food was good if it came out hot. long wait times. i made the the mistake and asked for tortillas after food was there. most of the time it takes two minutes to make and get out to table. finished eating still nothing. told them to forget it. i have read some reviews here and theres one that stuck out, owners say next time we will make your experience better. well you better make every time better or you will be going out of business. first impressions are the best. cold food and waiting for food is not the way to make it better get the food out not sitting in window. maybe hire someone just make sure food gets to table when it comes out.

I bought chile verde for 16 dollars! And what i got is a piece of joke! Not worth spending 16 dollars for giving me such small portion of food.

We have been regulars here for over 9 months. We have thoroughly enjoyed the staff and owners hospitality. My littlest one adores them. We know most of them by name and they, us. The food has been decent, but one particular dish is prepared in a way similar to what I had years ago and had missed. Because of these two things, we overlooked a few problems. We stopped taking friends and stopped ordering chicken dishes when we had bones in the chicken dishes more than a couple times, even in kid’s plates. At that time, it was pointed out that the menu states there may be bones in the chicken. The last time we ate here, there was a small stick in the beef taco that lodged in my son’s throat. Luckily his vomit cleared it. The most frightening thing I have ever heard from him was, «There is something sharp in my neck and it won’t move.» I had no idea how to help him and not make it worse. When he vomited it up, I told the server, who is also an owner, who gave me 15% off that dish and replaced the plate that was vomited on. We have had more foreign objects in our food at that restaurant than all others combined. The worst part is that it seems to be no big deal to them. We won’t be going back since I don’t feel that it is safe to eat there or that the management will address the problem.

We have started coming to Chapala at least once a week. We like their food, service and the overall feel at this restaurant.
Any other visit I would have given it a 4 or 5 star… Sadly yesterdays visit was not so good. I’m writing this in hopes the owner/​manager takes notice.
We had a party of four. Three of us ordered our usual… Enchilada Dinner, Garlic Shrimp Dinner and Chile Relleno. It was the first time here for the 4^th person. She asked the server if the Ceviche had onion. The server said yes, but she could order without, so thats what she did. We were having a good time talking, drinking, laughing and then realized that our food was taking a long time. And we also noticed the group behind us, arrived after us and was already eating. They had a different server.
Our server showed up with the Ceviche first. It’s like she was almost hiding it while she said.“The Ceviche has onion, I hope thats okay”. Well no, thats not okay. Yes, maybe the ceviche is made ahead of time, but why wouldn’t she or the cook that read the order say that so she could order something else.
And then looking at the ceviche it almost looked like they had added extra onion on top as a garnish. At first she took the ceviche, but after looking at it there was no way she could eat it. I took it over to the bar area where I talked with the other server and she said that the Shrimp Cocktail can be made with no onion so we ordered that. And they would make it fast for us. At that same time the server turned around and asked our server whose food was sitting on the counter… of course it was the rest of our order. Not under a heat lamp… just sitting on a counter. After I went to sit down she brought the rest of our order… but not immediately. I should have just taken it myself. Of course our food was lukewarm. But there was no way we were going to send that back as we had been there so long. Our friend who was waiting for her order told us not to wait to eat as our food would just get colder. We ate S L O W L Y… and of course her Shrimp Cocktail didn’t arrive until we were done. We felt so bad that she had to eat by herself.
The server came with the bill and said they had discounted her meal for the mistake. We thought that was nice… until we saw the discount.
The price of the Shrimp Cocktail was $ 14.99, our total bill was $ 61.00 they deducted $ 2.25! That’s not even the price of a glass of tea!
There were two servers… Ive never seen the one who took our order. Hopefully she is new and will get better… but someone else should have helped to make sure food was going out right and on time.
I noticed the owner/​manager only comments on positive reviews… You should really take notice on the not so positive reviews.
We love this place but bad service will make you lose customers. no matter how much we like your food.

We came across this place while looking for a second Mexican Restaurant to frequent. The service was on point and the food was delicious. We got the Shrimp Tostada, a Chimicanga, some Tacos and a Chile Verde. All was good. My only gripe is the chips seemed like they came out of a Doritos Bag but the salsa was on hit!

Do not eat here!!!
The grossest dining experience ever.
It took us 15 minutes to get our food.
There was only one other table occupied in the place and they got their food before us even though they ordered after us.
The waitresses didn’t ask if we needed refills or more chips and salsa.

my wife gets her plate and she ordered Carnitas tacos.
Let’s change the name to shredded hair tacos.
We were shocked there were actually black long human hairs sticking out of the taco… for five of them at least.
I would have taken a pic and posted it but we were in such utter shock we just got up and left after telling the waitress how completely unacceptable the situation was. It was seriously bad enough that we thought we might be on a hidden camera show! Stay away from here folks!!!

