Watch the pricing! I’ve been there twice and the food is very good, but just like another reviewer said, you need to watch what they charge you. First time, we ordered $ 40 worth of food and HE tried to charge me $ 60. I said something like«can you check that, it should be about $ 40». He «checked» and mumbled sorry and charged me… $ 40. Second time I ordered a breakfast burrito and SHE charged $ 5.00(unlike the $ 3.50 mentioned by another reviewer). The first time it happened I assumed it was an honest mistake. The second time, I came to Unilocal as I considered posting my experience… then I see others saying the same thing. Not sure if it matters, but I am a «white guy» speaking English…

Excellent food, I go here every time I’m in the area! Their nachos have excellent toppings and are a good serving for more than two people with other food being ordered. Their tacos are awesome!!!

What a great authentic Mexican food place. Bring with you a good appetite. Highly recommended: Tacos Placeros(mostly the chorizo one), the Torta Choriqueso, and the Carnitas Sope. Don’t forget for a drink one of their aguas frescas… if the large selection confounds you, go for the ‘Horchata’(Rice water). Enjoy!

Seriously good Mexican food. I stopped in today for the first time last week and had a hard time deciding between so many good options. I finally decided on the dinner burrito. The only thing I could compare it to was the Mexican food I’ve had in Southern California. It was fresh and most importantly authentic. The place itself you could pass by, but you must stop in and try the food. You won’t be sorry.

Mi Rancho is the definition of a hidden gem. A block down from a popular Mexican restaurant along with the guise of being just a mini-mart makes this place seem insignificant to any normal passerby. But once inside, staring at the giant menu in Spanish, you know you’re in for a treat. If you’re in the mood for delicious, large portioned, authentic Mexican food that really respects your budget, look no further than Mi Rancho Deli.

I’m from California and most of the so called Mexican food I find on the east coast is simply mushy and meh. It never seems to really satisfy. Mi Rancho however is wonderful. No– better than that! It’s awesome. I was so pleasantly surprised. Very flavorful. They even have cooked cactus. I wish I lived close by. I’d come here at least once a week. Not expensive. Had the carnitas burrito with lettuce and tomato. It also had good Mexican cheese and avocado on it.

This is my go-to spot for lunch! Awesome authentic Mexican food and groceries, right down to the spices and imported candies. I could spend all day here. The cemitas de bistec are soooo good! I always grab a Vero Mango on my way out. Only thing that could complete this place and make it my East Coast Mexican Food Heaven would be Asada Fries!

You can get breakfast burritos here for $ 3.50 that are absolutely delicious. Be careful though what they charge though, they’ll try to overcharge you for everything unless you catch it.

When I start to get a hankering for California I drop by Mi Rancho, my favorite place to enjoy a torta and a mandarina Jarritos! In addition to the awesome sandwiches piled as high as my face with meat & beans & cheese, Mi Rancho also carries an incredible collection of specialty Mexican goods including all the snacks my Chicano students love like chile lollipops and every flavor of Takis. I do wish they put mayonnaise and some pickled jalapeños on the sandwiches — or that they’d ask about your preferred condiments…

It really is a raw diamond, amazing Mexican food, not quiet five restaurant deco, although always friendly staff and delicious authentic and fresh food!

Ordered the bistek taco; loved how fresh the spices taste! This place is cute, has a small grocery as you walk in but behind the shelves is a seating area that boasts of murals as if you were in Mexico! This place is quite a find, the dishes are authentic and so is the décor. The restaurant has their own smoker — as I witnessed as the staff take a whole roast of pork out of it. Now that is fresh! The bistek taco cooked well, garnished with cilantro and raw onions. Would’ve have been perfect with cervesa – but too bad, this place would be even better if they served beer! Overall, this luncheonette is highly recommended. Tip: practice your Espanol before going since, I was able to place my order by pointing out what I wanted on the menu – but if you want specifics regarding how the food is prepared/options available then bring a friend who speaks Spanish or use an app on your phone

like bill said, anyone who goes to chipotle after eating here should have a scarlet letter placed on their taste buds. burritos + tacos + chimichangas are awesome. i haven’t ventured outside of those yet but all of em are awesome and the burritos + chimis are the size of a small baby. super authentic and super affordable.

I have to give it five stars b/c CT is so devoid of good Mexican food. This place is fantastic — made to order, authentic food. The ONLY drawback is no booze. WARNING: As of late, food has been insanely spicy.

Another legit Mexican spot on Fairfield Ave. Get a burrito … and shop in the store while you’re waiting. Fresh ingredients, authentic preparation … if you go to Chipotle after eating here you’re not doing yourself any favors.

I used to live in Chicago. Every other corner in my last two neighborhoods there(Wicker/Humbolt and Rogers) had very good Mexican food. It was easy to find. Easy to get and super cheap. The better places were always a little tucked away and with smaller signs. Then I moved to New York and found so little good Mexican in Manhattan I wanted to go loco. Then I ended up in Black Rock. Mexican grocers! I was excited again! Good butchery! Yeas! Bueno! !!SI! Mi Rancho became a regular haunt. I’d go in the morning for a breakfast torta or their own take on huevos rancheros and chiliquiles. Stewed hot peppers. Good fresh ingredients(it is a grocer…) and Del Ray flour tortillas(and great local corn tortillas that are $ 1 for 20). I’d stop for dinner – cubano tortas, chicken tortas, carnitas tacos. I still do. It’s a place for whomever, but not a first date kinda place – the chairs have«character» as do the faded pictures, the drama of the soap operas perpetually playing, but I stop with the family from time to time, or with a friend and some favorite libations for after a skate session down the street at Rampage or at one of the local skateparks. Did I say this is in the back of a small grocer? It’s in the back of a small grocer. Most people I recommend it to didn’t even know the place served food. This is one of the better Mexican food places in Fairfield County. Stand down.
