This is a review for the bar. The food is really good, I mean it is greasy fried Chinese food — so it is what it is. And it really is good. We usually get take out or something to go after a few drinks. The bar is where it’s at. I kind of consider this a hidden gem townie dive bar… Dingy room, strong drinks, cold beer, keno, and sports on the 3TV’s. Nothing that sexy. The real attraction, however, is the bartender Taylor. I’m serious, if you want to see a GREAT bartender work, come here for a drink. He isn’t the prettiest, the funniest(he is hilarious tho), or whatever else makes a bartender, but he is amazing at what he does — keeping a bar running the way it should. Honestly, a master at his craft. That is all.

The bar is outdated. I never really eat in here but the take out is usually hot and fresh. This is my favorite takeout chinese food restaurant on the south shore. I have tried many places but always come back to Tiki Palace. My favorites are beef fried rice, beef teriyaki, general gau’s chicken, BBQ ribs(bone in) and crab rangoon. The prices are reasonable and you get a good size portion. No one ever complained about leaving this place hungry. The staff is laid back, attentive but can sometimes come off as a little rude. Don’t take offense they are merely trying to serve everyone in a timely manner.

Ideal Chinese dive joint. Food is decent if your looking for something greasy. The inside is dark a little run down but ideal if you just want some mai Tais(only reason I go) i definately wouldn’t bring a date here. Staff is kinda rude on the dining side but they don’t speak much English and local underage kids are constantly trying to buy alcohol. Bar tender Yim is a bit of a sassy drunk but he’s a good time of you get to know him. Overal Open late, open on holidays, has really strong drinks for cheap and your average Chinese food.

I really hate to give anyplace a low star rating but if one deserves it it’s this place. Especially the woman at the front taking food orders. While I was looking at the menu to decide what to order this sweet little old lady walked up to retrieve her takeout. As she walked away the woman at the front desk starts yelling«your not holding it right» she runs over to her and grabs the bag from the woman and starts shaking her head. You could then hear her yelling in the back. I felt so bad I put my arm on the little old lady’s back and told her not to worry about it. After she came back out and gave the woman her bag she then began taking my order all while still shaking her head and complaining about the previous customer. Good grief!!! To top it off I ordered chicken wings, rice and chicken teriyaki and instead of getting chicken teriyaki they gave me chicken fingers. I checked this in the parking lot but didn’t go back in to have it fixed because I didn’t want to deal with the woman at the front desk. I gave it an extra star because the wings and rice were actually pretty good. I’ve also sat in the bar a few times to have a few drinks and some food and never had a negative experience, although there does seem to be some shady characters here. Bartender was always nice to me. Not a big bar but I’ve never seen it too crowded. Parkings easy. Woman at the front desk need an etiquette class! And I really wanted that teriyaki!!!

I’ve been coming to the Tiki Palace for years, and although I’ve seen the quality and value of the food decline over the past few years, I still came by, usually with out of town guests, to have a drink at the bar and share a little piece of the south shore with my friends and family. Today was my last visit. I brought a friend from Florida who had visited before a few months ago in May and enjoyed our visit to the Tiki Palace. Just like last time, and every other time I visited the restaurant, we ordered Suffering Bastards. This is my go to drink, however today it wasn’t the same. It was pink and tasted like coconut suntan lotion. I politely asked the bartender(the owner who made the drinks) if the recipe had changed. He rudely responded that he had worked behind the bar for nearly 20 years and the recipe was the same. I tried to explain that I was a regular customer and familiar with their Suffering Bastards, but he abruptly walked away before I could finish. Bottom line: Listen to your customers, especially repeat customers who are simply asking a question. If the owner doesn’t have enough respect for me to listen, he won’t get another dime from me or my family.

Definitely one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. Food is great and has always been consistent over the years.

Tried this place because our regular Chinese take out was closed for the night and I had a BAD craving for Chinese food. Let me start off by saying, this place is open late which is a plus! Parking was adequate which is also good. The food, not bad at all!!! Much to my surprise(and may I add in hesitation) the food was pretty good! We asked for our chicken wings to be xtra xtra crispy, and that’s EXACTLY what we got … Xtra xtra crispy chicken wings. They also got our order correct and gave us a more then adequate amount of xtra duck sauce … This place was not skimpy at all with giving us xtra duck sauce like many places are. I don’t think you would be disappointed if you ordered food here.

Honestly, the food is atrocious and i swear its not cooked fresh. When i walk in and sit down, there are dead flies on the damn window! They rush you to order and get very irritated when you order anything with alcohol. The food comes out quick and i mean in less than 10minutes after ordering. Thats great but its dry and tastes old. The 2 times ive been here, ive gotten very ill. Would not go here.

The Chinese Chicken Wings are on point. Crab Rangoons are decent. When I was still drinking, they served the strongest Mai Thais this side of the Charles River. No, the environment isn’t the best… and it seems on par that the guy behind the bar can be a bit brash. I suggest ordering either takeout or delivery.

