Recently had a three day weekend in Broken Bow with the family and decided before we left Dallas that we would cook at the rented cabin one night and eat out the other night. My wife had done a girls weekend to Broken Bow four or five years ago where they had eaten at Abendigo’s and she had good things to say about it so we gave it a shot. If this place is really the best Broken Bow has to offer then next time we’re cooking all our meals at the cabin. The wife said it was much better last time so maybe the owner/manager/chef changed in that time? We got there relatively early(5:30) in an attempt to avoid a long wait. We still had to wait 15 minutes — no big deal there. The hostesses were very nice to everyone coming in and trying to be as accommodating as possible. When we were seated it took our waiter a little longer than normal to stop by and get drink orders but overall the service was good. Very friendly waiter, but he was obviously somewhat new to waiting. He was nervous and unsure of himself but everyone has to learn sometime and he was very nice so I don’t have any issue with him. I had gone to the restroom after ordering drinks and noticed a decent amount of graffiti on the wall of the urinal. I also noticed a rather large hole at the end of the bar in the room we were seated in. It wasn’t the regular bar, it looked like maybe they used this room for special dinners where people reserved the whole room. So I just didn’t get a good feeling from the start — like either someone didn’t know how to run the restaurant or they were not making good enough money to take care of the place. So when it came time to order I was pretty afraid that they might also be cutting corners on food prep/purchase. I tried to go with the thing least likely to make me sick — so I went with something deep fried — the catfish. The wife went with a grilled chicken Alfredo pasta and we got the kid some fail safe chicken strips. My catfish was pretty forgettable and I’m pretty sure it came frozen and pre-breaded. It had no crunch to it at all so either it sat under a heat lamp for a while or they don’t know what temperature foods need to be fried at. The accompanying french fries were fine, standard fries. It also came with a creamed corn and coleslaw. The creamed corn was out of a can for sure and they added some fresh jalapeño’s to spice it up. The cole slaw was probably the best thing on the plate. It probably came pre-shredded out of a bag but at least it had a decent dressing on it. Slightly sweet with a little jalapeño in it as well for some heat. The wife’s Alfredo sauce really tasted like it came out of a jar. At the very least it was made days or weeks before she ate it. It just tasted stale and had little to no salt in it. I didn’t taste the kids chicken strips but she ate them up. It was just chicken strips and fries, though. No veggies as the picture from another reviewer shows. TLDR: Service was fine. Food was not. Seems like most of it was purchased already prepared and they just heated itup. Would rather make dinner at the rented cabin than eat here again.

I absolutely love this place. It is home to the best steak in Oklahoma. The staff is great. I always recommend this place to my friends from the city to eat there while in McCurtain County. I try to eat there at least once a year. I highly highly recommend you go to this restaurant. I wish I could give it more than five stars.

This restaurant was great! We dressed up and they had a more«fancy» room with a quiet, romantic ambiance. The food was delicious and different. Our waiter was Justin and he was so friendly and helpful. They also have a great beer selection with very cold beer. After we ate we went to their adorable patio and listened to live music and drank some more. When looking for a date worthy restaurant we are pretty picky and this place checked all of our boxes.

This place is excellent! We had the Sicilian Nachos which were excellent. The pulled pork fries were awesome. The calamari was some of the best I’ve ever had and the steak was good. I highly recommend this place.

Stay away, this place is absolutely pathetic. Be prepared to wait 30 minutes or more for a table even when the place is empty. Numerous times we have been here and there were 5 tables or less with people and we had to wait. Once you finally get a table be prepared to wait yet again for service and maybe an hour later you might get your food which will probably be wrong. Even then the food is mediocre at best. Stay away, it’s a shame because this place used to be good.

So I promised the waiter we had I’d give him a good review but I never got around to doing so. Last spring break, March of 2015, my boyfriend and I went to Broken Bow as a vacation. It just so happened that one of those days was out«8 month» anniversary, so we decided to go out to dinner and Abendigo’s Grill and Patio was the nicest place we could find. Now, I know that isn’t a big deal, most wouldn’t even count it as an anniversary, but our waiter, Justin, treated us as if we were a married couple celebrating their anniversary and that meant a lot to us. Most people would not have treated us as well as he did. He was funny, kind, and attentive. Even offered us a choice of two desserts on the house. We chose the crème brûlée and it was the best we had ever had. We did have a small wait that seemed a little pointless, but it was 5 minutes, tops. The food was delicious, especially the artichoke dip. We are a friendly couple so we got to know Justin a little and he told us a bit of his story which, to us, made him even more likable. We has such good service, we tipped him over half of what our overall meal cost! Overall, we enjoyed the food and service and will definitely be back whenever we visit Broken Bow.

