My husband and I use to go here daily when we lived in Brattleboro. Absolutely love their food and coffee. The staff is always friendly, quick and accurate. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and have yet to get something I don’t like. I’d recommend this place for a coffee date, to sit on the laptop and get some work done or grab lunch with friends.

We frequent this sandwich shop– they are consistent with superior customer service and order accuracy. Highly recommended!

I like this place… Even though its décor seems slightly out-of-place for downtown Brattleboro. You see, most everything downtown is semi-old, sort-of-artsy, and has a touch of character. This place bucks that trend by being kinda modern and somewhat sterile. Don’t get me wrong, like I said, I like this place. It’s just doesn’t have a super homey feel to it. Maybe it needs one of those fake fireplaces like Panera Bread or maybe a few intermediate walls to break up its large cavernous space. Eh it could be worse. It could be a Starbucks. It seems like a decent place to satisfy one’s hunger in Brattleboro. I only purchased a bagel and coffee, but they do offer sandwiches and breakfast. A look around the room showed that most customers were just like me, enjoying a simple snack and beverage. It’s also seems like a nice place to put in some serious laptop time. FYI, there’s seven other The Works scattered around northern New England. I’m guessing they’re all the same because I’ve walked by the one in Amherst and it looks just like this one.

I gave them 2 stars only because the super chicken sandwich was good but the service was lousy. I ordered at the register and waited 20 minutes for my sandwich and when I asked what was taking so long the girl running the grill ask if I had ordered from the register or at the grill and when I told her she said oh that’s why you’re supposed to tell us. How was I supposed to know that the register and the grill don’t talk to each other? 15 minutes later I had my sandwich with a here you go, and not even a sorry for your wait or the mix up just here you go. Too bad because the food was good.

I’d give a 6 star rating for their super chicken grilled panini if I could. For me, it was the perfect sandwich. Loved it. Price: $ 7.99 I was coming down the interstate and thought I’d check out Brattleboro. Nice little town. Parking was a dollar for 3 hours and 20 minutes in a nearby lot. If you’re driving by Brattleboro, I highly recommend«The Works» for their super chicken grilled panini sandwich. Main Street is nice too. Worth the visit.

Tried this .I am from out of town. Large menu. Probably best bagel I’ve had in a long time! Red raspberry breakfast cake was to die for! Will come here again next time I’m in VT

Came here for a quick lunch. The food was very good. The only thing I didn’t like was that they don’t have real eggs…:(

The latte was not bad. My friend said the coffee was okay, but not worth to buy their coffee beans. I give it 4 stars because of the comfy seating that it provides. Various tables, chairs, benches, sofa, etc. Pick whatever seating that fits your need and mood of the moment. A good hangout place!

Just came for the coffee, which was mediocre, nothing special. Menu looked decent. I must note that you need a 6 digit combo code to use the bathroom — one of the most obnoxious set-ups I have ever seen. Don’t bother though because the patrons of this place camp out in the bathroom forever.

Stopped in for some soup and got a rather bland and tasteless three bean chili that tasted like it came from a can. Asked to have it to stay and it was still served in a take out container. Blah.

So good to the max! I had the Chipotle Sweet Potato soup which had a nice kick to it, not really spicy either but delicious with the ROASTEDARTICHOKEPANINI that I dipped into it. So smooth, light and creamy! The roasted artichoke panini was so savory, with big slices of ARTICHOKE in it, and pesto with the right amount of cheese and spinach. The bread was a nice crunch, very well made. But you must have that Soup on the side to dunk it in. If you have a very Adventurous pallet for taste. All in all I def would come back here to try other good simple items they serve here. Service: was good, quick, and if you call in, you wouldn’t have to wait too long. I was very satisfied with everything I even saved half of the sandwich and left over soup for later! Quality eats at an affordable price is always a win!

I’m honestly very surprised they’ve got the stars they have. The wait staff was very rude, and snobby, and when I brought my salad back up front(it had a dead bug in it) they were very rude about that too

Popped in this morning for a quick breakfast and was greeted warmly. The staff at The Works is always friendly, and the food is always delicious. This morning I purchased a cheese bagel with chive cream cheese, and was not disappointed. The coffee I also bought was delicious as well. This is a great place to get a quick bite to eat or catch up with friends, and the dinning area has a ton on Vermont touches to it.

Looking for a place to have coffee in our exploration visit to downtown Brattleboro. I must say there are a number of choices all within feet of one another. That’s good for me, the consumer, so no one place is particularly crowded. We chose«The Works» and were very happy with our selection. Love the ambiance of rustic décor and tables that are spread out and not on top of one another. Nice touch. However, it was a nice day so we opted for seating outdoors. My date ordered coffee while I had chai. The chai hit the spot but what did it for me to get the 5 stars was the brownie we split. Oh wow! Not an ordinary brownie which would have been good. This was rich, moist, and ever so chocolately and sweet. More, I say! More!