I Ordered here with a few other co-workers and it was the worst decision we ever made. The food was horrible and the sweet and sour sauce was very tangy. Not worth the time, money or energy. If you’re looking for a Chinese establishment with a great reputation and great customer service then I suggest you go somewhere else even if it’s 20 minutes away!

TURNAROUNDANDGOSOMEWHEREELSE I went home for the weekend and went out with my sister and her friends. We ended up here for a few drinks. The bartender was nothing but rude the moment we got there. I needed two more seconds to figure out what I wanted but instead of going to someone else at the table, he just stormed off. I had to walk up to the bar to order my drink, where I was welcomed with a rude grunt. He came back over to the table to bring the drinks, and my sister tried to order food(even though we should have gotten the hint to leave) and instead of taking the order, he decided to yell across the restaurant how he was not a slave he was a waiter. We did not stay to finish our drinks because of this, instead we asked for our check. Instead of just printing out the check he decided to lecture us. The table next to us told us he was taking shots behind the bar all night. People like him make me wonder how that place even stays open. Where is the customer service?! You best believe I spread the word to many about how terrible our experience was. I hope this helped sway your decision. If not, you’re in for a rude awakening. We felt like we were being punk’d

If I could rate the service at this place a zero star I would. First off a large group of my friends and I showed up only to get screamed at by the bartender who appeared to have been drinking. He continued to lecture my girlfriend about how hard it is to be a waiter to the point where we had to leave. Do not waste your time and money here. Youre better off going across the street to dunkin donuts to get a coffee and a bagel. If they had any idea of how to properly manage a restaurant the bartender would no longer be employed. Congratulations on running the worst chinese food restaurant of all time.

Asked for chicken wings and the bar tender flipped out. He said we were calling him his slave. He kept yelling at us and talking back from the bar. Totally embarrassing! I couldn’t wait to get out of there. It was completely ridiculous… we thought we were on candid camera. NEVERCOMINGBACK. The table next to us said he was taking shots from the bar all night. Food isn’t great either.

I love this place for their scorpian bowls, keno, and chicken wings. If I had a bad day, I can jut come here and totally forget about life for a while and get lost in the bar that has no windows :) I wish i lived closer and could be a regular. The owner(I think he’s the owner) that is behind the bar some nights is hysterical and very nice!

Let’s be fair. Chinese food is always Chinese food. It’s always going to be the one food that’s delicious at 3am and terrible at 3pm. Every place, unless it’s going above and beyond regulations and health codes, is probably filthy as hell. Now I used to go here because it was the Chinese food restaurant that was down the street from my house. When I was old enough to drink, it was the local bar that people could drink and eat terrible food. However, you cannot say that this place has any good service. You’ll get one drink and then you’ll have to flag down a waiter to get another one. When you aren’t ready to leave, they’ll still drop off the check. The only saving grace for this place was it’s Beef Teriyaki, which was awesome, but it’s one appetizer. The one last time I went here, I was with my friend and his mom just having a drink and shooting the shit. Now, I know there’s flattery in carding someone that’s obviously not under 30, but you don’t have to harass someone’s mother when they go out for a drink with their son and his friend. I’m pretty sure this place is now for sale via Craigslist, which is embarrassing. They say they have their liquor and Keno license, but for a restaurant that is only priced at $ 180,000, with«$ 1 million revenue», some red flags pop up. I can’t say that I’ll miss this place if it turns into an annex parking lot for Dunkin Donuts, but it had good Beef Teriyaki.

An Americanized Chinese dive joint, Tiki Palace has a great name and a somewhat promising exterior that dissipates as soon as you walk in. There’s no tiki regalia inside at all, and only a few faded Chinese murals/posters scattered about on the walls in the bar and the dining room. There were also boxes piled around in odd places, which made me think they were either preparing to move or preparing to re-decorate. Or maybe it’s just a typical thing for boxes scattered around this place. In the bar, there’s a couple of plasmas and a Kino screen, and a musty smell in the air that reminded me of a 1980s video store. The bartender was friendly. I was hoping for some of the strong cocktails that the other reviewers have mentioned, so I ordered my standard Mai Tai. What I got was a pink concoction with two half-melted ice cubes and a straw. It tasted like pink lemonade with a shot each of rum and triple sec. It was perhaps the weakest Mai Tai I’ve ever had. No fruit or garnishes either. It was looking like the disappointments would just keep on coming as I was served up some food. The pepper steak was meh, but the pork fried rice and the egg rolls were pretty good. So yeah, Tiki Palace is tiki in name only, and that’s always a bummer for me. But if somebody gave these guys some cleaning products, a handful of tiki torches and definitely a new mai tai recipe, I’d give it another go. But as is… meh.

Come on Unilocalers, have you not had good Chinese food ? As usual I can tell by the Hot and Sour soup where it is going. Nothing special at all. No scallions. The two hot dishes I would order(Kung Paqo and yu shiang) both would have forced me to take chicken wings, which I do not like, so I punted with Peking Noodle. It sucked. The sauce was sortr of like lobster sauce, only redder and sweeter. Rangoons just blah. Sweet and sour chicken not good, they reported. Waiter strange dude, muttered to himself, barely understood English, and an air head. Will not return.
