Lee Roy Selmon’s

Met friends for dinner here last night. I ordered the rib 2 way platter. The bbq ribs had so much fat on it that it was inedible. The dry rub on the other was so salty and heavily seasoned was hard to choke down. The sweet potatoes were good. Service was mediocre. Huge disappointment. I need to stick to the one on my side of town by Int’l Plaza.

Went there with a group of friends, and nobody had any issues with their food. Everything came out timely and was as ordered. Nobody complained about their food. The buffalo dip would have been better with ranch and a hotter buffalo sauce. Our waitress was slow and absent minded.

John (manager) and the waitress (Amanda) did a very fine job on serving me and my family! I will always recommend this place if your looking for great food and great service for less!!!

We go here just about every other Sunday for game day! They always have all the football games on and there’s a mixture of fans. If you want any game on the staff is more than happy to put it on. Their service is wonderful. They are friendly, quick, and always there when you need something. Sunday’s have any awesome happy hour menu for drinks and beer tubes. During the week from 3 – 6 pm you can get their wings for 5 bucks! They are hands down the best wings I have ever had. They are smoked, grilled, and dry rubbed. I would highly recommend this restaurant for happy hour!

I would say everything we had here was average. I had sweet heat chicken with mac and cheese. The chicken was pretty oily and flavorless, except for one section that had some sweeter seasoning on it… that part was pretty good. The mac and cheese was obviously mass produced/​frozen reheated and also quite flavorless. More like buttered noodles. My dining companion had chicken and waffles. He said the waffles seemed like they were microwaved — very chewy and not fresh. He loved the accompanying cinnamon butter. His chicken was just like mine, except mine was a chicken breast and his was tenders.
Service was good — out server, Kat, was friendly and attentive, and kept our drinks filled. Meals were out fast and she was on the ball. Hot towels afterwards were a nice touch.
Pretty average experience. I don’t know that we would come back, particularly with all the options in this area (Mimi’s has awesome chicken and waffles, FYI).

My friend wanted to go out for dinner, I never pass up a dinner date! She suggested Lee Roy Selmon because her tastebuds screamed for their cheese grits and buffalo wings. I had only been to LRS once before and didn’t think it was anything to write home to mom. Well after my meal I should have slapped myself for not coming sooner!
I started off with a Strawberry Basil Martini it
was mixed just right (thumbs up to the bartender)
We ordered a 6 count of Selmon wings, they were seasoned and grilled to perfection… I don’t know why we just ordered 6… BUT the kitchen shorted us a wing and our server brought 4 extra wings out SCORE!!!
For the main dish I ordered the sweet fried chicken dinner with a side of smashed potatoes and mushroom gravy. The crispy, golden chicken was the
and they give you a sweet side of dipping sauce. My friend ordered the sausage, shrimp and grits. It looked tasty and my thoughts were right! I sampled a bit and it was amazing especially the grits which would be something to write home about!
And best of all Kristi was a great server, she polite and attentive!
The ONLY gripe (but not really) is this location should mimic it’s sister location and have $ 5 appetizers after 9pm… the Brandon location only offers this deal from 3P to 6P… anywho the food was still A-​M-​A-​Z-​I-​N-​G!!! I will be back!

The steak came out well under cooked so I sent it back, then came out well done, guess they don’t know medium here. I was starving so I took it. The fries were terrible so I changed to the the cheese grits and they were awesome. Service was slow but that’s ok. Tammy had the ribs and brisket which was awesome she had a good experience.

Worst place ever. Daughter wanted to try, Tampa location always great and ate there often. Walked in at 11:30am. No host and waited. Was sat at a table with the table finish as rough as sandpaper. App was cold and looked nothing like the picture. Brisket sandwich was terrible and just ate the meat. Daughter had a decent meal. I feel there was mo attentiveness to my needs, always looking around for server and had to ask. Had to ask for bill three times. Manager was the last one i asked. Told him I would never come back. Offered and gave discount but I paid more than bill because that’s not what it’s about. These people need to learn what good service looks like.

It won’t show up in the stats, but I’m upping these guys to 3.5 stars.
I gave them another chance tonight by trying their meatloaf, to-​go. It was baked, sliced, glazed with barbecue sauce, and grilled a bit. Pretty darn good.

I love the food, help and décor. A definite frequent stop. The pulled pork is awesome

I usually hear great reviews so I guess I caught them on a bad night. First off, they messed up our order of the nachos, then I had to wait forever and a day for a refill on water, THEN when she brought me my water, there was something black floating in it.
I ordered the pulled pork bowl and it was good, but nothing special. It tasted like something thrown together quickly without any thought having gone into it.

