Our loved one stayed for one week to rehab. We found most staff, with the exception of the activities director and the physical therapists, show little respect for seniors and lack basic empathy in caring for people with dementia. The formal intake meeting(you know, the one where they collect vital information on your loved one so they will know how best to care for them) occurred on the fifth day of my loved one’s stay. My loved one, who was there for rehab received no assistance changing into pajamas by staff 3 of 6 nights there. It became clear to us she received no bathing assistance. The bed had an alarm to alert staff if our loved one got out of bed. The alarm went off and I decided to wait to see how long it would take for someone to check. Well… after 49 minutes I wandered out to inquire how to turn the darn thing off myself. A sampling of the menu — cold chicken tenders for lunch and a choice of meatball subs or a hot dog(both cold) for dinner. Cold broccoli quiche served with more broccoli and a cup of frozen cranberry juice. Residents, or in our case patient’s health issues are discussed in the hallway. One wonders if they are familiar with the fines associated with HIPAA violations. And there is a pretty dreadful«Namaste» room essentially used to warehouse low functioning dementia residents for hours at a time with no engagement. Not a good scene. You will also find other reviews of Epoch of Chestnut Hill under Boylston Place in Chestnut Hill. They are owned by the same company but have different site management. The Boylston Place management’s response to those Epoch reviewers is to suggest that the reviewer must be writing about some other facility. She doesn’t mention that they are owned by the same company and are located on the same site.
