This is my go-to place for sushi! Every thing is fresh and you never have to wait long for your meal! I have never had a bad meal here! Super nice staff and atmosphere too! I go almost every week & the only negative thing is that they close at 230 and then re open again at a later time.

Wow this place has really gone down hill. Service is continually slow. Whether it’s lunch or dinner prepare to clear your schedule. Our server put in the wrong order and immediately went to correct the order. However after waiting 20 minutes with no sushi while my husband tried to eat as slow as he could I gave up. The manager never came to our table to apologize. The only explanation offered was«the kitchen got slammed». Our server offered to comp my sushi but after waiting so long plus my husband was already finished it, wasn’t worth it even if it was free. My husband got up told our server to cancel my order and asked for the bill. That took another 10 minutes. We paid for my husband’s roll and left. I’m on the hunt for a new spot because I’ve been burned for the last time here. I will gladly take my business elsewhere.

Stopped in for a late lunch. The server was super polite. I thought the lunch special of 3 rolls for $ 13 was a great deal. Everything tasted great! I just went inside to use the restroom and thought it was rather dark but we sat outside so it didn’t bother me. I would eat there again for sure. Oh you also get a choice of Miso or another soup and a small salad for the lunch deal.

Excellent food! Double J is my favorite! They have very great service. I would go more often if they had the option for brown rice.

Vegetables are already old and the avocado in their roll is about to go bad and they still serve it.

I really like this restaurant! I have been here several times for sushi. Lately, I have tried many things off their menu, but my favorite item is the Volcano Chicken by far! It has a good combination of sweet and sour, with a good amount of spicy. It was the best deep fried chicken I ever had. Serving on the hot iron plate and yes it’s still hot! It came with a delicious sweet and sour sauce and a cup of rice. The ice tea was also fresh and tasty. The restaurant is always clean, and I like the soft, romantic lighting. The service has always been phenomenal. They were so friendly and helpful. I definitely recommended!

I’ve been here many times before. Normally I’d give them four stars. I was always provided excellent customer service and good sized rolls. I would usually order their firecracker or florida roll. Tonight, I decided to order to go and switch it up a bit. I ordered the tsunami wave(has crab, shrimp, and salmon) which is a specialty roll. I also ordered a Japanese bagel roll. The person who took my order over the phone repeated it back to me, so i knew he got the order correctly with my minor modification of leaving out the asparagus in the tsunami roll. All together, this was around $ 18. The order would be ready in fifteen minutes… Not bad at all. When i received the order, I thought it was weird that the bag was extremely light. While at a red light, I opened it and turned one of the rolls over and saw it was only crab inside. I decided to call tsunami sushi on the way home and told them of my concern. I overheard the server asking the sushi chef who made my order what he put inside. I even spoke with the manager. The manager said the three fishes were separated. Only 2 pieces per fish. I knew of some places that did that so I apologized for my confusion. I just didn’t understand why a specialty would be the size of a regular roll on their menu. When I got home, I turned the apparant tsunami wave roll over. All crab. No other fish inside. I am really disappointed and it makes me not want to go back again. I understand mistakes happen since I used to work at a sushi restaurant myself, but I wish I wasn’t lied to or they at least owned up to the mistake or took off $ 5 for the mistake. At this point, calling them again, to perhaps be lied to again is just not worth the trouble.

The waiter did not know anything about the dishes. He cannot answer any questions. He was nice but very annoying. The food was awful. I ordered the tuna tartar. I got soup. Tuna swam in a very hot sauce a lot of sauce. Other dishes also were not good. I will never eat here again!

As the saying goes, first impressions last. After passing by this sushi joint a lot of times, ive finally tried it tonight. It wasnt a really good experience for me. Bad points first before the good. First, maybe because it was a Friday night thats why it took us a while to be seated, not too big of a deal. So I would suggest not coming in on a Friday night. Second, when it comes to ordering food, you must understand that customers who had already waited to be seated are hungry. So better make up on the service. We waited for like 15mins for our orders to be taken(despite the hand wavering– a call for attention). Third, more so another 20 mins or so for our rolls to come out! Hungry turned into Hangry! I appreciated their apology saying the kitchen was behind on orders. The thing is, shouldnt they prepared on a Friday night? Anyway, we ordered 5 rolls. Cant say they’re the best cos ive had way better and tastier ones. The place is nice though, spacious and neat. The price of the rolls are good enough. In conclusion, service was not exceptional(or maybe its just our server) compared to similar joints and as a sushi lover, there was nothing too special and unique about the rolls.

