Went here 2 weeks ago for my daughter’s dance recital. It is a pretty nice little venue. Was actually a little bigger than I thought it would be. Perfect for a little performance!

Poorly managed from its pending demolition to renovation. This building should have been knocked to the ground. Set against an under-landscaped railroad track, and slumlord housing. In an episode of 80s Night Court, a hillbilly couple buys the rights to operate a snack bar in the courthouse, then proceeding to do price gouging, charging thousands of dollars for candy bars etc. It’s funny to watch. In real life, it’s frustrating. The hillbillies from The Simpsons run this warehouse-turned micro stage. Its upstairs meeting room is nothing to boast about, comparable to any conference room found at most libraries(except Brighton). This structure is the pride of Rob Fair, Chair of the Heart of Brighton, and local eye doctor. They built it presuming people would flock to rent it out as if it was Madison Square Garden. Didn’t happen. It’s hard to rent out a facility when the admin staff(see TV references above) refuse to answer the phones or emails. Same folks once ran the Brighton Rec Center’s kids programs. Brighton has more of its youth in jail than involved in high school athletics. Bathrooms are average. All food/drink must be imported. Parking is shared with library. Only rent this place if you absolutely have to. It’s not large enough to house any shows that people would Pay for. Poorly conceived and executed, like most other creations by Brighton’s finest. Not kid-friendly despite some events being marketed to kids and families.