Horrible place, poor management. My family of 6 had to wait 30 minutes for appetizers and then over an hour for our meals. The food came out cold, uncooked(hush puppies still had dough in them), salads were hot, penne pasta was uncooked and hard«the olive oil on the sauce was pure water.» The waiter kept apologizing and saying they were super busy and running behind but we literally were the first ones in his section. Yet after all of this the manager only offered a small discount off of our ticket price. Save yourself the trouble and check out the blue rooster or greatful head pizza. Worst dinner experience of my life.

The food was very good and our server Haley was very attentive. She was very personable and checked on us multiple times during our meal. We both had the 8 oz filet and the seasoning they used was very flavorful. They tend to cook steaks on the rarer side so order up a level from what you would normally order. Our only complaint was the dress code for the employees. For a steakhouse it was all over the place from some waiters in all black to one waitress who had on layered tank tops and leggings with a wide headband and looked like she had just come from the gym. For the price I would expect a consistent dress code of everyone in all black or black and white. We were greeted by the hostess in an angry birds tshirt and converse sneakers. Not what I expected for a place that it was recommended to make a reservation.

Started out a little rocky. Too many people trying to be hostess. Heard numerous people with reservations waiting forever. Our waitress was great but a few other tables that were not happy with service. The atmosphere… very very hard to describe. Patio meets, beat up second had rose. The food was decent but not something you would rush back for. We then had to listen to Chatty Bob tell us about living in Mexico. I wish I could remember our waitresses name. She was great.

I had a terrible time at Abendigo’s. The place looks nice and there is a lovely patio area with lights and great music. But the staff just didn’t fit the place. I walk in and the hostess yells over her shoulder for someone else to take care of me before running into the bathroom. That someone else took ages to seat me. I wonder if it was because I was alone and they just couldn’t be bothered about just one person. I literally had to wait around forever and then finally got seated after another party who came in after me. The guy wasn’t the host, so he led me around for awhile to various tables saying, OH! I thought we had more tables here. I guess not. Let’s go around to the back. My server was pretty awkward and wouldn’t bring me silverware right away even after I asked. He made me feel super self-conscious about being alone and in all wasn’t very personable. Based on the rave reviews of the Sicilian nachos, as a nacho lover I felt like I had to try them even though I’m only one person. Their«half portion» ended up being nearly the same price as the full size — I felt deceived. But I wouldn’t have minded that if they were actually good. What are the people here talking about?! They were the worst nachos I’ve ever had. The nachos were some funny fried thing that tasted like greasy Chinese wontons covered in white sauce with a few jalapenos and olives tossed on. I’d rather have doritos and cheese whiz. For my main meal, I had the burger which was horribly dry and totally not worth it. Seriously, I’d rather go to McDonalds. I totally regret not going to one of the friendly looking little diners in the area, or driving out a bit to get a nicer restaurant. Don’t waste your money on this place. Must clarify: this review was written in 2013 but my Unilocal account was not up to date, so they just posted it now that I’ve updated my email address. Things may have changed since then.

This was our first time here and we were highly impressed. This restaurant is really nice but you don’t need to get dressed up to eat there. Our waiter(sorry, forgot his name) was probably the best we’ve had anywhere in a long time. He was fast, very friendly and attentive. Food was awesome. Will definitely go back.

Great food, service is OK, wait time is bad. We had a large party of 17, which we had made a reservation several hours earlier. The waitress took about 30 minutes to take order. Finally water was delivered, but food took about 2 hours. Maybe it was the large party, but still too long.

You won’t be disappointed! For the appetizer, we had the guacamole which came with a nicely arranged, thicker order of corn chips(must better than traditional Mexican place). I ordered the shrimp and grits, which was blackened, seasoned shrimp in a cheesy grits mixture with mushrooms and a spicy tomato aioli. My wife had the 8 – 10 oz filet(medium rare), mashed potatoes, veggies, and it came out perfect. Miriam was our server(she was also great!) and service was fast, friendly, and responsive! Try this place!!!

