I decided to go check this place out on Superbowl Sunday and ended up having alot of fun! Loved my Gambler drink made by Kolo… he was so sweet! You have to try the Sweet Chili wings… yumm! The fries were seasoned nicely as well. Lots of TV to see the game with cute picnic tables making the place like you are hanging out with your family. Once the game ended, music was playing from this cool modern jukebox! Everyone was very nice and I will go again with my friends!

This restaurant is great, the ambiance, music and staff all work cohesively together to provide a comfortable and fun atmosphere. You can play card games with your guests as you wait for your food, and sit on some pretty cool picnic table. If you want a bar with an outdoor and different atmosphere… This is the place to go! Also the food was really really good, i ordered the rotisserie chicken.: you need to try it!

If I had to rate my server, Sam, I would rate a 5 because he was super friendly and extremely welcoming. If I had to rate the décor and store front, another 5. My rating is based on the food. Which I gave a 2 because he Sprite wasn’t flat and my appetizer was decent(10 piece wings). I’m a BBQ junkie so my expectations are usually high, especially when the restaurant looks as nice as this one does. I purchased a groupon, and would have never known this place existed if it weren’t for it. I woulda been happy not knowing. Anyway, to summarize before I get worked up here, the ribs were so scorching hot, you knew they weren’t slow cooked on any pit. Pre-cooked, frozen and reheated because you can taste the plastic that it was likely wrapped and stored in. I ordered the garlic mash and Coleslaw as my sides. Nothing fresh about these. Both tasted like they came out of a can or bag. We also got the Mac n cheese. I was reminded of my school lunch in the late 80’s at my elementary school while eating these. Not a good memory. If you’re the type of person who’s only ever eaten at BBQ’s because you think that’s how BBQ food should taste, you might like this place. Otherwise, just go for a craft beer, Sprite, and wings. And to see how cool and down to earth Sam is. Otherwise, if you go to expect authentic BBQ food, assuming you’re a BBQ food head like me, you’re in for a disappointment. If you’re reading this after purchasing that groupon, you have time to return it and go for some sushi as a date night. If you’re taking someone on a first date, don’t except to get past 1st base or even see her for a 2nd outing. Real BBQ food enthusiasts take pride in their BBQ food. It’s clear to me that the owners of this establishment couldn’t care less.

Good: 1. décor was cool with the picnic table setup and the steel bucket on each table holding utensils, napkins, straws, etc… 2. my beer Bad: The food was extremely bland! Rack was dry and was not falling off the bone. Brisket sandwich — well it was drier than an over-cooked turkey. Sides — mac and cheese is comparable to a kraft box with watery cheese with noodle floating. Same for the creamed spinach. Here comes the best part! I used a groupon deal which I know would only cover food. I ordered 2 beers @ $ 6 each so I was expecting to get a bill for $ 12 plus any taxes on the food. My receipt showed up for $ 23 which included an «automatic» $ 10 gratuity fee. Really??? It was only 2 patrons being served and I asked the server what was a $ 10 for and he couldn’t even explain it besides saying«its something with the computer system that’s doing it automatically…» I’m so disappointed in this place. I really thought it was going to be a good authentic bbq spot. Never again will I return nor will I recommend this place to anyone.

I believe this place have really good potential. The picnic tables are a nice touch. The Staff are friendly and attentive. They also have a Large beer selection. Now for the food… I decided on the ribs. Not bad but also not great… How ever the side dishes are really good. I tried the Mac and cheese, mash potato, sweet potato frys and the corn bread two thumbs up on side dishes… I will return for the brisket to finsh my review.

I decided to ignore the other reviews and went anyway. Had the brisket sandwich and it was pretty good. I got it to-go and it came with sweet potato fries and cole slaw, both also good. The man and woman working there were both very friendly. Next time I’ll try one of there bigger meat plates and I’ll update the review.

I can’t remember a time where a restaurant had me so thoroughly fooled. From the outside, this looks like any awesome greasy spoon bbq joint complete with picknic tables and a decent bar. But don’t be fooled, there is no smoker, pit, or real bbq anywhere in sight. The waitress took our orders, but took over 30 mins to bring our drinks. She never brought water for the table, and forgot to fire our appetizer. The food, sadly, was terrible. The brisket sliders had a single, half inch slice of BOILED brisket. No smoke. No grill marks. The burgers were all definitely frozen patties and despite the different ordering temps(medium and well done) all came out grey and greasy. Also, all were accompanied by an assortment of chips that made no sense(tortilla chips, potato chips, and sweet potato chips). As if things couldn’t get worse, when the bill arrived we decided to split the 4 meals between 2 cards. We wrote down the card numbers and amounts to charge and included 2 credit cards. 30 seconds later I get a text alert from my bank showing a $ 65 charge from«Rainne Lounge». This was the full bill amount and I have no idea who or what«Rainne Lounge» is but I confronted the waitress when she returned about it. She apologized and cancelled the charge and then split the bill. In summation, STAYAWAY.

