I had the #7 Fried shrimp plate with white rice and Mac salad. Food was good and came out fast.

L&L always have delicious food. I’m basing my rate from the experience we had today. The cook and cashier took their time helping, laughing and taking their order with a Spanish speaking lady in Spanish. Took them about 7−10minutes actually end their conversation, even though they saw us waiting patiently behind her. Our turn, no smile, made a mistake with our order, argued a few seconds with what we just order– apparently she knows our order better than we did. I asked for refund since she charge me and extra $ 4, rudely asked for my credit card back. Gave me the credit card receipt, I asked for the itemize reciept and rolled her eyes. Now this is what you call REVERSERACISM!!!

There is L&L and then there are L&L’s that are not the same. This location delivers your simple Hawaiian craving — island style barbecue, chicken katsu, spam musubi, saimin, kahlua pork and poke! Yes there are a number of L&L franchises around where we live but this is the best and that’s why we come here. The food is freshly cooked, not too oily fried. The service is friendly too.

Having been a loyal l&l fan for years this location let me down. Their cashier was rude by not making eye contact and she was very abrupt ice during our ordering asking if that’s all. The food was fresh and yummy but for some reason the bbq sauce here was different from other l&l locations

This L&L location pales in comparison to the Fullerton location. Spam Masubi’s were stuffed with rice with tiny slivers of spam. On Tuesday’s they change $ 1.25 per Spam Masubi unlike the $ 0.99 at the Fullerton locale. There is also an extra charge for any additional sauce. Besides Spam Masubi’s, oops I mean, the Rice Masubi’s with a small side of spam, we ordered a the Mini Chicken Katsu Plate. The entire meal fits in a small styrofoam container and costs around 7 dollars. The curry that we asked to come on the side was bland. I didn’t know if they served us curry or gravy at first. Good thing we didn’t need any extra sauce as that would’ve been an additional charge of $ 0.25 The lady’s working at the front were friendly but it doesn’t take away the fact that they skimp out on portions and nickle and dime you.

Good food, small portions, affordable, but nickel and dime you for just about everything. You want sauce? 25 cents! Suprised they don’t charge for napkins. If you want to use the restroom they tell you to hike your ass to Subway several restaurants down. I’ve been to a lot of L&L spots but this one was a bit disappointing.

I can’t help but think of my school days when I was back in Hawaii and I discovered box lunches, saimin at McDonald’s and, of course, L&L Drive In. For as long as I have been back on the mainland, I’ve seen so many«Hawaiian Barbecue» places, but none of them compare to the original, L&L. In fact, when someone asks me about a local HB restaurant, I inevitably say, «well, it’s not as good as L&L, but…» To that end, I must also say that not all L&L’s are created equal. The Brea location on Imperial is really good but the mall location in Puente Hills is so-so. So, unfortunately, you’re going to have to try out the place to see if it’s just like home. For me and my family, the food at this location tastes great and my 2 year old just loves the lumpia.(But so do all of us). If you want a really filling meal, skip the cabbage and macaroni and go with meat and rice.

L&L has expanded their menu offerings to healthy choices and ramen burger! I enjoy their BBQ meats and sometimes have a hard time deciding what meat I want to order. Luckily they offer mini portions. I was debating between something from their new healthy menu or a mini selection but went with the mini BBQ Chicken because I had a very little appetite that night. The mini came with a scoop of macaroni, rice, and BBQ chicken over a bed of lettuce. The chicken was grilled just right and the chicken was still favorful, tender, and juicy! There is also the option to go with no sides and 2 pieces of chicken. We were greeted right away and our order came out very fast. It is located in a large shopping plaza so it’s easy to find and because there are many stores, there is plenty of parking.

I love L&L’s katsu, but I ended up getting the ramen burger since it is one of those food trends that has eluded my until now. It is a little greasy, but I really enjoyed it. The ramen noodles are not dry and crunchy as i had thought and do maintain their bun like shape as you eat it and transforms to loose noodles in your mouth. It is a really fun texture trick on your taste buds!

Yes, I’m giving this place 5 stars… I base this on what might be their most simple dish… Spam, Eggs & Rice! Yes, I said spam, and yes, I do know what goes into making spam… What I will add though is that until you have tried it grilled or lightly fried on a bed of short grain rice with 2 over easy eggs, a touch of pepper and several splashes of sriracha, then you just have not lived! Try this at L&L and you will understand why the 5 stars! I will definitely be back!
