Great stop on the way to the cabin in Broken Bow to grab ice, drinks(beer, mixers) and any forgotten items. Easy in and out with decently clean restrooms. Seemed to be a busy spot on a summer Friday evening. Prices were average to cheaper than typical.

OK sundries, I guess. If you forgot something on the way to the lake and Walmart in Broken Bow is too far to backtrack, I guess you’re stuck coming here. Beer, ice, sunscreen is about all you need anyways, but who am I to tell you what to pack. Why two stars? The teenage girls have totally insufferable attitudes like their job is the worst ever and I’m a total loser for bothering them with patronage. «Sorry to spend $ 40 on crap. I’ll be more mindful next time so as not to need your service.» Oh, and lose the dead animal pics above the register. No one wants to come face-to-face with your lusty demonstration of over-compensation.

«Sprinkle Cheeto crumbs on the water…» Doesn’t sound like sage advice does it? Turns out, it is a fishing secret that worked like a charm. After directing us to one of the many fingers off of Broken Bow lake where lots of small fish congregated, one of the owner’s of the Frontier General store gifted us with that tidbit. This is the perfect little store for the visitor to Beavers Bend State Park. It is just south of the Carson Creek park entrance and has all the necessities until you can make the longer drive back to Broken Bow for the grocery store and/or Walmart. They also sell fishing licenses and keep the minimum equipment needed for your fishing adventures. The store even keeps live bait. I can testify to the effectiveness of their Canadian Nightcrawlers with the local perch. Armed with our bag of Cheetos, newly acquired fishing licenses, a styrofoam box of worms, and a few bottles of water and soda, we headed down to find a fishing spot on the cove. Settling down in a shady spot, I sprinkled our fish gathering gold on the water and watched the unsuspecting perch swim in for a meal. The kiddos were ready to start fishing for the very first time. The owners advice turned out to be solid, and the tiny fish were biting. The kids were thrilled with their first fishing trip and are even starting to tell the own fish tales. What more could I ask for in a local convenience store? They provided all the basics you need, fishing licenses, and good advice. Their gas prices were even pretty good.(Very good for a tourist area…) Maybe next time I’ll ask how to catch a fish longer than 3 inches.