I dont really write reviews but this place deserves one. The beer selection is fantastic and they have a ton of stuff on tap –20ish craft beers or so. Got there early so it wasn’t packed and got a table near the front. Had the shotgun burger(which comes with a shot of jack) and people i was with had the bbq smoked brisket — which was perfectly cooked, and the bbq jalepeno burger. They forgot to put the bbq sauce on the burger but there was 3 dipping sauces on the table which more than sufficed. Service was excellent and the waiter was friendly. My only gripe with the place is the location. Being off Broadway, not on Broadway, I feel the place gets less foot traffic than it deserves. Hopefully the place picks up more business soon.

Great Spot!!! Great food!!! My favorite is the lobster bisque not really BBQ but something I enjoy before throwing down with there very tender ribs, Mac & Cheese and the beans. Also very good assortment of bourbon & beer. Looking forward to my next visit.

I’d call this an average BBQ joint. The picnic tables, playing cards and relaxed atmosphere brings something new to the Bronx, but the food is average. The service is very good. They were out of creamed spinach. However, there are 2 supermarkets across the street, I believe they could have just gone to the store & bought a few bags of spinach and make some fresh. They only had 3 choices for dessert, cheesecake, carrot cake and Oreo pie. Now, if I were 4 blocks from S & S cheesecake, that’s what I would serve. If they last longer than a year, maybe they’ll make the change. Otherwise, I call this a «been there, done that, don’t have to do it again» type of place.

I had the half rack of ribs with Mac and cheese and cornbread. It was all amazing! For a Friday night it was pretty empty but I did notice the bar was lively. I will definitely come back!

So disappointed in this food… We got take out, so I get it probably won’t be the same as eating in, but still… so bad… The corn bread and cole slaw were good. The garlic mashed potatoes were not bad– just a little watery for my taste. The mac and cheese was like macaroni with cream and breadcrumbs, I had to add my own cheese for it to be edible. The worst part– the brisket. I am no expert, but I have never seen brisket sliced so thin, so fatty and with such little BBQ sauce. I got the brisket sliders. Without exaggeration– each slider had ONE2.5in. by 1in. slice of fatty brisket(only a few millimeters thick). I literally couldn’t even taste the meat in the sandwich. Fiancé got the brisket meal– half of it was fat. Also super thin and very little BBQ sauce, we have never seen brisket made this way… We ate it– because it cost $ 40, but we will not be coming here again unfortunately.

The words BBQ and PIT need to be removed from the name of this restaurant. I don’t believe either exist within 10 miles of this location. There is no smoke in the meat. No rub on the meat. The sides are pathetic. There is no LOVE in the preparation of the food. The pulled pork sandwich is served with lettuce and tomato. I need to repeat that… Pulled pork with LETTUCEANDTOMATO! The $ 24 Rib Rack is really ¾ of a rack. Good atmosphere and selection of beer. That is all. An OPENLETTER to the owner… Great Concept. Great Advertising. I wish you the best… You need to learn how to make BBQ. Pick a style. TXKCTNNCSL and go with it… Or feature the best of each style… You need a real Pit Your guest should greeted with the sweat smell of smoke! Consider selling BBQ by the pound. People tend to purchase more and it makes take out easy. Good BBQ needs to be served fresh and with some life. Ribs and Pulled Pork Juicy. A good snap to the bark. Burnt ends Please put effort into your kitchen. The concept works. The kitchen is severely lacking.

I’m a huge fan of gastropubs because it let’s me eat delicious food while having cold draft beers. I have some great local ones at home in Los Angeles but when I go to visit my family in NYC we would normally have to trek all the way downtown to find a spot like this and it’s usually a hassle. Ambiance is huge with me and I love the open space of this spot as well as the fact that it gets lots of natural light before the sun sets because unless I’m in a seedy bar(and if you read my other reviews, you know I frequent those!), I don’t like to feel enclosed. I also really like the picnic tables. It reminds me of the beer gardens I’ve gone to in Germany. And now on to their draft selection. I love beer and if you see my previous reviews you’ll see that I’ve written about gastropubs in NY, CA, UK and Germany. Nothing beats a place with a really nice variety of draft beer instead of just having about 4 on tap and the rest only in bottles. Their selection has also introduced me to some that I’ve never even heard of which is kinda shocking to me. Not to be undone, the food is really great, compliments the beer selection and goes with the vibe. I spend a lot of time in the Kingsbridge/Riverdale area of the Bronx and I’m happy to have found a spot that I can bring my friends to the next time I’m in town.

Was hoping this would taste good. The décor is nice and the space is nice but the food was flavorless. The brisket sliders tasted meh. The baked beans were not good… they were watery with little to no seasoning. The mac and cheese was the best thing and that was just okay. Boyfriend’s quesadilla was tasteless, the cheese not so good. On the positive side, the waitress was nice and they have flat screen TVs showing sports games. Given the location and tough parking i would not visit again, unless it was to grab a beer and watch sports.

It’s about time that somebody recognizes the sophisticated palate of us Riverdalians. As much as I love and adore Manhattan sometimes you just don’t want to make the trip. Having a place like the Bronx BBQ Pit so close to home is exactly what we’ve been waiting for. The décor is trendy and lofty. The staff is super friendly, and the food… well, it’s just delicious, but please don’t take my word for it. Go find out for yourself.
