst grocery store I have ever shopped at. They can’t seem to keep basics item in stock, prices aren’t posted, employees are nowhere to be found, long line at customer service(because at least there you can find an employee to ask a question), employees don’t respond to pages to help find items, and the self-checkouts(which you pretty much have to use because often there is only one cashiered lane open with a long line) have bad scanners and half the time require an employee to come input something anyway. Overall terrible grocery store.

I hate almost everything about this store, except that it’s near my apartment and is open until 11. The customer service is terrible. The cashiers are either simply rude or are rude by carrying on conversations with the baggers, sometimes awkward conversations to listen to. The prices are decent and I can usually find what I need. They sold me expired muffins the other day. When I looked today they still had expired muffins on the shelf. And they had other muffins that were moldy. I keep meaning to talk to the manager but I never see anyone who looks professional enough to be the manager.

This place is like a Ralph’s/Kroger/Vons/Albertsons… You get a value card and the deals. I int have one but she beeped it for me. I just got Greek yogurt and they had a large selection. I gave a negative one str bc of the service — they weren’t really friendly. I tried to get a card and she kinda ignored me. Another negative are some of the prices. I’m really great at finding better prices and saving, thir Greek yogurt was kinda overpriced on some brands that are normally cheaper. –_– Parking: tons but I walked Overall: good or more choices than TJ

Like many Stop and Shops, the lighting makes food look unappetizing and things are generally disheveled. So why do I shop here? 1. Parking! Free parking! 2. Alternative to Trader Joe’s. 3. Good prices 4. Nice selection(including Udon noodles.) 5. Parking! I was at the store yesterday, and a female employee berated another(younger) employee. She called him stupid for missing a coupon, asked him if he had a brain(etc. etc.). When I told the manager(yes, I’m that girl), he seemed genuinely upset. I appreciated that the manager took the time to talk with me about it and address it with his employees. SO, while this isn’t the crème de la crème of grocery stores, I’ll keep going back.

Surprisingly this Stop&Shop had fish heads for sale. My boyfriend has been looking for them so he can make fish head curry, a Singaporean dish he picked up when he lived overseas. While it is not a huge grocery store, we were able to find everything we needed, including coconut milk and ginger. We also agreed the baguette we purchased was delicious! It was a perfect crunchy outside with a soft doughy inside.
