Cool, chill spot. The Happy Hour Margaritas were strong and delicious! My friend and I enjoyed ourselves, we just wished the portions were slightly bigger!

Very disorganized… Sat for 45 minutes without receiving our appetizers on a Saturday at 4pm. Ridiculous… Told manager and left. To his credit, he didn’t make us pay for the drinks we had. The décor was great and the menu looked interesting, too bad we didn’t get to taste the food.

This was my second time going to Tin Marin and I have to say, the service was REALLY bad last night. It was four of us for dinner, and one of my friends never got his food when everyone else at the table got all of their tapas and entrees. He gave the waiter a few minutes to bring out his two dishes, but when they didn’t arrive, he pulled him aside and asked where his food was. The waiter was like«oh, one of the dishes you ordered, they ran out of it…» Okay…so when was he going to tell us that? So, he asked about his second dish he had placed, and the waiter was like«yes yes yes it is coming it is coming». It wasn’t coming. The three of us who had gotten out food had finished our food and our plates were cleared away by the time one of his plates arrived. He told the waiter to cancel the second order because it wasn’t even worth it at that point to eat by himself. The waiter just kept saying«what could I do, it’s not my fault, it’s gone», and didn’t take any responsibility for not even having the decency to tell my friend, who is sitting there waiting for his food, that his food wasn’t even coming because they ran out. He gave us a free round of drinks after we asked to speak to the manager(the manager never came to speak with us, btw), but it was still a pretty terrible experiences. And, the host was sitting at the bar next to us, swinging his BARE feet back and forth. NO shoes, NO socks, just bare feet. The food is good, but they’ve gotta step up their service, big time.

I really enjoy Tin Marin. The interior is very rustic and charming and the outside seating is a nice option on a warm day. food portion should be larger, waiters need to be a little more organized. good place.

The various dishes had some interesting features but I left feeling nauseaus after eating a highly acidic shrimp tapas on this gummy plaintain patty. The dates stuffed with blue cheese were tiny and the flatbread was soggy. When I was asked if everything was ok I said I did not care for a few of the dishes and the guy just said nothing and walked away. When I ordered a glass of riesling after waiting about 15 minutes I was told they were out. Then they suggested a glass of rose! So After I declined I was asked if I wanted another club soda & got that. I was charged for both sodas. Not a big deal but just as the shrimp dish, left a bad taste in my mouth. Next time I am in the mood for Spanish tapas I will catch the train to Manhattan.

I live around the corner and I’ve come here several times to have dinner, and brunch. I’ve been able to take notice of the difference during summers, and not so warm seasons. I’ve enjoyed sitting outside in the sun enjoying brunch with friends, enjoying awesome real mojitos. This place has great Hispanic inspired dishes and refreshing freshly made drinks. The drinks may be mixologist recipe however I wouldn’t be able to distinguish if they weren’t, since they are really great. I’ve been here several times to know if they vary in quality but time again I’m very satisfied. Now if I could deduct half a star for the Service I would. The service is not the greatest, granted they can get very busy, I’m talking about a full house! However, you have to enjoy ur drink and company while you wait for your food or other service. For dinner this place has such a great Ambiance. I’ve been here while they had a live jazz band who was great! I was blown away at how great I felt eating, and enjoying the entertainment. Another thing is it’s probably the only Gem in Riverdale. So it makes me appreciate everything a bit more.

This has been by far the worst dining experience I’ve had in recent memory. It’s Friday night and there’s only one person on wait staff and one busser. We had to walk over to the GM to refill our water. There were no touch backs after any course. And the worst part was that it was Friday night(date night!) and they had karaōke with a «DJ» playing the faves off his iTunes account on a $ 300 «sound system» he couldn’t tune properly if his life depended on it. I’ve worked on multi-million dollar productions, heard what a real seven figure sound system should sound like, AM an audiophile ane am once again reminded of why I don’t go out in the Bronx! The best part was the 500 ml wine pour that I downed like Gatorade after a dash and getting our main course to go. Never again!

