Yeah, so… This place is the business. I haven’t been to a restaurant/bar this good for at least a year or so. Eva is amazing. She is friendly, warm, & quite funny. And clearly one of the owners by the way. We had quite delectable food. Eva has this salad that has chicken, shredded cheese, mandarin oranges, pineapple, and a secret dressing that is amazing. Omg, it was so good. Salad accompanied by guava and cheese pastelitos that were amazing. Some rice & peas that were very delicious. Fried chicken bites(I think that’s what they were…) were extremely delicious. Everything was the right texture and appropriate temperature. And the cocktail she made me(a bartender’s choice)? *10,000 sighs* Ridiculously. On. Point. It made no sense how excellent it was. This is my new spot. It’s a trek for me, but I’m making it a priority. Yes, even with winter coming. That’s saying a lot. That’s how good this joint is.

I dropped in for a late breakfast. Wanted some tres golpes which they were more than willing to make for me. The service was fast and friendly and the food was good. I definitely recommend this place to eat.

Fall-off-the-bone tender chicken stew and classic rice & beans. This place hit the spot, and the service is warm and welcoming. Beer options are aplenty, too.

The atmosphere is homey and open, service both in and delivery is prompt courteous and friendly. The menu is eclectic and supplies delicious and generous offerings of the usual Spanish culinary suspects. Roast Chicken, Barbecue Ribs, Yellow Rice, Rice and Peas, etc. I love the platinos and black beans, two sides that could by themselves be a satisfying meal. I love this place enjoyed it 5 times and never an issue always a pleasure.

Chicken jibarito is on point. I wanted to to try the pernil, but I settled for the chicken. The chicken flavor was perfect. A slice of tomato and a special mango sauce. Uuffff. Must try… Feels like grandma’s sunday cooking.

I work for a OP catering company that has its kitchen in the neighborhood so we generally get lunch daily. Today the kitchen was dark so a couple of us decided to wander through the neighborhood. We came across Calientito and sat down for lunch. We could not have made a better choice. The Pernil I had was fantastic. The pork was moist & tender and not greasy. Presentation was beautiful. The Cacique salad was delicious. The chicken was moist and the coating was crispy. The staff was great. Friendly. Attentive without being obtrusive. And the owner is a delight. She is very involved with the community and wants all the businesses in the area to grow. My only regret is that this post makes Calientito blow up and I have to stand in a loooooooong line to get in

This is a great Caribbean restaurant. The food is always fantastic and the people are polite and professional always. I frequent this place pretty often because of those things. Definitely a restaurant anyone in NY should check out. They definitely deserve the recognition. Holding in down for Bronx sites!!!

Very good establishment. the owners she is very nice professional and creative. I just moved to this part of the Bronx Por Morris this is a very nice neighborhood Tranquail, safe and clean. And as for the establishment the food is very fresh delicious and reasonably priced as compared to other nearby establishments full price gouge their clients. The music can be a little loud at times when I’ve gone but besides that everything else is nice I love the ambience and the service is very prompt.

Had lunch here for the 1st time yesterday. Would highly recommend this place. Had the pulled pork with black rice & peas. The pork was so soft, it melted in your mouth. You could taste every spice. I will definitely have it again and you should try it too. They sell breakfast, lunch & dinner. Will deliver to the surrounding area. Catering requests are also available. Few options on the menu… for now. But they are planning on expanding and I’m planning on trying every single dish they offer. To the owner, thank you for taking the time to sit and talk to us during our lunch. We are already spreading the word to our students and colleagues in the office and surrounding businesses. See you once!

Holy… sh**! That was, for now, the best mongu I have ever had! Okay, so I was working in the area and needed some breakfast. I didn’t want the regular bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll deal so I tried to find some awesome Spanish breakfast spot. I stumbled on this place by accident while looking for another establishment and I have no regrets. Walked in and I was immediately greeted by a very friendly woman behind the bar. She was looking for the breakfast menu for me but initially couldn’t find it. She told me that the menu on the wall is what they have in their breakfast menu so, bummed, I ordered some pancakes and eggs. After I ordered she finally found the menu, I was skimming through it when she said they also make mongu. I was even more bummed because I would have loved to have some, it’s been many years since I had it. She told me, no worries and said she can cancel the pancakes and get that for me instead. Elated, I said yes! I was very taken aback from her pleasant, I’ll do what I can, attitude. Actions like that speaks a lot of an establishment. The place is very nice and laid back, doesn’t feel like I’m in the Bronx. Food took a while to get but that’s understandable. The mongu though. So good, so very good. So flavorful and cooked just right, nice and creamy(I’ve had some lumpy ones in the past). I was looking at their dinner/lunch menu and was bummed that I did not see monfongo on the menu but she told me they will do it as a special order. WIN! I’ll be back.

My friend lives in the neighborhood and was really excited to discover a restaurant that opened early for breakfast. Being open early is one thing but serving good food in a welcoming environment is the key and Calientito has it all. We started with coffee and I knew immediately it was Café Bustelo as the taste is unmistakable. A very nice size mug for $ 2 and $ 2 for each cup after. I ordered the Carribean Brunch, which is a pancake, topped with sliced sweet plaintains, pernil(which is shredded pork shoulder, what I call carnitas) with melted cheese and a light syrup drizzled over the plate. Very satisfying, delicious, moist, flavorful and the perfect sized portion. My friend ordered the Mangù & «Tres Golpes» — which is salami, eggs and cheese — which was a really nice portion and he said was delicious. We each had a mimosa made with Tej Honey Wine from Ethiopia and it was pretty, pretty tasty. Eva, the owner, is warm, friendly and makes you feel at home. On a rainy day, there’s no better place to be other than your own place, if you cooked as good as the food here. I highly recommend a visit.
