This hotel is outstanding for families. Lake by day canoeing, swimming, tennis, game room and bbq by night. S’mores by the campfire is awesome. The staff here is great. Very friendly and accommodating. Definitely will stay here again.

I have stayed at this ‘Resort’ four times over 10 years. This is a no-frills motel on a lake in a quiet area of Maine. Rooms are equipped with the essentials, and a few of the rooms are efficiencies with a small food prep area and stove. Each room has a porch facing the large lawn and the lake. There is a laundry room, game room and a room for group activities. It is a good place to go if the weather is nice, and you like to be outside relaxing. The nearby town of Bridgton has a grocery store, a movie theater and some interesting shops. The downside is that the proprietor is fairly cold and businesslike. For the limited amenities, the price of a glorified motel room at this place(around $ 135/night) seems too much. If you need to arrive after ‘check in’ hours, it seems like a chore. I have never felt welcome here, despite my chipper demeanor, non-haggling low-maintenance nature, and multiple visits. For the cost of this place, you could probably rent a private cottage in a quieter locale, or hang out with a sweet B&B owner who would make the experience more personal.

Highland Lake is on a picturesque lake and my extended family and I have enjoyed returning to visit. The amenities are a little dated, but the rooms are cozy and there are kitchens in many rooms. Parking can sometimes be an issue for the rooms closer to the water. The lake area is fun and we’ve jumped off the dock many many times!