So my boyfriend, brother and I went to Tin Marin late at night after looking for a new place to eat in the Bronx. It is a Spanish tapas restaurant that features a good amount of seafood selections and a few meat, poultry and seafood entrees. Those who are vegetarians may have a hard time with the lack of variety for them – one dish is called the Vegetarian platter, which is vegetables cooked in olive oil. However, pescatarians will enjoy the selection of crab, fish, shrimp and octopus, and meat-lovers will like the choices they have as well. When we arrived, there was a nice ambiance to the location – it felt like it was meant for the adult, not really for children since I didn’t see any. We received bread with a oil based sauce that tasted like chimichurri. The first time we ordered we chose to get the Suquet(seafood soup), Pulpo a la Gallega and Maduro con Jaiva(sweet plaintains with crab). Unfortunately, they were out of crab, but they were able to accommodate with shrimp. All 3 tapas were tasty and flavorful, especially the Suquet. The second time, we ordered the Ceviche, Dátiles(dates wrapped in bacon), and the Monfonguito de Camarones(mashed plantains with shrimp). All three were very delicious – I especially enjoyed eating the dátiles as it was very savory and sweet. It had blue cheese, which was not overpowering, and the dates were sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. For the drinks, I ordered the Piña-Coco mojito(delicious, but sweet), and my brother ordered the margarita on the rocks, which was strong and good. Once we were ready to leave, a band was finishing setting up. After paying the bill, we decided to stay for 2 songs since the band was good – they covered Spanish rock music. I believe the band’s name is Frankie(Franky) Roads(Rhodes/Rhoades). Overall, I had a good time eating good tapas and I was able to have a conversation without it being too loud – that is until the band started playing.

Enjoyed the order despite it being the wrong order. With a large party, I didn’t notice anyone displeased with their plate. One could always ask for more elbow room but it is almost masked as cozy. I did not feel a struggle to hear across the table or be heard. Speaking of hearing, the music was great; playlist and live. Follow the pink guitar.

It’s so nice to finally have a local tapas bar in our, rather cut off, Riverdale neighborhood. We walk there and more importantly are able to walk back. Tin Marin is a nice fresh wind to Riverdale’s historic delivery restaurants. We can get most anything delivered but Tin Marin is a place we actually want to go to. We usually have a mixed tapas platter with shrimp chicken and beef There are fried plantain and chorizos. We also get bacon wrapped dates and tiny stuffed potatoes. There are also salads and just a few main courses to pick from as well as a few fish specialties The wine list is very inexpensive but also not at all remarkable. Stick to mixed drinks or red/white sangria. If you check in while you are there, there is a Unilocal deal.($ 5.00 off white sangria) I have used it on a few occasions with no problem. This place is not expensive. We were there a few nights ago and our bill for three was $ 74.00 including two drinks, my reduced price sangria and a huge platter of tapas.

We were in the area, looking for a place for lunch but I wasn’t in the mood for a heavy burger so, of course, I Unilocaled it and found we were just down the road from Tin Marin and the reviews looked promising. We were seated without waiting but it was pretty cold in the dining area. I had my jacket in the entire time. The décor is wood on wood on wood which I thought was odd but I’m sure at night it’s real sexy and bohemian. When we sat, hubby spotted the familiar yellow container of Bustelo so, we ordered two piping hot cups of the brew, along with two shots of Kahlua; might as well make the most of it, no? Along with our beverages, we were gifted some warm, light bread with very tasty, seasoned olive oil. I made sure to request more bread for my soon-to-be-had tapas plate. We each ordered our own tapas plate and one extra to share. Hubby went with the Pastelitos, four empanadas of chicken, beef, veggies and cheese. I went with the Pulpo a la Gallega and it was great; tender sautéed octopus and potatoes in seasoned garlicky oil. My son opted for the Maduro y Jaiva, a dish of mashed sweet plantains topped with crabmeat. It was so unexpectedly good! The sweet plantain paired very well with the fresh, sweet crab meat. We all shared one of their flatbreads, the Coca Tin Marin, topped with caramelized onion, roasted red peppers, chicken and mozz. After our coffee was topped off, we warmed up and the rest of the meal was great. We’ll definitely be back, but maybe for date night with just hubbs and me

Great place in Riverdale rivaling the dining experience in uptown Manhattan. The restaurant as mentioned in another review is warm, lively, and décor rustic. I was very pleasantly surprised with the food. Had the appetizer sampler and paella, delicious. The only minus was the server. I asked for a bottle of Rosè, which they had run out of, then a Pinot noir, again ran out of. I asked for a dry white wine which I thought was 28 bucks, he had us taste what I thought was this bottle, but ended up being an upsale. When I asked after getting my bill, he very nonchalantly said«oh that wine is a flat rate»…whatever that means. We paid, and left a decent tip, but the lack of transparency on the latter was not ok in my book. And I am 99% sure he was high on coke… I am a professional in the addictions field. Other than that food was great, don’t let the bad review on server deter you. Support this business.

