Not a family place. Seems the owners can’t decide whether it should be a restaurant or a cantina. The cantina section is the size of your kitchen. The dining area is unremarkable. A pool table where dining tables used to be and a dance floor has been installed. It’s for the steerage class now. Very limited menu. Street tacos are tasty. Weak margarita. Menu includes burgers and Mac and cheese. Not a full service Mexican restaurant.

I came here for the Halloween party, they occasionally have a Dj on Saturday nights that plays great music from old school to new school, there’s a good enough crowd to want to get up and dance and have a good time. The drinks are great as well!

Yikes! Not sure what they are looking for a bar/pool hall or good food they don’t have either. We paid 55.00 dollars for three drinks nachos and street tacos. c’mon man!!! I would have been better off going to a chain restraunt near the Brentwood theaters.

Don’t waste your time this has to be the worst Mexican restaurant in Brentwood. Arrived at 6:45pm for dinner and should have left when we were the only customers. There was only 6 in our party. Each one of us got our dinners served separate — then the server told us that they were shutting down kitchen — why they didn’t tell us. We will never go here again.

I loved Mia’s, but this place sucks. It’s NOT Mia’s and it’s NOT mexican food. It’s a limited bar menu and the interior is a dark version of what was already there, except the addition of a loud TV and a Pool table. It’s a bar basically. I have no idea if the drinks area any good, but if you want mexican food there are SO many great restaurants around here. Why on earth would you go here? I miss Mia’s for sure. oh well

Had very high hopes for this place! My business partner and our associates would eat at the old place«Mia’s» at least 3 times a week for lunch, and I used to bring food home after work from there for my Fiancé and her son. I was very disappointed when they closed because the food was very good. But, I support new local businesses, and was very excited to see something more modern coming in, «we need more great places in Brentwood as most of you know. » At first, after initial overview of everything, the first week they opened, I was very happy. The staff was full, very attentive… But The menu was very small, and took me by surprise though. I love Mexican food, I mean«real Mexican»(I’m probably one of the only gringo’s you’ll ever see demolish a tray of buche, tripas, lengua, and cabeza tacos!“lol) so, it was a little upsetting that the staples, «other than street tacos, or burritos with traditional meats» were not even on the menu. Yes they have wings and appetizers, good drinks, but I can go to tailgaters if I want great drinks, wings, and appetizers! Now when I go in, the food is just«ok» almost spoiled to me, or old, and the staff has went from FULL, to nothing! I swear, my hostess, my waitress, my bartender,(hell, maybe even cook) was the same person. Literally!!! She was, and also on top of doing EVERYTHING for us, and others that were there, was also cleaning… She was amazing, and if it hadn’t been for her, I would have walked out… I mean, Seriously!!! I am a state LICENSED, CERTIFIED inspector. I’ve seen this a million times. So sad… Great business«idea,» started and being ran by someone that knows nothing. I give it 1 more month if that before they close up shop!

Had lunch here today with my friend. Ordered Asada burrito which was recommended by the waitress. The meat was dry, tasted spoiled, sticky inside & smells. I took couple bites & asked my friend to try it to get her opinion and she confirmed it’s not my taste buds and it does taste spoiled meat like mold, sour spoiled taste. We told the waitress about it, she apologized & took it out of our receipt. As much as I love supporting our local businesses I’m sorry to say, I will not go back to this place again! Spoiled food, the place is dirty, flies everywhere, menus are dirty & slow service.

I am a prior waitress at Cabo Diablo as of an hour ago(I quit) to say the least, this place is a shit hole. My reasoning… 1.) not only did he hold one of the chefs checks, but numerous checks have been bounced. When he owes people money, he simply ignores them. I was working with the chef whose check was held,(doesn’t speak much English) he said«No pay. No work.» 2.) the food is disgustingly horrible!!! The menu is a joke! 3.) Mike has no real bartenders working for him, therefore he has underage girls making drinks and serving them as well. 4.) Mike is a creep/perv and EXTREMELYUNPROFESSIONAL. He would look and give strange remarks. I once caught him looking at my breasts. A waitress expressed to me that Mike asked her if she was single. Mike also wanted all of the girls to come into work in bikinis. NOTONLYTHAT, HEWANTEDTOTAKEUSON A BOATINBIKINISFOR A «PHOTOSHOOT». Just weird. This is a shady business. Point blank period. If I could give it negative stars, I would.