If u like expensive food, cold food and bad service… then this is the place for u! The food is actually good. My first visit was actually quite good but the food temperature could have been better. Margaritas suck too! I will never go back after my second visit tonight. My food and my daughters food was cold. We couldn’t even eat it. When the server came back to deliver the rest of our food, I explained that 2 of our plates were cold. She came back right away with our same plates that she microwaved. Mind you I had tacos. The lettuce was soggy and everything inside. Gross! She never came back to check on us. So, I never had the opportunity to ask for something else. By that point, I was irritated and just wanted to leave. I told the server that I was sending it back, not interested in anything else and would like my check! Needless to say with my plate deducted our bill was still $ 59 for crappy food. Oh, they charged extra for additional servings of chips and salsa.

Great place for delicious Mexican food. Tried the tamale, enchilada, and chile relleno. All three were delicious. Tried some of their seafood soup, so good. And i tried some of the birria, super delicious! And the service was great. Definitely will be coming back.

Got a steak burrito with guacamole! Dining room was clean and service was great! The burrito was pretty yummy!

I love the shrimp tacos. The customer service is great! It is a great spot to have lunch on a weekday.

My wife and i have been here on two occasions and both times have gotten excellent costumer service, the ladies servers are very attentive and courteous, the food is delicious, great portions and it doesn’t lack flavor like some other restaurants.
We had the birria de chivo (goat birria) and it was delicious! Will most definitely be returning!

I had the 5.99 lunch special the chicken enchiladas which you got three and they we’re good size.
Serviced was fast the place was clean and the food was good. Overall a very positive experience!

My husband and I live a couple of blocks from here, and get our fix a few times a month. The staff is really nice and accommodating. (I will admit the service is slightly slow sometimes, but it’s forgiveable.)
The food is tasty with large portions, and this restaurant is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN!
The whole staff is friendly, and it is a comfortable atmosphere. (They even let my husband use the remote to change the TV channel yesterday!)
This is a great neighborhood restaurant!

Chapala was a nice choice for a taste of Mexican. Margaritas were good, nice size without the $ 10 price tag. Week nights are themed. Taco Tuesday, Fajita Friday, Thirsty Thursday, etc all featuring a special priced item (s). Although good, and service was nice. we will probably not visit again. Nothing memorable or far more impressive than other options in the area.

The Carne Asada fries are AMAZING, they have so much flavor, and if you add the hot salsa, they are even better. The cheese enchiladas were also really good. The mild salsa and chips are good, but be sure to ask for the hot salsa for more flavor and spice. The best mexican food in Brentwood.

Taco Tuesdays are great. Like their friendly staff. Recently used their catering for a meeting. Ordered 30 tacos with beans and rice. Order was ready to pickup the next day at the time I requested and check out was quick not like some places that start the order when I go to pick up.
I like their beans and rice. Another time, had the Burrito Bowl — very good and low carb. Looks like they may be having more special days than Taco Tuesday. Burrito Monday? Can’t remember them right now.

So far, this place gets a solid 4 stars. I placed my order to go: 5 carnitas tacos, a kids cheese quesadilla plate, and an horchata.
The carnitas tacos were definitely satisfying. Nice and juicy, served with pico de gallo and limones (limes) with jalapeños on the side. I always eat my tacos with salt and lime, and these tasted great! Even the little one stole 2 of my tacos. Being a wuss, I forewent the jalapeños. ;)
Since we traded 2 tacos for her quesadilla, I ate it. The quesadilla was what you would expect; cheese in a flour tortilla. I tried her beans and rice that came with her plate and was a big fan of the rice. Actually, it reminded me of homemade Mexican rice and had a good flavor to it. By far, one of the better rice sides of anywhere I’ve been, and that I’ve tasted in quite some time (besides my own). :)
The beans were just ok, nothing special.
My favorite part of my meal was surprisingly, the horchata. It was nice and sweet without being overly sugary sweet. It was light and refreshing just like an agua fresca was meant to be. Their horchata has to be my favorite horchata of any I’ve tasted in the area and it was a great compliment to my meal.
All in all, solid tacos and rice, and excellent horchata.
I’ll be looking forward to trying their other menu items and will definitely bookmark them for Taco Tuesday’s!

Great staff. Not impressed with their bean dip or bean and cheese burrito ($ 5 for a small bean and cheese is a little iffy to me).
Carne asada tacos are good! Can’t pass up taco Tues, $ 1 tacos which makes me feel better about paying $ 5 for a small bean and cheese burrito. I’ll be back for the tacos!

I just finished workout out next door & was starving, I came in here looking for some fish tacos & the menu looked a bit strange for a Mexican place. But whatever, I rolled with it, ordered some crispy fish tacos, asked for no cheese & to add guacamole…
Like 15min later, I get my tacos, one was missing guacamole, the other 2 had it inside, but a very small amount for $ 1.50 extra. So the awesome waitress got me a little side of guacamole & apologized. I thought I tasted cheese in the tacos at some point & I hope my arse doesn’t blow chunks later because I got «dairied».
Overall, the chicks that work there are awesome & super nice, but the food is slow & on the bland side for the price. I’m not asking for works of art, but the tacos are rather uncreative & sadly, I’ll pass on coming here again.
