This restaurant is currently closed for business. We went there on Sunday 5÷17÷2015 and the doors were closed, and it appeared that there were some type on construction going on.

Great selection of burgers and brews. Fun atmosphere; has the feel of a brewery. Staff was attentive throughout the meal. Arrived in a snowstorm and they offered updates regarding the weather outside while keeping their parking lot in decent condition. I intend to go back.

My organic burger on a gluten free bun was out of this world! Cooked exactly medium rare, no question. They went out of their way to make sure my whole meal was gluten free. The wait-staff and manager were super friendly also. The thing I would change is the location– not a lot to do in that area after dinner. — and the décor is spare rather than inviting and warm. I think it would be better for a group of friends or a large family, or watching a game, rather than a cozy dinner for two.

I’ll give SBC5 stars since we have been there at least 6 or more times and every time has been extremely satisfying. They have third own brewery(great beer) and the food has been delicious every time as well. The calamari, cheese quesadilla, pizza, burgers, and wraps are all worth trying! Love going here in the summer, the outside seating is wonderful!

Very nice environment but that was all. Well the girl that was at the front desk was very informative and made sure we received service. Other than that, service was horrible. I ordered a flight of beers and it took the bartender 10 minutes to serve me. I would understand if the restaurant was busy but it wasn’t !

We ordered the Cajun sandwich and Penne Rustica. The sandwich used to have real chicken but it was cold cuts in a wrap. The penne was undercooked and the artichoke, tomatoes, and unidentified other vegetables where soggy and bland. We had nachos as an appetizer and it was burnt and the cheese was lumped into the middle. Topped with a couple of black beans, hot peppers and tomatoes. Everything was sloppy. The waitress was walking around with a coffee cup. The manager did stop by the table to ask why we were finished so soon but he was singing frank Sinatra at the top of his lungs and we just wanted to leave. This restaurant has gone down hill over the years. The food was so much better a few years ago and the service was better.

I liked the laid-back atmosphere when I visited(my party of 3 sat at the bar and there was plenty of room mid-afternoon on a Saturday). The bartender/server was very nice and attentive but didn’t hover. I ordered the lamb burger on a gluten free roll with mixed greens and it was amazing. The lamb was cooked perfectly and was tender, juicy and not gamey at all. The toppings were well matched and added to the flavor instead of overwhelming the burger. The mixed greens were fresh and the dressing was on the side, just as I had ordered. My friends ordered the truffle fries and I was lucky enough to steal a few. They were incredibly delicious! The only reason that I did not rate this place more highly(although I would’ve liked to give 3.5 stars) is because the beers are sub-par. We ordered flights so we got to try them all and they were all sadly underwhelming. The«porter» was not even a true porter, which really offended my inner beer snob. But I would probably go again to eat… and order someone else’s beer.

Out for a cruise and felt like stopping for a beer and an appetizer, ive never been here before and now I know why. Its a sunday afternoon and football is on, so im guessing a decent crowd should await me. Boy was I wrong. Two people at the bar, two or three tables in the dining room. So we sit at the bar. I decided on a Yeungling lager which came back to Connecticut just last week after a long hiatus. Ordered the beer and went to use tge restroom which was clean but had an atrocious odor. Came back to find out they were out of the beer I had been craving, not a huge deal but as he is removing the tap handle(which you normally do when a keg is empty) he says oh It kicked yesterday and I forgot to take it off. Strike 1. So we decided on two appetizers. Bruchetta with beans and sausage, and the Singapore chicken wings. After about ten minutes the bar tender comes to us and says«I forgot, we are out of bone in wings. Would you like boneless instead?» Yeah thats fine. Stike 2. So now im thinking poor management because of ordering. The beer I understand, people have clamored for Yeungling since they heard it was making its return but to run out of chicken wings in an empty bar on Sunday during NFL season is pretty inexcusable and mind you its only 6pm. So 20 more minutes and the food arrives Bruchetta looks good. Boneless wings doused in hot sauce which we ordered Singapore sweet sauce. There were those magic words again. «I forgot» and ill bring them right out. 15 minutes later. The bruchetta was very good. Excellent actually. The wings when corrected were not bad but were average at best. Sauce too thin, overly soy sauce taste without much sweet. Needless to say was not impressed. He was a friendly bar tender, nice kid but really I see why they were empty. Running out of food and featured beer is unacceptable and I’ve been doing it for 20 years and should know. As im driving away im thinking to myself… maybe its just a slow Sunday evening, that is until I drive by Eli’s restaurant and bar a couple doors down and their parking lot and bar are jam packed. Too bad SBC

This is the prime example of why Unilocal needs half stars. SBC is more than 3, but can’t quite deserve a 4 — at least not this location. Food is solid, I’ve always enjoyed what I’ve ordered. I stick to basic bar fare, like fries and buffalo wings. The drinks are strong, and the bartenders have always been attentive. They offer different nights, some geared towards families, other nights like trivia and live music. Back in my hay day of bar hopping, this was always a stop at some point on a Saturday. So warning, be out by 8 on Saturday. This location does offer a patio, and while I appreciate outdoor dining on a beautiful night as much as anyone, the scenery of Branford Hill(Route 1) just doesn’t do it for me. I have no desire to chow down on my burger and watch a big rig and two Honda Civics race by. I recommended eating indoors where the ambiance is more industrial brewery. The location is easy to get too, but you’re on the shoreline there had to be better options for prime real estate on the water? Anyways. It’s a decent option. It’s a small chain, I favor the Milford location just based on appearances but have never left here disappointed with food or drinks.

