Bornstein’s Express Cleaners

This is the first Unilocal review that I’m leaving, because this is the first time that I have ever cried after having something dry cleaned. I brought my $ 400.00 cashmere coat to be cleaned by them. The coat had leather buckles — and I asked to be sure they could appropriately clean the coat given the mixed materials. Let’s just say, after assuring me they could, that they did not. Not only did the coat come back looking miserable (with pills of fabric all over it), they destroyed all of the buckles to the point that I cannot wear this coat in public. I asked them if they would replace the buckles, and they said that they remembered that I brought in the coat looking like that. I assure you, it did not. Not even close. Do not bring anything to them.
They didn’t compensate me in any way, nor did they even apologize. My coat is ruined, and I cannot replace it. Horrible, horrible business.

Sadly I had the same experience as others have indicated in past reviews. I brought a leather/​canvas combo jacket and asked NUMEROUS times if they were indeed able to clean the jacket given it was two materials that required different cleaning methods and they assured me again and again they were capable. I went to pick it up for a cleaning fee of $ 50 and it was not cleaned and the musty smell from having it packed away for a couple years was still there. I was clear I wouldn’t pay for it given they didn’t do what they wanted to be paid for. The woman working got the incompetent manager on the phone who like other reviewers said, tried to turn it around on me. I whole heartily agree with others that this place has no clue what they are doing and are a waste of money!

Ruined the gift I bought for my girlfriend in dry cleaning. The owner refuses to pay me the reimbursement for the cloth. PS: the owner is very rude.

BE CAREFUL AND DON’T BRING ANYTHING OF VALUE HERE!!! Owner is absolutely rude on top of everything! this place doesn’t even deserve a star. they totally destroyed my $ 800 down jacket after they promised they could clean that type of clean. When I spoke with the manager, she blamed it on me and said I brought in a dirty coat. The coat clearly had chemicals spilled on it from the drycleaner and they also severly snagged the left cuff. The owner continuously blamed me for what they did wrong. I will NEVER go here ever agai

Awful, awful, awful! After putting up with their subpar service for the last 2.5 years, I’ve reached my limit and am moving my dry cleaning business across the street. I had two pairs of pants tailored and, after the first wear, the hem came out in each. She wanted to charge me to fix the pants and gave me an attitude when I said I wouldn’t pay. WARNING — DO NOT GO HERE! There are so many options within a 2 minute walk… you’ll be better off. Trust me!

The fine people of Express Cleaners have been faithfully purging my button-​down shirts of debauchery for about 3 years now, and doing so with a kind of quiet excellence. I don’t even bother with their dry cleaning (if they have it), because their Wash and Press service has been excellent and cheap at about $ 1.50 per shirt.
Also, they do a reasonable patch and repair job. I’ve repeatedly worn my favorite jeans into the ground, and Express Cleaners has been there for me every time with a very cool Frankenstein-​stitch resurrection.
There’s never a line, the place is clean, turn-​around is quick, and the woman at the front is always friendly. For the Fenway /​Kenmore crowd, this cleaner definitely beats out the other local ones on Beacon St, Commonwealth Ave, and Park Drive.