My family and I had high hopes for this newly renovated restaurant. We went in on weekday and the hostess who greeted us said to sit anywhere we liked. The entrance and bar area looked nice, but as you walk further into the establishment you’ll see a pool table off to the left and then a dining area. It looks like they just added a fresh coat of paint and not much else. We sat in a booth, which unfortunately was right next to a TV that was hung in the pool table area and the volume was very loud. My husband asked the waitress if she could turn it down… and eventually someone did. There was also a huge projection screen in the dining area, which was a little distracting and took away from the ombiance. We were given chips, salsa and bean dip. The salsa was very good, but the chips tasted store bought. We ordered our drinks,(my youngest daughter asked for milk, but they were out) I ordered the Cantina Girl. It was very strong, but I liked it. ;) As previous reviewers mentioned, the menu is very simple, it has no descriptions and there was no kids menu either. My daughter ordered a bean and cheese burrito with a side of rice, and my toddler ordered a side of beans and rice. I ordered a taco salad with shredded chicken and whole beans and my husband ordered nachos with chicken. Most of our food had arrived, except for my daughter’s burrito. The waitress explained that they gave her burrito to another table by mistake and would make a new one. My husband’s nachos were made using the same chips mentioned earlier and he said his chicken was dry. My taco salad was pretty good, the shredded chicken was flavorful, I just wished there was more of it, but the beans tasted like they came from a can. My daughter’s burrito arrived eventually and it was pretty good, luckily she had the side of rice to eat while she waited. Overall, we were not very impressed and I was a little shocked when bill came out to $ 60! I do hope that they are able to make improvements over time and wish them all the best.

I had been wanting to check out this place once I saw Mia’s had closed, and Cabo Diablo going into the space. We actually called for take-out as we were driving home from the Bay Area, craving some Mexican food but didn’t feel like sitting down in a restaurant. The person who answered and took our order was friendly, attentive, and spoke clear fluent English. Even though I hadn’t seen a menu I kind of assumed they would have certain dishes– carne asada super burrito and chicken enchiladas plate– which they did. We arrived about 10 mins early from the order eta, which allowed us to check out the new set-up. The whole ambience is much better– refreshed, modern with touches of classic Mexican décor. We had gone to Mia’s several times over the years and their food was awesome and they were always extremely hospitable– however the place was dusty & tired, and really kind of outdated. We liked seeing in Cabo Diablo the full, attended and patronized bar(Mia’s bar was always empty, and unattended) updated with nice flat screen tvs, pool table was cool, and the newer open seating area in the back looked nice– I liked that the windows were clear/unblocked as well. It reminded me of a mini Casa Orozco– the ambiance– which I liked. The other huge improvement is the Hours of operation– open past 8 now– yay! Get home and food was great– the only demerit is that I ordered mole sauce and got red enchilada sauce– but it was still really good & hit the spot. Husband loved his super burrito too. We’ll be back soon! Looking forward to the new & improved menu, and a sit down meal or hanging at the bar.

I think this place is a good addition to Brentwood. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and it definitely has a cool edge. I have been there three times; twice with a friend and once with my wife. They like it as well. The owner and staff are approachable and they care about quality and service. My burrito was good, the alcohol selection is wide and we did not overpay. We shot a game of pool, sat at the bar and got to know Mike and Jay. The owner, Mike, clearly invested money, energy and time into remodeling Mia’s(risky business). Every time I’ve been there, I’ve overheard them talk about training and new ideas. I’m happy for these guys and I plan on being a regular.

I chose this venue to have a family get together in celebration of my 2 daughters’ graduation and promotion from LMC to their respective 4 year universities. I chose this locale because of it’s convenient location and prior experience when it was Mia’s. The owner Mike was very polite and helpful in getting a buffet-style menu for my family(to keep the cost down). Prior to that however, I had attempted to email Mike the list of food I was interested in — but the email on the menu was not a good email address and when I called the restaurant to try and get a hold of him, a male host answered. All I can say about this guy was that he seemed painfully inexperienced and just didn’t have answers or suggestions for me when I asked for a better email address. He didn’t even ask me if he could take a message for Mike. I eventually suggested leaving a message but I doubt it was delivered. Clearly this is bad for business. The day of the dinner arrived and our waitresses were polite, professional and attentive. I had asked for a pitcher of their house margarita which they proceeded to bring out in 2 pitchers because«they didn’t have the right sized one so they used 2 smaller ones» and when we asked for a pitcher of soda, we were told they only had can sodas. Okay… no biggie. Next thing I know our waitress comes along ready to take orders armed with the list of food I had requested for the buffet. This was not at all what I was expecting since my party had no clue what food was pre-ordered and therefore what their choices were. I really didn’t want to worry about this stuff the day of the dinner so I’m sorry to say I was a bit miffed and could not be flexible about it. Next thing I know a phone call was made, the owner showed up and a mad rush to set up a buffet ensued. I am a huge supporter of local businesses so yes, I would return here; just not with a larger party — maybe just a friend or two for drinks and grub. PRO: Pool Table was cool; family enjoyed it CON: Wish all the junk in the corner was cleared out… maybe put a plant there? or a curtain to hide the ladders? PRO: HUGETV screen for game night CON: Need shade to cover up the window for the glare — or you just can’t see a darn thing!

Glad I didn’t read the reviews before I decided to eat here. The staff was great and immediately told me that they had not officially opened. The food was great, drinks were great and the owner mike was very nice. Nice to have a locally owned cantina, where we can go to enjoy ourselves. Those of you who left bad reviews, the word idiots come to mind, but some people are only happy when they complain.

This place blows. Huge screen in the dining area totally took away from the old ambiance… The new crew didnt seem to get it… the whole place seemed like more of a wannabe sports bar and not the familiar family restaurant that everyone in the community wants