Coffee is yum and so are the baked goods. I had a grilled panini with artichokes, pesto, and some other stuff in it that was DIVINE. But the sandwiches are pricey(though worth it!) so usually when I come here I grab a simple bagel and coffee and people watch while relaxing, or it’s great to meet here with friends and catch up on things, then go walk around downtown. It’s a comfortable spot with a great atmosphere and I always find the people who work here nice and helpful. One of things I wish was different was the closing time of 6pm. 8 would be dandy. I’m sure they have their reasons, I don’t really mind it but sometimes you want to go be there for the relaxing atmosphere and realize you’re too late in the day ;) but also, being able to come in at 6am is awesome! So it balances out.

Not impressed. We stopped in here one morning for breakfast. We both decided on egg sandwiches. I was totally ignored by the girl waiting on us and she then decided to just make my husband his sandwich. Where’s mine? Oh, well, she said I didn’t order anything. Ok then. So you think she’d then ask me what I wanted. No, she turned her back and moved on to someone else. After seeing that they microwave their eggs for the sandwiches, I suppose it is a good thing she decided to ignore my presence. I’m not a fan of microwaved rubbery eggs, Anyhow, I settled on a chocolate chip muffin. Not the greatest muffin to be had, however it was enough to settle my hungry stomach. The egg sandwich? He said it wasn’t very good. A bit overpriced and not the highest of quality. Customer service is a bit lacking.

After being rejected from nearby Elliot Street Café(see review), my boyfriend and I settled on this for breakfast. It’s like a very poor man’s Panera Bread. On the outside, it looks quaint and it is bustling with locals, but on the inside, it’s meh. The menu is boring. It’s overpriced. I spent nearly $ 14 dollars for two miniscule Huevo wraps that took a decade to make and two mid-grade coffee. Honestly, both my wallet and I would have been happier at a Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, and even at a Friendly’s with my buy-one-get-one free breakfast coupon. The service is really slow and disorganized. They were blaming that they were«extremely short staffed.» I say extremely poor management on Sunday!

I for one won’t complain about the staff, as seems to be a common thread among past reviews. In my opinion, they were trying their best to get our food to us in a timely manner, despite being«short staffed» as one of the workers claimed. More of a mismanagement issue than an employee issue, I guess. Anyway, this place was good. Not great, just good. I had a nice breakfast wrap, but I thought it could have been more exciting than just ham, eggs, cheese, and salsa, the standard lineup for the«huevos hamcheros wrap.» In fact, I ordered red onions with my wrap — none were to be found. And the eggs — freshly cracked? skillet cooked? Try MICROWAVEDINTUPPERWARE. Again, the overall result was pretty good, but it’s kind of disappointing to see your eggs prepared in a manner ordinarily seen at Subway, McDonalds, and convenience stores… The nicest feature is the seating area. Capacious, comfortable, relaxing. Lots of easy chairs to park your butt. We’d have stayed longer, but we had to hit the road… Oh, and the coffee lids suck. Sounds like a minor complaint, but it sure isn’t when you’ve got 100 miles of I-91 and I-84 ahead of ya… *spills everywhere*

I also agree with«Lets Be Real» from earlier this month! On our way back from Vermont, we decided to stop in Brattelboro to check it out. Got hungry, and as we were walking on Main Street, I asked a local where can we go for lunch, and she pointed north, that a way«The Works». I said thanks, as she crossed the road through traffic on a beautiful Friday afternoon. We parked in back of the restaurant, because there were very little if any parking spaces left on a busy Friday afternoon! Luckily, we found a spot, but had to pay for this per hour. but at least we were near bookstores, food, shops, retail etc… You may enter the store from the back or front. depending on your location. There is a sign hanging that lets everyone know where the line to order forms. For beginners, you may wanna check out their large menu first before you order because you don’t wanna miss their freshly brewed Ice Coffee!!! or some fresh clam & corn chowder. The service was excellent & friendly, despite a long line. Nice to know, people here love their jobs to a point, and show it on their face & actions. I was happy that breakfast is always served, partly because of a growing trend in New England. So, she made me a spinach wrapped egg western. Not too bad! It was nicely wrapped and full of yummy fresh stuff!!! Definitely, check out The Works, whether you are looking for a safe roomy place for lunch or breakfast. You will not be dissapointed, because the price was right!

Since my favorite restaurant the Riverview Café closed down, we searched the area for some place new to try. Stopped in for a quick bite while doing some window shopping and traveling. The spinach salad was delicious, those spiced nuts it came with were super tasty. The maple walnut blondie was excellent as well. Large space, cool décor, definitely worth stopping in!