One of my faves! The Smokin’ Tampa Tea for Two is delicious! If you like sweet alcohol that’s the way to go! The wings are amazing, the flats breads are yummy, the chicken & waffles is a must-​try! The twisted chicken is different but a good different. So many good choices to choose from you won’t be disappointed!

We enjoy eating here! The wings & fried green tomatoes are the best. Our service has always been great. I prefer to come at lunch it is less crowded.

I have eaten here several times, and if I could sum it up in one word, I would say inconsistent. I’ve been here in the past, and its been decent.
I don’t drink soda often, so when I do, it’s a treat. I ordered a Coca Cola and it was flat. I mean flat flat! not a single bubble in the glass. A soda minus the carbonation is sugar water, or in this case syrup on ice. $ 2.69 for one non alcoholic beverage is ridiculously high, refills or not. Especially one as bad as I had this evening.
The service has always been pretty good, hence the two stars instead of one. The cleanliness is okay also.
The food is hit or miss. Tonight, the pulled pork was pretty good. My burger wasn’t good. The patty was dry and tasteless, and the lettuce was wilting. I’ve had the fries before, and they’ve been pretty good, but tonight they were cold and soggy.
I have been to this restaurant several times, hoping the bad were just flukes, but I’m going to have to assume at this point, that the good parts are the flukes. Overall, the beverage upsets me the most.

OUTSTANDING FOOD! We ordered from mobil meals! This was my first time to eat here. I loved the ribs. They melted in your mouth! I will and have returned!

HA! When out of town guests want to get food…
Man, my parents wanted some BBQ and made me pull in here. I am pleased to announce that this was my first time EVER EVER EVER going to Lee Roy Selmons. lol
However, I will say that the inside was nicer than I expected and the outside patio was also. It wasn’t very busy so we were seated immediately. My father ordered ribs and my mom and I ordered a salad. For me to say ribs are «good» first things first… those bad boys have to be FALLING OFF THE BONE. That’s always the first indication that you’re about to get some GREAT RIBS! (When I cook them… they come off the bone. OWWWWW!!) Anyone can get some sauce and slap it on some mediocre ribs… ANYONE. So, I’m just saying, the ribs here are OK. The salads were ordered… I don’t even remember. –_​– I’d try something else on the menu next time.

The food was good. The service was excellent. They offer a lot of BACON. My party ordered the fried bacon as well as the chocolate nachos with chocolate covered bacon. Both received no complaints.
Since it was our first time they gave us a trio of side to samples. The chili brisket was very tasteful. We also tried the platter which sampled meat loaf, chicken, pulled pork, and ribs. The ribs could use some improvement on the flavor and tenderness. The pulled pork was delightful. We had the smashed potatoes that were great as well.
Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and knew the menu. It was an enjoyable dinner experience.

Perhaps I should stop writing reviews for places with bad food. It’s depressing and it reminds me of the bad meal I had!
Ordered the pulled pork nachos. Been dying for good nachos since leaving CA. Waitress told me they were great, with lots of stuff on them. Hold the okra please. (Okra on nachos, ewwww). I couldn’t believe what I saw when she put them in front of me. Lots of chips, little sprinkling of pork (crispy & hard) and a little melted cheese (not queso sauce as was told there would be) she brought a tiny little side of salsa and sour cream. That’s it. It looked like a dried up mess. Sent them back, got ribs and a sweet potato. Got them very quickly and it was all cold. Butter wouldn’t even melt on the sweet potato. I ate some of it cuz I was starving, but what a disaster.
Our waitress was very nice and very accommodating, new to this restaurant she told us. The sauce on the ribs was good and they serve coke products! There are my positives. Folks may put down Sonny’s, but I’ve never had a bad meal at the Brandon location. Will stick to them if I want ribs.

The menu really wasn’t for me. It’s a sports bar with a somewhat weird menu (eg., jalapeño stuffed pretzels??). And what sports bar doesn’t have pizza? Sat on the patio, had drinks and their chicken wings (which are actually chicken tenders) and they were pretty tasty. They have 2 for 1 happy hour drinks (domestic tap and well drinks) from 4pm-​7pm, I believe.
The patio is pretty nice but if you’re a smoker, you’re gonna have to be stealthy — no smoking on the patio. The patio has couches, tables, a big flat screen and a pretty cool fireplace. Service was above average too. All in all, I’d probably go back, especially if they add cheese sticks and pizza to the menu.
