Overall, I like this Aldi. I am here at least once a month, if not more. Its in a convenient location, takes me 5 – 10 minutes to get there from my home. The store is as clean as any Aldi I’ve ever seen, and is normally consistently stocked with the same items. Employees are helpful and the cashiers are friendly. And of course, the price is right. Well, usually. Went there with about a $ 12 budget recently to buy something for dinner and some laundry detergent. We picked up a package labeled«boneless wyngz,» which was supposed to be $ 4.99. It rang up closer to $ 6.99, so we returned to the location and showed an employee the sign. As it turned out, the $ 4.99 «boneless wyngz» were sold out, and these were in their place. Were this most retail establishments, they would have honored that price and then changed the tag.(If you’d come into my place of employment, for example, I would honor and then change it so it doesn’t happen again. Sometimes that’s all it takes to keep the customer happy.) But, though they pulled the tag off the shelf, they were not about to make that offer. We put our laundry detergent back on the shelf and left with nothing this visit. Again, I do like this Aldi. I will continue to shop there. But this experience kind of tarnished their track record with me. I will be more than happy to raise the rating I give them if my future visits show improvement.

Had not been to my local Aldi Store in years. WOW! What a change. Tremendous upgrade in quality. More service. And still the same excellent prices. I going to once again getting a big part of my basic shopping here at Aldi again.

Oh how I ma aging myself, but I remember when Aldi first opened on Woodson, decades before it moved to the new Rk Rd location. My Dad would give us $ 20 to go get a couple pizzas and mac n cheese for dinner(brick hard powder cheese that we’d hit each other with). He’d also have us get a bag of Peanut M&Ms and we’d get 2 packs of Toffifay. Aldi was on the street behind us, so being kids, we’d cut through the neighbors yard, they’d sometimes give us money to get them some groceries, then we’d cross through the glass filled creek and clamber through the auto yard. Back then, you’d just grab a cart, now you have to slip a quarter in to get a cart, then the lock would loosen and your cart will be free. You then put the cart back, slip the lock slot back in and your quarter reappears. I usually just give mine to the next person I see, its just a quarter and I feel like I’ve done a tiny good deed. Its nice when they say thank you rather than act like they deserve your doing for them. Yes, I am talking to the EBT card carrying cow with the Coach Purse, matching Coach wallet and Coach key ring, all inked up and wearing Sean John clothes(isn’t that a mens wear) and with fresh done nails that were a blinged out. She was white, and ugly and was not appreciative when I yelled«You’re welcome.» Just because your slumming it at the local Aldi doesn’t mean you have to loose your common decency. You can get your basic groceries, bread, milk, eggs, jam, crackers and such for far less than you’d pay at the bigger markets. You can get fresh fruits and veggies as well, but its a total hit and miss. They do have the best prices on bananas but they are, almost always, very green. The berries are always questionable. There is some fresh meat, I’ve seen ground beef and maybe chicken, but I rarely eat meat so I could not be more descriptive. There is frozen chicken breasts and fish filets like Mahi Mahi and the prices are quite good. There also the basic necessities such as paper products, toothpaste, deodorant and such. I do prefer a few of those things in name brand, so I can not comment on whether they are any good or not. There are also some bargain finds on various times throughout the year. I have seen pan sets, cookware. Toys, gift wrap, shirts, sweat pants, space heaters. It changes often, so if you see a tent one week and wait to buy it, they may be gone and replaced with a kids race car set. You can find some interesting items for gifts at Christmas, and the prices are always great. You will not get the top of the line items here, if you want that head to Schnucks or Dierburgs. But if you are pinching pennies or just don’t feel like paying $ 1.50 a gallon more for milk or .75 more for a basic loaf of wheat bread at the big brand store, than this is a great ALWAYS bring bags or you’ll have to find boxes and they are not great boxes. As the fronts are usually cut out for display purposes. If not, be prepared to pay for your bags and you have to bag your own stuff. But you have to do the same at Shop-N-Save.
