It took us a week in Branson to try this place. We were missing out! Atmosphere is fun. Food is SO yummy. I let the negative reviews sway our decision at first until we just decided to chance it. I suppose everyone can have off days, but the food/service/atmosphere were all wonderful when we were there! Go try it!

We visited Mel’s Hard Luck Dinner at around 6p on a Sunday. It was a great time because it wasn’t terribly busy and we didn’t have to beg for our servers attention. There are at least 4 servers on at a time and they take turns signing and they’ll even do songs together. Our server was Alana and our son fell in love with her she sang with him. Alana signed a pamphlet for him without being asked and we decided to purchase her Disney songs album and she signed that for him as well when asked.

We went here for lunch because it sounded like so much fun! The singing servers are pretty good. They sang some old chestnuts that my kids had never heard of(but still enjoyed). They all had their CD’s available for purchase, in case one really stood out. The food was the real let-down here. We got burgers and fries, a chicken sandwich and the kids got hot dogs. The fries were all cold and soggy. The chicken sandwich was ok. I liked that they served it on a wheat roll. The burger was ok. Nothing was bad(except cold fries, I guess), but there was nothing to write home about either.

One of the best burgers I’ve had in the last 2,000 years or so. Wait staff doubles as the entertainment and did a great job of getting the whole family involved. Really talented. Not sure if Mel Vera or Flo would of felt comfortable there, but Im sure they would of enjoyed the good food. I’d definitely establish this as one of those things you must do every time you make it to Branson. Father in law saw it on «Where the locals eat». If it’s good enough for those who call Branson home, it’s gotta be good.

We just moved to Branson and were excited to take our daughter to eat here. We got as far as the«wait to be seated» sign. We were greeted twice by 2 different waitresses who both told us someone would be right with us. Minutes passed, no one ever came. We left.

This place was great! The food was on point, and the singing servers were very entertaining. We got the banana split and could have easily shared it with another two couples.

The kids will love this diner with singing wait staff! The staff each have their own style and take turns with the entertainment. You’re guaranteed to find someone you’ll love. Most have a CD available for purchase in the gift shop. My husband had the chili-cheeseburger. It was FANTASTIC! The kids chose the cheeseburger with fries and the spaghetti with a meatball. Both left very happy with their selection. We had a coupon from«The Flavor of Branson» book that is free at many stands — 15% off. It was good entertainment and a reasonable lunch.

This was good fun. The food is decent – nothing to rave about, but to be sung to by your wait staff is a fun experience. My children loved it, especially the waitress who sang Disney tunes.(And honestly, I was singing along with her, too…) I appreciate that she didn’t sing a Frozen song(despite my son begging!) If you are tired of boring meals, spice it up with a little song and soup at Mel’s!

Wow! So happy we came. Just loads of fun. Brought our 7 yr old grand daughter. We enjoyed the place as much as she did. Came at 7 pm on a Wednesday night. Line nearly out the door but only waited a few minutes. Food and entertainment and price all good.

Welcome to the show folks! This restaurant is a trip back in time, with the fantastic 50s décor and relative memorabilia on the walls creates an awesome atmosphere. The pot-roast plate is piled high with incredibly tender meat, flavorful veggies, and creamy mashed potatoes. All covered in a dark gravy. If you aren’t super fond of gravy I recommend asking for light gravy as the plate is covered in it. The burger was flavorful and juicy, cooked just right and the fries are exceptionally crispy and just right for this classic American fare. The entertainment is nice, as the wait staff sings periodically, adding to the fun. Overall it’s a great experience for everyone to enjoy. Don’t forget to order a shake, it is a lot though so I suggest sharing if you want to finish all your food and a shake. The sweet tea is to die for! Home Run!

Their website said they were open until 9. When we showed up at 8:08 they had the door locked and wouldn’t let us in. When I called in they said they started locking the door at 8 a couple months ago but hadn’t updated any of their business listings or website. The owner clearly doesn’t understand how to run a business and wasted my family’s time. I’ll never come back to this place

Mels was reccomended to me byu friends. PLUSHAD A COUPON! hmmm i had the double cheeseburger. HUGE! But just tasted funky like your cafeteria burger. I would never get it again. The desert icecream on top of the cobbler was good, but thats about it. The cobbler had to come from the grocery store in the frozen section. GROSS! NOTHOMEMADEFORSURE! You go to MELS for the ambiance the waiters and waitresses. AMAZINGWONDERFUL! i could sit there all night and listen to them! The food NO nope not again. Icecream yeah ok.

This is a fun place, this is where waiters are up coming or unemployed singers trying to make it. So guess what, they sing, each waiter gets to sing their flavs… This is definitely a diner, the food was good but it was pricey… it was pretty plain, which is what truck food is to me. None special except for the staff… The appetizers were okay, we had sweet potato fries and jalapeño poppers. Then had the burgers, cooked correctly but nothen great. Dessert was good… I guess the servings were very large, which sort of covered the higher prices, then again this is Branson. The music entertainment was fun and talented, the atmosphere was good, the location was good and there was a good crowd. The serving size, the average flavors and the high prices made this a weak three star, the employees held the three star…

Ate there on our latest trip to branson. The food is pretty good but the bbq is lacking so skip it. The shakes are huge and one would feed 3 – 4 people. And here is something lacking in most branson restaurants. The actually have good servers. It’s the place to get a good diner meal and a serenade.

Absolutely disgusting meal. They advertise extra crispy bacon on their BLT’s, but what they served was the fattiest and soggiest lump of fat I’ve ever seen. The place is crowded, hot, and noisy. I can’t believe anyone gives this place more than one star.

Really fun place with excellent staff. We really enjoyed our lunch here. The wait staff was fantastic and their singing was very entertaining. There are very talented people working here and you can tell they enjoy it. I had the chicken salad croissant. It was pretty good. A little dry but all in all not too bad. My wife really enjoyed the Ruben and the kids had the burger and corn dog bites. Typical children’s fare. The ice team was a huge hit to end the meal and everyone left full and entertained. We have yet to find a restaurant in Branson that was good enough to warrant a return visit the next trip but this is the exception. We will be back next time we are in town.

The good: Very friendly servers that also sing. The bad: 5 of us ordered completely different meals & only one was good enough to eat. That being said, if you must come here, order the Chicken Salad Croissant.(The onion rings seem to be a big hit with other Unilocalers but we didn’t order them.) In conclusion, it’s a gimmick place that your kids should enjoy but that anyone with discerning taste buds should avoid.

I’m trying to understand why anyone would give this place 3 stars or more. The food is terrible. Wait staff is friendly and maybe its the singing concept that people like but if you want to have a good meal and listen to music go somewhere else and take your iPod. –I had the pretzel burger: $ 12 and it was over cooked and pretzel bread was smashed. I asked for cheddar and got a mostly shredded blend cheese that goes on baked potatoes. most of cheese was not melted and still cold. I gave it a shot anyway. Ended up sending it back after tasting it. –My daughter ordered cheeseburger with fries. «Daddy this tastes like a McDonalds burger». –Daughter’s friend ordered chicken wrap: «Chicken tasted stale and dirty.» –My wife said her chicken salad croissant sandwich was good but the chips that came with it tasted strange. Again, not understanding the draw here.
