I’m not going back. This store was renovated and the prices are good. However, over the past several months there are only a FEW cashiers on duty. The past few times I was there I stood in line for over 25 minutes to check out. It’s just not worth the wait anymore. I will go elsewhere.

I’d give it 0 stars if I could. Store is filthy. Employees are awful and just don’t care. The people who work at the deli counter are AWFUL!!! They are so slow and move at a snails pace. The managers hang out in the front by the registers socializing. They should try venturing out into the store to see what the employees are actually doing while they’re supposed to be working and asking shoppers how their experience is. The whole place, store and staff, needs a clean sweep.

Every time we come here we have a decent experience. However today was a TERRIBLE experience. Had to get some things on my shopping list. We had one thing left on the list, a lock, after 20 minutes of searching I wanted to ask a staff member about the location of the lock. Was searching for another 20 minutes when we finally found a staff member, he also did not know where the lock was and then searched for it. What really made me annoyed was when he was interrupted by another customer and went off with him and totally ignored me. WHATKINDOFSERVICEISTHAT! Finally a CUSTOMER helped me find the lock which was located at the corner of the store. Left extremely annoyed. Even thought it may be a little more go to Target a few miles down the road.

Would be 3.5 stars for this update… I went here yesterday with my relatives since they needed some essentials. When I was kid and visited my relatives in the area, we’ve always stopped by this location(which wasn’t «Super» at that time) just solely for the purpose of killing the time, and grabbing something only if it was necessary. This is the first location that I’ve ever visited for a Super Wal*Mart. The exterior and interior of the remodeled building looked modern and clean. You still need to deposit a quarter just to get a cart, though. When I walked in, I was actually surprised in a more positive way. The long line that stretched toward the center of the store entrance at customer service during the last time I was here wasn’t there anymore. In fact, customer service was a little better than my previous experience here. When I asked for assistance in finding an item, no issue arose at all. The garden center was a lot nicer and bigger than the Watchung location. The shelves for garden décor and plant essentials there were organized. The area for flowers(which was outside) looked nice. The staff there were nice enough to explain which flower was which, and the price for it too(for the ones that weren’t clearly labeled). Regarding the other areas of the store, they started to carry some of what was available up North, which was good. Unfortunately, some of the shelves were a bit messy, but if you look closely in that mess, you could find what you’re looking for. Most of the prices were competitive, but that depended on what you were trying to get. When I walked into the store, I saw a case of Pringles on the left side of me, with a price tag on top. The price was five cents cheaper than the locations up North. Very interesting. The grocery(or «market») area of the store looked really nice. The shelves, for the most part, were organized. The produce section looked all right, as well as the deli area. The bakery area looked really good. Overall, the store serves it’s purpose. It’s located right off of NJ-88 and NJ-70(via Jack Martin Blvd.). The parking area is big, but be patient when finding a spot, especially on the weekends. Happy Shopping.

The lack of customer service is exactly what you’d expect from walmart. Thanks a lot seemingly mentally unstable associate who argued with me about if they had a certain item in stock, then refused to get it when I showed them their website said in stock. So, I just went to Best Buy and got the same item for cheaper.

Walmart is the worst! Don’t forget your quarters to unlock a cart, the cashiers will not break a dollar for you and force you to go to CS, which has a line of 10 people and doesn’t move. I come here once in a while because it is unfortunately convenient. I prefer Target much more. This is the way the US works, you almost can’t avoid going to a Walmart…

i live in howell so theres one 5mins by my house. but okay everyone was raving and ramping you must check this Walmart it’s a super one with grocery and such, which is the same as one in Howell. but okay let me check it out since it’s was close to Cosco. well like me tell you, crowed like all walmarts on a Sunday afternoon. the isles were more narrow can barely fit two carts passing, it’s like a race to get thru the isles before someone get in.!! Lol. and tell me why they have cleaning stuff right in where the foods are??? that’s a bit gross and un-appealing. Walmart is Walmart the one in Howell is much more nicer to shop at!

This is a place you go to because you have to, not because you want to. A step up from Kmart, but a step down from Target. The aisles are always cluttered, and the renovation is taking too long. The parking lot is cut in half, and has awkward turns, which will hopefully improve once the renovation ends. The selection is so-so, the patrons creep me out, and the employees, for the most part, leave a lot to be desired!

Wal-Mart’s «Always low prices» are average at best at this location — on par with the K-Mart next door and the Target just 2 miles away. And without low prices to get me in the door, I really have no incentive to put up with the store’s awful service and shoddy atmosphere. This Wal-Mart is plagued by a lack of cashiers, and the ones who are on duty are painfully slow. I thought Wal-Mart graded their cashiers on speed. If so, it seems like nobody wants to be the one to raise the bar for the others. The store also doesn’t seem motivated to call more cashiers up to the front when lines get long. Even at the pharmacy, which at least has its own cash register, the pharmacist was the most distant and disinterested I’ve dealt with. He could barely spit out the medication instructions fast enough before turning away. Fortunately the labels were more clear than his directions. The K-Mart, which is in walking distance, has an awkward feel — the feel of a store that is patiently waiting for death — but I honestly prefer to shop there. It at least feels clean, if hollow, and the cashiers move at a decent pace. Or if I feel like braving Route 70 to get to Target, I can get a bright, clean, and open atmosphere at a store that isn’t afraid to call extra cashiers to the front when needed. And if I need a pharmacy, there is a Walgreens in the same lot as Wal-Mart, there is a Pathmark next to the K-Mart, and Target has a pharmacy as well. I am honestly not sure why I would go back to this Wal-Mart.

I honestly can’t stand walking into this Wal-Mart(frankly, I can’t stand the company in general, but every now and then I’ll need something at a late hour, and this is the only place open nearby). On the outside, it’s your typical Walmart, complete with gigantic parking lot filled with the area’s worst drivers. Once you walk through those sliding doors however, things quickly go downhill. First off, it might just be me, but this place just feels dirty, like they don’t sweep it too often /too well, and have let the place fall into a slight disrepair. A walk by the TV and Electronics department solidifies this, as all the tvs are out of sync with each other, causing a really annoying jumble of delayed advertisements. As another reviewer had said, for whatever reason, this Walmart seems to attract some of the trashiest people from the nearby areas, which doesn’t help matters much(although it can sometimes be hilarious to watch). Secondly, I’ll never understand why people always say how walmart is the best in terms of selection and prices, because in this location I’ve found neither to be true, except during some sales. The same or better prices can often be find elsewhere in the area. Once again, personal opinion here… but this place just feels poorly laid out as well, and I always end up wandering around for 25 minutes trying to find what I’m looking for. although that might be intentional, so they can get people to ‘discover’ more products, etc. Finally, and the single most important reason I can’t stand going here? Cashiers. They need to either train everybody in the store on the registers, or hire about 10 more people, because there has not been a single time I’ve gone here that the lines at the registers haven’t been obnoxiously long and slow moving. Often times, there’s only 2 – 3 lanes open during peak hours, causing massive lines, and the employees on the registers are VERY casually scanning items, making a simple transaction take longer than it should. This never happens to me at places like Target, where they’ll call more people to the front if the lines start to back up. Unless it’s an absolute emergency and I *need* something after 10PM, I likely will not be going here again.

This Wal-Mart is just like any other one you’ve ever been to. I remember there used to be a drive-in movie theater in this spot back in the day. My father took me to see the old abandoned screen before it was torn down to build Wal-Mart. I don’t think I’ve been in the Rt. 88 K-Mart since this Wal-Mart opened.
