I shop at Shop-Rite because it’s in the area of where I live. Good store for food, It has a large selection and the prices are good. I noticed that the food(lately) has been either stale or not good. The packaged cold cuts are not good, The bakery dept. is ok but not great. The apple turnover hardly have any apples in them and the pies are very dry. Check dates because the bread are frozen and wet when they put them out to purchase. We had to throw out quit a bit of food lately. I don’t understand why because with Path Mark & A & P closings in Brick, you would think the food would move faster on the shelf. Anyway, check everything as you pick it up & check the dates. Stay away from the premade pies & apple turnovers. Too dry.

We ordered several dishes from their catering department for my son’s birthday party. We ordered, Penne w/Vodka, Chicken Francaise, Mozz Sticks, pasta salad, and fruit salad. Starting from good to bad… the fruit salad was good and fresh. the mozz sticks were typical, nothing special but not bad. the pasta salad was ok, nothing to write home about the chicken was pretty much not edible. It was bland, dry, and really couldn’t even tell it was francaise. We added a bunch of seasonings, but it really didn’t help. I threw out more half eaten chicken breasts than you can imagine. The penne vodka was similarly dry and flavorless. We should’ve just but 3lbs of pasta and three jars of sauce and made it ourselves. We called Shoprite and they did refund the money we paid for the penne. My recommendation is to go with one of the local restaurants — I think they would probably be more concerned with taste and quality, and it would be worth a few extra dollars.

Low prices are great but horrible produce, salads usually wilt the day after we buy them other produce turns to moosh shortly after, my wife has had to return poultry that had rotted in the diaplay case. Also the lakewood shoprote has recently closed down So now brick has become even more congested

Probably the best grocery store in town, or in the tri-town radius for that matter. The produce section is fantastic and amazingly fresh, as is the deli /meat sections. If you ever need a quick meal(or a decent lunch), there’s even a full sub shop, Chinese takeout, sushi section, and hot food buffet(by the pound, I believe). The buffet closes after lunch, but you can still get the items in prepackaged containers along the deli section coolers. Overall, the food quality from these quick meals is generally pretty good, and make a perfect dinner for when you just don’t feel like cooking, which I often don’t. The cheese section is better than the Pathmark or A&P nearby, carrying all sorts of cheeses that I’d never heard of. Some were downright delicious, others(such as the German Tilsit) were outright awful — but hey, at least they have variety, I’m sure there’s a Limburger lover out there that’ll appreciate it. This location also has a pretty decent international section, as well as a real nice dairy. Other than that, it’s just a well stocked store with good prices. The downsides? First off, parking can be utter hell during busy hours — this shares a lot with about 15 other stores, and is smack dab in the middle of about 4 retirement communities. The end result is a parking lot and store that’s flooded with a ton of older people who have nowhere to be, and frankly probably shouldn’t be driving(I’ve personally witnessed at least 2 old ladies getting into fender benders in this parking lot). Also, when they remodeled a few years back, they decided to put only ONE sliding door on the entrances, so people who are entering and leaving are forced to use the same doorway, leading to really frustrating traffic jams with shopping carts during busy hours. My advice to negate all the downsides? Come here after 9PM — all the older people will be home sleeping, the traffic is non existent, and you can do your shopping in relative peace.

Down the shore from northern NJ, was blown away by the size and scope of this store. Move it up to Bergen! The only disagreement with the first reviewer was I didn’t find the staff overly helpful, reason for no extra star.

This is a great store. I have been coming up to the shore from VA on vacation for about 5 years now and I always frequent the Shop Rite in Brick. Why you ask? Selection, prices and the cleanliness of the store. The staff is always friendly. The Deli and Seafood sections speak for themselves with the freshest seafood and great deli cuts. The produce is always fresh. The store can get crazy sometimes so bring your patience. I would recommend the«out of towners» to get a shop rite card for discounts.

Way better than the A&P across the street, huge selection with VERY low prices, but insanely crowded and hectic all the time… bring your helmet, its like shopping cart bumper cars!
