Love love love the food. Great service. Great prices. Definitely a must for anyone that appreciates fresh Japanese food.

I have been coming here for many years and never been disappointed. This is like an authentic Japanese restaurant in a big city. Best sushi in Bozeman!

Rating it solely on the basis of the ramen… was in town on business and came here for the noodles(to be fair and honest I never tried anything else on the menu.) On 2 separate days had the tonkotsu ramen and the tan tan ramen. This is about as authentic as you get, especially since the owners are from southern Japan where tonkotsu is from. The broth in both cases was superb, and it’s the broth that makes the great bowl of ramen. The tonkotsu was rich and elegant, and the pork was stewed and lightly shredded and incredibly flavorful. The tan tan(a nice take on dan dan mein) equally as good, using sesame paste, chili oil, and some miso. I came a skeptic, left a big fan. Toppings were classic and simple, you come here for the noodles and broth. And you will finish every drop of soup down to the bottom of the bowl. If I could make one suggestion it would be to offer a soft boiled egg as well as hard, but plenty of places in Japan use the hard boiled egg, so no big deal.

Limit selection of raw fish. No sashimi or ungi. Don’t come here if you expect to eat some raw fish. It is more like rice bowl restaurant rather than sushi place.

This hole in the wall drowned within a strip mall of mediocre potential actually possesses genuine qualities in it’s dishes. Though far from a dining experience for the occasion, its sushi is tightly rolled, its fish is fresh, and the service is family like. The udon is a absolute must and the agedashi tofu is impeccable. Few places attain a taste for this cuisine at such an elevation.

The food is good, but the décor is pretty bland. You feel like you’re sitting at a cheap Asian take out spot.

Came in with high expectations, specifically because of the reviews on Unilocal. The group I was with were all collectively disappointed. The food was average at best, lacking flavor and quality. Not bad by any means, but nothing special. Something you would expect out of a typical hole in the wall generic Japanese restaurant. To add to the disappointment of the experience, in typical Asian restaurant fashion the poor waiter was the host, busser, and server for the entire restaurant on a Friday night. In addition to that, we overheard him saying that he was fairly new. Can’t blame the experience on the service, because the poor guy was doing his best. Overall, I’d give the food a soft 3, and the experience a solid 2. Could have made better house ramen on my stove at home, with a grilled chicken breast rather than beef that was 50% fat, and the yakisoba noodles tasted like water infused plastic with a hint of broth. Will not be going back.

Their homemade ramen is awesome. It is the best ramen that I have found in America when I have came here for 1year. The ramen is real Japanese style. Love it so much. If u like Japanese food, it deserves to try.

The best Japanese food. Very authentic in every way. A true culinary experience. Sushi is amazing. Age dashi tofu is light and flavorful. His sauces are made from scratch and so delicious. Chicken katsu is my favorite. My children love the icon.

I wanted to like this restaurant. We grabbed some takeaway after a recommendation. We ordered two spicy tuna. It was just ok. The avocado roll was spot on and good. The spider roll wasn’t good. My husband couldn’t even finish it, and the edamame was just so so. This food, to us, was just above grocery store sushi. It was just under $ 30, so not so bad. We won’t return unfortunately.

I’ve had this place on my list since I came through town for 4th of July when they were closed. Finally got to try them out this weekend and was glad it didn’t suck. The portions were on the smaller side as other reviewers have mentioned but it was manageable because the quality was pretty good. We got a couple orders of the Kumamoto pork ramen, the beef bowl, tempura shrimp, miso soup, and gyoza. The tempura wasn’t greasy but contained shrimps on the smaller side., the beef bowl was tasty, and the gyoza were good but also on the smaller side… the stand-out item proved to be the ramen as it was delicious! The broth had good flavor, the pork was tender, and the noodles were the right ones. No one else was particularly blown away by the other items, but they were much better than what can usually be found around these parts. Our waiter, a nice young man was very attentive and knowledgable so it was a pleasant dining experience as well. Overall the food was solid and I’d come back, I do wish they had this place in Billings. The bill came out to $ 53 for everything which wasn’t as expensive as one guy on here noted… I guess it depends on what you order. Note: They take all credit cards EXCEPT Amex.