I know 5 o’clock on a Sunday may seem like an odd time, but we were surprised at the lack of patrons at sbc since this particular Sunday was the one before Labor Day. We got in and were greeted by a friendly bartender. We sat at the bar and saw there were 8 tap handles belonging to the sbc brewery. However, none of the menus or drink lists offered any explanation of the beers and the bartender didn’t go into any detail. So, we guessed based on the tap handle and name of the beer. I had an octoberfest which was really more of a scotch ale, and my fiancé had a bitter beer that wasn’t bitter. Feeling peckish, we were observing pizzas that had been delivered to other patrons. Although they smelled good, I saw the couple next to us had an undercooked dough and left the majority behind. Appetite lost. Additionally, an events calendar promised a magician. I wasn’t looking forward to a magician but as we drank our one round of beers, all other patrons left and I sorta wanted some entertainment. Oh, and the power shut off for a few seconds once we ordered our round although no other businesses on the street seemed to lose power. Perhaps we should have taken that as a sign…

I love sitting at the bar in this location, with the huge windows it feels nice and open. The bartenders are always nice and friendly. The reason I felt moved to write a review is because this location has a VEGAN burger. It’s potato filled and essentially tastes like a samosa in a hamburger bun. And it’s really good! I hope it stays on the menu, I think this is the only location that has it. I wish they played the sound for games in the bar because then it’d be a great spot to watch sports.

Came here for lunch. Immediately seated. Great service and food. I got the Cobb salad(super good) with blackened chicken(yes!) with the white balsamic honey dressing(ok) and my friend got the Cesar salad(average) and the margarita pizza(really good). Will be back to try the beers.

So sad to see out Jaime resign. Best bartender ever. Now to find another regular spot where they know your name and drink when you walk in the door. Insert sad face here. … I hope they hire done kick ass bartenders or this place will slow fins really quick. The only food with trying are the steak tips! Management– don’t screw this one up

The food wasn’t bad, but our experience was. We got right in, it wasn’t overly busy or anything, but it took almost an hour to get our 2 burgers. The burgers were good, but the wait left us a little aggravated. After I paid the check and left a tip I stepped out to use the restroom. The waiter then took this opportunity to hit on my girlfriend while I wasn’t there. She told me after we walked out, otherwise I would have spoken to the manager. Needless to say, we will not be going back there again.

Standard bar food, beer that’s ‘meh’ and horrendous service. I always want to support local as much as possible, and although this is a chain, at least it’s a microbrew, but it’s hard for me to support this one. Sat at the bar — took me 20 minutes just to order a beer… bartender spent most of her time in the kitchen on the other side of the restaurant — which is strange. I sampled several of the beers — none tasted better than your average, cheaper national brand.

I am surprised how many bad reviews this place has… I probably wouldn’t have picked it based on them but it was the perfect meeting point for my parents coming from NH. Well thankfully I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here last weekend! Came in around noon and the place was empty. As we were eating more people started coming in and filling up the bar area– my guess is to watch the football games. The waitress was very nice and attentive, she came over several times and refilled our drinks. I had the steak tip appetizer and sweet potato fries for lunch and I literally ate the entire thing. The pepper aioli that came with the steak was delicious. The BF had the bistro burger and said it was tasty also. I didn’t try any beer but my step-dad liked the one he had. The place is huge so I’d imagine there isn’t usually a wait when you get here but who knows. The décor is pretty«brewery like» but nice. Overall it was a good lunch and I would recommend it to anyone passing through.

Yes it’s a chain, but it’s at least local, so there’s that. I’m not a beer snob or even really a fan of beer, so I can’t particularly remark on any of that, but the white sangria was fantastic.(OMNOMMOSCATO). My boyfriend(ahem, fiancé… whatevs, still getting used to calling him that… did I mention we visited later in the day after we got engaged? Yeah…) got something called the Swedish Fish, which was quite sweet, but definitely tasted like Swedish Fish. As for the food, a friend had described their offerings as «nothing special but they do them well.» I’d agree with that statement wholeheartedly Typical pub-type food, but I thought it was really good. I got the mashed potato pizza, which was delicious. Thin crust, and served on a baking sheet in the manner of Pepe’s(not saying it holds a candle to them, but it’s Pepe’s style for sure.) BF/Fiancé got a Black and Blue burger which he devoured.(I took a bite and thought it was good.) Our service was good — but then again, we came in the middle of a snow storm so it was pretty empty.(Mind you this was 5 or so on a Saturday night). Overall if I’m in the area I’ll be back — and I wouldn’t be opposed to visiting any of the other locations if I’m around them either.

If you’ve got more tattoos than teeth, you will be right at home here… Horrid flat warm beer and slow service with a scowl… What’s not to love? Food might be the bright spot if you can stomach the sideways flat brim still sticker on hat wearing douche nozzles that frequent this fake brewery. Must be a young scum of the earth meet up joint.
