I always come by here for breakfast whenever I’m in the BX. Great selection of Jamaican dishes.

I stop by a few times per month for breakfast. The food is great, and the atmosphere is pleasant. Sometimes the line gets pretty long, but it is worth the wait. I do wish they had kidneys, liver, and other options. I’m sure it would work out very well. Also one more thing to note, is that their porridge tastes very nice.

Dont go in there with vouchers as you will end up leaving with rotten old food that will make you sick, they will also try to get over. Ive been eating at the dumpling shop for years; since they was at the other spot. Always got hot fresh fish. Yesterday i went there with the vouchers and they had an attitude(not suprised) the cashier was very helpful but the guy that intitally helped me(young tiny feminine guy who always wears a hat) and made my orders was not happy i came with the deal and tried to deter me from using both my certificates. He also told me i was supposed to spend more than what was stated on the voucher to spend. The cashiers corrected him(he knew though) As he made my order he kept looking back at me i thought it was strange. I ordered fish, dumplings and oxtails. Others in the back also turned to look at me, he more than likely was venting that I was using the vouchers. Once i got home i opened my bag and had sardine sized cold dried up old whiting. I tasted them and they were fishy tasting so i left alone and sons ate. The oxtails were dry and cold no gravy which is also not a suprise. Today(next morning) me and my two sons are violently sick taking turns running to the bathroom! They gave us old food! Heres the thing if they signed up for the vouchers then why have an attitude and be spiteful giving old food if the patron comes in to utilize the voucher THEYSIGNEDUPFOR!!! I have a few other choice words for dude but I will stay professional. one reason i gave ine star is because its the only way i can post!

So for a CAT like myself… this place isn’t great… but it’s not bad… It’s always crowded and if you are trying to order and you don’t know exactly what you want the people will KILL you… The food… well I have had MUCH better. But the fried whiting is great. The onions on top is TODIEFOR!!! But that’s it… I meowed(NOTIN A GOODWAY) when I got the DRY, HARD, DUMPLING… Thought my teeth would break trying to chew it and my teeth are long and sharp. If you really are hungry and want some ok fish stop by… but don’t go out of your way for this one!!!

I usually don’t write Unilocal reviews but I downloaded the Unilocal app a few minutes ago so that I could write a review on The Dumplin Shop. The ackee and salt fish at this restaurant is TODIEFOR. It is so delicious and it reminds me of the ackee and salt fish I eat when I’m in Jamaica. The dumplings are delicious too. Ackee and salt fish + fried dumplings = heaven. I have only tried the ackee and salt fish and fried dumplings at this restaurant but I can’t wait to try something else on the menu!

The fried dumplins and whitening fish is a must and very popular, along with the escovish onions. Excellent. The fish cakes is hit or miss, as it can be extremely spicy at times or hard as hell. The stewed saltfish was oily, bland, and way too salty, as either it was not boiled out enough, or rinsed out enough. Saltfish comes with 4 dumplins(which is not bad). Not worth the $ 9 for the saltfish. Can get saltfish and bake(dumplin, johnny cake, however you prefer to call it) elsewhere for half the price that taste 10x better. But I will go back for the dumplin and whitening.

Fish is so good crispy and addicting. I ordered the whiting they are $ 1.75 each and the dumplins are 50 cents each… They offer onions and peppers on the side if you like spicy do yourself a favor and get them! I also tried the oxtail lunch special– oxtail is tender they make with brown gravy, rice and peas was very good had a lot of coconut flavor.

This place is minutes from my house pass by it on the way to work. I decided to stop here after a long work week and was in the mood for some fried dumpling, or as my father calls it(«Johnny cakes») I ordered six fried dumplings which cost around .50 cents each they were warm, fluffy, and delicious. I was also eyeing their yummy cod fish and whitings. The whiting was crispy and well seasoned the cod fish not so much. It was really salty they should have soaked in water a little bit more, or changed the water a couple of times. I couldn’t finish it felt like I was eating sand. I would go back for more dumplings, but will refrain from the cod fish.

Delicious. I got ackee and salt fish with fried dumplin and bammi. It was very fresh and authentic. I will certainly visit again when I am in the mood. You couldn’t tell me I wasn’t in Jamaican while i was eating it. They also have cola champagne and all the other Jamaican beverages you can’t get everywhere. Try it out!

As good as it gets as far as local and home-style. Fairly easy to get to, highly recommend using that GPS and there’s parking around the corner. Pricing is reasonable but more importantly-worth it! This is not really a ‘dine in’ kind of place so take it to go and make your stomach the happiest Mother f&% for the night! If you don’t try at least one of their dumplings there is something wrong with you and you should be kicked off Unilocal