$ 5MOJITOMONDAYS! They are NOT stingy with their alcohol too. Just make sure that you sit in different sections every time you come here so they don’t remember your face and how sloppy you were the last time you came here. I came twice on a monday and although it was $ 5 drinks, I think our bill was $ 150, not including the coconut water and advil. Really cute décor, bathrooms are clean. Service is a tad bit slow, but in that case just wave the manager down because he’s always there to make sure you need what you want. And the datiles with the bleu cheese and bacon is so YUM! I get like 2 orders of this every time I go here! Great recommendation from the bartender.

This is such a lovely Spanish restaurant. This was a great first experience for trying out some tapas after a stressful day. We went here for happy hour and the prices were so cheap. Our group got couple tapas and drinks and it was a great time. I of course had to try out their Sangria and it was amazing! The food was also very good! The atmosphere itself is pretty chilled and a very cool ambient. It’s a very good date spot and you can even sit outside if you want to. I will definitely come back here to check out the dinner part!

I really enjoy Tin Marin. The interior is very rustic and charming and the outside seating is a nice option on a warm night. It gets very crowded, but I’ve never had a problem getting a table for two on a busy night(sheer luck, I guess). The seafood paella here is one of the best I’ve ever had. Plentiful seafood(clams, lobster, mussels, octopus, shrimp, and white fish) and the saffron rice is always cooked to perfection. You can get it for up to 3 people to share, and it takes around 30 minutes to prepare. The tapas are also great, especially the gambas al ajillo and the chorizo(now made with dates!). I’ve only dined there for brunch once, but the eggs Benedict I had was very tasty. I’ve never had anything that I didn’t like here and the servers are always very friendly, so I will keep coming back!

I’m not a picky eater– or drinker. That being said, I could honestly say that there was nothing about my visit, the food, or drink that I didn’t like. In fact, there were so many good choices, I had trouble making up my mind! I had read reviews here and only discovered this place on Unilocal a month or so ago. I wonder why it took this long hear about it. I’d passed through recently and seen people sitting outside in the sidewalk seating area with the daily specials out front. Arriving in mid evening, I’d been putting off coming here for a day when I could get a little more time in exploring the menu. I did tonight. I recently landed a job in the Bronx, but we often get caught up in chores and tasks. I decided that I’d put a few of mine aside to treat myself. I knew from the photos and reviews that they served sangria, which I’m huge fan of. Just my night: $ 5/glass. Great. Strong and sweet. Red, white, and you can add fruit Flavors for $ 1 more. Note: Thursday appears to be sangria night specials. I’m watching my weight, so I was careful about my selections. I decided first on the suquet, which was listed as some kind of Catalonian(think Barcelona) seafood stew/soup. While waiting for my meal, I was given some tapas-size bread slices with a thick olive oil/garlic sauce, which I’d throw on my cornflakes if I could. The suquet was small for $ 11, but this is a tapas bar. The flavor was clean and savory in tomato-based sauce. I could have eaten gallons of this. Next I ordered the mussels, which came in a thick wine sauce with red peppers and rosemary. It had almost a fruity/sweet note to it. You could easily dip bread into this(which I was offered, but declined to save calories!) At this time I ordered a margarita on the rocks with salt. This was also a solid selection, being equality sweet and strong. The crowd was a good mixture of middle aged Whites and 20−40s Latinos. It looks like it would be a fun, mature crowd on the weekends. The young lady at the bar, a blond, was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the music, which was a mix of salsa and Latin American Rock(Soda Stereo in the Bronx– just wow!) Between the food, drink, music, décor and crowd, there is a certain ambience that reminds me of Colombian lounges/bars in Queens that I frequented when I was younger. This definitely is an unexpected gem. I shall return…