Everyone talked about how fabulous this place was so we tried it the first night we arrived in town. Maybe I expected too much. Well prepared food considering the location. Dining atmosphere matches the prices about right. Service was good but I think the prices are still a little high overall. Bill for 2 adults 2 kids was about $ 65 before tip. We live in DFW Metroplex and have no problem paying that kind of price but I don’t know if we’ll go back to Abendigo’s again. Nothing was BAD, just didn’t think it was a good value overall. We have so many great choices in the city, a place like this probably wouldn’t make it very long. The next day we ate at Blue Rooster and wished we would have gone there instead of overspending on Abendigo’s. But, if you’re not used to fine dining, this place will probably be 5 stars for you.

My husband took our daughter here for a special occasion. We live here and were told it was a nicer place to go. They dressed up and found it to be a waste of time. The building itself was nice, but the waiters were dressed extremely casual and not great. The food was expensive and not very good. Don’t waste your time.

We were in the area for the weekend and this was the only place suggested by our hosts. So we gave it a shot. It was a fair drive down the highway for us, but easy enough to get to. It’s right off the highway, just past Girls Gone Wine and before the gas station. There is a big sign at the road right next to it for the Beavers Bend Marina/Park area. It was Saturday night, around 6pm. The parking lot was full. We did not have to wait more than a few minutes. They have a very large outdoor patio area as well for people having larger parties. Because of the mild temperatures it was being used while we were there. Menu prices are on par with a better than average restaurant. Probably considered high in the local area. Figure on spending about $ 40 or so for two. More if you get drinks and appetizer. Not a huge menu, but they cover the beef, chicken, fish areas as one would expect. It was just two of us, we both had chicken. There were only two different chicken dishes on the menu. So we had one each. Chicken Madeira, which has cheese, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. And the Crusted chicken, which comes with pasta. Both were very good. Portion size was just right. You won’t be taking home leftovers.(Gordon Ramsey would be happy). lol Service was fine. The chairs were a bit uncomfortable. Not sure what the building was prior to the restaurant opening there, but it has a very high ceiling and kind of an odd layout. Nothing really fancy as far as the décor or furniture. And it is not a suit and tie for dinner type of area anyway. But we came for the food, and that was very good and that is what counts. We also had the chocolate chip dessert which is served with some ice cream on top. It was sort of like bread pudding. It was also very good. So yes, check it out if you are in the area of Broken Bow lake there. It is worth a stop. They don’t have any serious competition at that price level as best we could tell from driving around. So your restaurant selections are going to be limited anyway.

This could so be five stars *if* they fixed just a few minor glitches … but those are for later. First, the food. I am going on record to state that I Had the Best Shrimp Dish I Have Ever Eaten. No question that the Shrimp and Grits will haunt my dreams like Citizen Kane’s vision of his sled, «Rosebud.» “Shrimp and grits…” [whispered as a cold fork slowly tumbles from my dead hand] But dang-it, they can’t get five stars because 1) their hostess was snotty; 2) the salad dressing was served in a black plastic cup akin to a fast-food take-out cup; 3) fans ran full-speed directly above the tables, so food is taken from hot-to-cold in a nanosecond; 4) the ventilation hoods must’ve been clogged because the dining rooms were filled with kitchen smoke; 5) the music kept coming on then turning off, with annoying feedback and crackling in between(ie, like they were trying to sync the house system with the outside live music; figure that out before you open); 6) the plates used for cold salad and cold desserts were hot, just out of the dish washer(place plates in the freezer to chill; very unappealing to feel a hot plate underneath cold lettuce); and 7) the chairs had impossibly long arms and were smooshed under the table, making it impossible to get into them without moving the table(and the aforementioned hostess was not about to be inconvenienced with helping guests get situated). Essentially, this might be the greatest take-out restaurant ever. Amazing food, seriously. It’d be great in a cabin with a bottle of wine(or four) from Girls Gone Wine(next door), but the dining area itself was a bomb. For entertainment, I started counting the flaws in the front-of-the-house. The back-end guys(prep, chef, sous, kitchen manager) have their s*hit locked down tight. Get a detail-oriented front-of-the-house person and Abendigo’s would improve overnight.