While reviewing my «reviews» I realized I totally left Tsunami out! Well let me tell you. We looove sushi, and we’ve had great sushi in Brandon, Tampa and Sarasota and Tsunami is my favorite for many reasons! I’ve had good sushi at all the places we’ve visited however Tsunami has it all going for them… I love their open atmosphere and the prep station at the forefront! I love the courteous staff and the laid back feel. I love every sushi roll lol not exaggerating and I especially love their hibachi… Steak is my favorite(but that applies to me in any establishment) because of the location, prices, atmosphere and huge variety Tsunami is our go to Sushi spot, and there is a bar in same plaza as well as a Cold Stone, everything you need for an excellent night all in one area! Go check it out!!!

Inventive, well-crafted sushi rolls and a cozy little nook to enjoy them in. I’ve tried quite a few maki here but the Hurricane Roll stands out among them. Saki and fried ice cream were highly satisfying. The specials are worth taking advantage of, but these magnitude 9.0 rolls are worth the price either way.

After a couple of visits, I think I can safely say this is a consistently good sushi spot. There is nothing spectacular about the sushi, but the price has my coming in as a regular now. The hibachi is good, the BBQ squid is delicious, and add mentioned before, all the sushi I’ve tried has been good. The service every time I’ve visited had been stellar. The dining area is nice and neat; it’s a very comfortable atmosphere. This place is casual, but romantic enough for a date night, and even good for a family outing. They are not reinventing sushi here. Everything is pretty standard, with a few unique Tsunami twists here and there. I’m giving 4 stars because it’s a well run restaurant, with good food and service, and great prices. I haven’t had a bad experience yet, and I can’t think of anything to complain about.

Being a fan of sushi and sashimi, this place was in a word, underwhelming. The place was nice and can’t complain about the service, but overpriced to say the least. If you’re going to charge $ 13 for the hell rolls then please bring out more than 8 pieces. The rolls themselves were not bad but when ordering something like the Philadelphia rolls, it looked like the chefs made it for a children’s portion. We went on their ladies night special and the special turned out to be a dollar per roll on certain nigiri and sashimi rolls that were also tiny pieces. The green iced tea was good and nice that it was unlimited refills. So to cap it off, if your starving and have not eaten, I recommend eating something little first unless you wanna spend $ 50 easily and still end up hungry. I would try out other sushi places first.

Stopped in for a quick and early lunch. No hostess present just sat at sushi bar, server was fast drink came fast and order was placed. Ordered two sushi rolls of course my favorite anywhere I go the volcano and another roll called firecracker or something of that sort. This place was empty and it was probably because it was 11:15am when I stopped in to eat. The place is decent for an early lunch ambience, not to loud so I could take business calls throughout. They don’t offer wifi which is huge anywhere I go, if they did no one said anything about it when I was there to eat. Sushi was great and service was too. I will be back again and I recommend you visit.

Very good soups and sushi, always fresh. Friendly staff. I like to go there with my husband for sushi(volcano is our favorite) in a calm setting.

I went here once before about five years ago. I was less than impressed then, but I decided to give it another chance. From the outset, the hostess was absent for quite a while and then took quite a bit to seat us. The restaurant wasn’t busy, so I am not sure what the deal was. However, that is really the only negative part of dining. The wait staff was there when needed, and not when not, as it should be. The miso soup was a bit on the bland side, but still good. We had the Pumpkin Pumpkin, Sesame Tuna, Sumo, and Tiger roll. They were all quite good. The cost was a bit, but just a bit, lower than average for the quality. So, my opinion of Tsunami has changed from my previous visit so long ago. Overall, I would go back in the future, and I would recommend dining in if you are wanting to try a new sushi joint.

I’ve been here a few times just for sushi but tonight I tried their tofu hibachi and I am in love. The food was seasoned to perfection. I’ve never had tofu this good in my life. I am very impressed with this meal. It did not take long for the food to come out when I ordered either. I HIGHLY recommend this spot to anyone who loves Japanese cuisine(or try it for the first time).

I had a pretty good experience overall. The service was very friendly and fast. The sushi was very tasty. We had the Hell roll, spicy tuna and another roll I can’t remember the name of that was equally good. The Hell roll is always my favorite here as I really like spicy food, but don’t take my word for it. Try it out.