Wonderful Ramen! Tastes at least as good as Ippudo in NYC, and at a lower price. Just go grab a warm bite before driving to Yellowstone as we did, and you will love it!

Fantastic food. Flawless service. Love not having to ask for sharing plates. Love a server who knows the menu and can offer suggestions. Love not being served a plate of food that could ridiculously feed three people. Could take away a star for the harsh lighting, but I find that’s typical of most Asian restaurants I’ve been to, so it wasn’t a surprise. We had the Agedashi Tofu appetizer. Chunks of tofu, delicately crisp on the outside, solid but moist on the inside. The sauce that came with it was divine. My dining companion had the Kaarage Bowl, which was AMAZING. Deep fried chicken with a soy-ginger breading. I had the Tofu Taipi-en noodles. The broth was clean and light and wonderful. We ended with a tempura banana, with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. A little rich for me, but we managed to choke it down :-)

I love this place! It’s clean, quiet, and they serve great fish. I’m always looking for new sushi places and am very pleased with this one. They have extremely competitive pricing and, in my opinion, the best cuts of fish in Bozeman. They don’t cater to the fancy specialty roll crowd, but their rolls have enough flair and are so competitively priced that they can’t be beat. I have a feeling I’ll be heading back for more sushi soon!

The biggest deterrent for my wife and I going to this place again is simply cost. It was VERY expensive for us to eat there. We ended up paying $ 51 for our dinner, which consisted of 3 rolls and a noodle soup. For the size of the rolls and the quality, I’d expect to pay more somewhere in the 30’s to feel good about it. Most rolls are over $ 10, with many of the«good» ones in the $ 14 range. For that price I’d expect either a large roll, or a very tasty roll. Unfortunately these were neither. They weren’t bad tasting, just okay, and they were much too small for what you paid for them. While I only gave it a 3 stars, based on flavor alone I’d go for Dave’s Sushi over this place as it felt like a better deal.

Ever go to a restaurant and feel like you got ripped off? The food we ordered was not bad, just small portions and high prices. For good sushi, go to Dave’s.

Kore wa hijō ni subarashi resutorandesu(this is a very nice restaurant). I had been planning to try this place for a couple years, but had never managed to squeeze it in on one of my Bozeman visits. After meeting the owners at a BBQ(who were very friendly), I made a point to finally give it a try. I had the Kumamoto Ramen(sliced roast pork, scallion, and hard boiled egg). Although it was not quite at the level of some I have recently in Denver(Izakaya Den or Bones), it was quite tasty. The noodles were rather unusual. They were not the wavy type of noodle one typically encounters in Ramen. Indeed, they were as straight as vermicelli. The owner explained to me that he imports these Ramen noodles directly from Japan and they are somewhat different and rather special. I thought they were pretty good. We split an order of the Dragon Wings. These were mildly spicy and rather sweet. I enjoyed them. At the end of the meal, the owner brought out some Mochi ice cream. This is ice cream wrapped in squishy rice dough with a sweet powdery coating. I liked the green tea and strawberry flavors, but I believe that the mango one was the standout. It is nice that you can get tasty Japanese food in Bozeman. Service was very good and I would definitely come here again.

I have been putting off this review for a while. Why? Because this is probably my favorite place to eat, but I don’t feel that I have enough to say to justify it. It’s a tiny, inconspicuous restaurant and the décor is cute but nothing much to look at. But the food is amazing! I had their Agedashi Tofu and fell in love, so simple, yet so delicious. I went on to try that dish in Hawaii, California, etc, and it is SO disappointing anywhere else after having Watanabe’s version. Their tempura vegetables and shrimp are to die for as well. Perfectly light and fluffy tempura. I can honestly say I’ve never gotten any dish that was not thoroughly enjoyed. But mainly, the SUSHI! Many people in town are unaware that they have sushi(although it’s a Japanese restaurant) and it may be the best in town. Far surpasses the sushi at other more ‘popular’ eateries. The best part of the sushi is you get a nice fish/filling to rice ratio, unlike other places where they tend to use too much rice and skimp on the good stuff. I cannot say enough good things about the food here, and it’s always consistent. The only minor con is the service is often less than superb. They’re not overly friendly, or rude in any way, just kind of there. So take that for what you will, but I find the food usually outweighs that by far.
