Ordered delivery and came fast and hot… Great food and no mistakes in order… I was impressed would definitely recommend to friends

The best I can say about this place is «meh.» It was on the way home and I was starving, so I figured I’d try it. I had the egg drop soup, the veggie lo mein, and steamed dumplings. The only thing I’d consider getting again would be the steamed dumplings, even though they weren’t anything special and the dipping sauce was really sweet. The major downside was the lack of flavor in the rest of the food: the egg drop soup was really thick and bland, and lo mein was also bland and overlooked. Unfortunately neither were worth finishing, which was disappointing because the meal cost me $ 17. I may try this place one more time since it’s so close to home and try a chicken dish or a cheap combo platter. But I’m less than excited to say the least.

This was the worst Chinese Food I have ever had the misfortune to purchase. The overall appearance of the establishment was very generic looking. Even the pictures looked like stock photos available online. But who cares what the place looks like it’s a Chinese takeout it’s about the food. I’m going to break it down for you. The hot and sour soup kept getting stuck in my throat and the complimentary fried noodles where so stale I could fold they without snapping. The vegetable fried rice tasted overly greasy and at least 3 days old (just reheated). The sweet and sour chicken was overcooked and reminded me of zepolis (Italian fried dough) with small dried chicken pieces in the batter like center. Even the fortune cookies didn’t have fortunes in them. None of this is an exaggeration I will not be returning to the Golden Phoenix even if it rises up from its chard ashes.

Completely dissatisfied! There are many chinese food restaurants yet this restaurant was very disappointing.

Change in the menu prices. No new menus have been printed. Smaller portions on the dinner meals. I’m a big guy and it would take me at least 2 days to put down a dinner combo meal (even at my hungriest). Flavor is still there, just wish I knew about the changes before I ordered. Final check came in $ 8 more than I expected. While that might be a big deal in the grand scheme of things, it was still a shock.

I tried this place today after prospecting the area for a good Chinese restaurant.
I love Chinese food. I received the food quickly (probably less than 10 minutes), but sadly, this place was very disappointing in terms of Food quality.
I ordered the Honey Garlic Chicken Dinner combination, Came with Pork Fried Rice, Wonton Soup, egg roll and the main dish of Honey Garlic Chicken.
The Chicken was well over cooked (Considering that this is the same chicken used for Sweet and Sour chicken, you have an idea of how the texture should be. It was over-​fried and was an unpleasant crispy. This was also the case with the egg roll. It was overly greasy and there was a small pool of grease at the bottom of the egg roll’s pouch. The pork fried rice was was also over cooked. It’s possible that the cooking grease was dirty at the time I went, so all the items just came out terribly.
The wonton soup was the only good item. The broth was thin, as it should be and there were a total of 4 wontons. Definitely more than I usually receive in a small wonton soup (Normally 2).
Overall, I will look elsewhere for my Chinese food. Unless I feel like Soup.
Pro: Fast Service and Good Soup.
Con: Greasy egg rolls. Small portions. Rice was overcooked.

Tried this place when I first moved to Boynton Beach. It is next to my local Publix. I was checking out the menu board when I overheard the customer in front of me talking to the owner about the Singapore Cho Mei Fun. I had never heard of it, but the guy was saying he got it a couple times a week. So I ordered it on a whim, and WOW what a dish. Took one home to my wife and now that is all she will order. This place isn’t across the board good, it’s just a take out joint. But the service is very friendly, the owner learns his regulars very quickly, and I know of no place else that can serve the Singapore. Give it a try, it’s worth it.

My family and I eat from here regularly and while the kids love the house special rice, chicken wings, and egg rolls my wife and I like to experiment with different things. They are very consistent, super friendly, and if you have questions they are happy to answer them. Price is reasonable and they always have coupons for free items over different spend categories which is really nice. Never had a bad experience and they deliver super quick as well. It is more American style Chinese food so you have to know what you are ordering. Example: Authentic chinese chow mein contains noodles. American Chinese chow mein is usually made with cabbage and is an all veggie affair until you add the meats you want. If you want noodles you want Lo Mein. Just an FYI… Big fan and my family is as well!

I decided to give Golden Phoenix a second try and I’m glad I did. Went with the lunch special and tried the General Tso’s chicken. Just the right amount of spicyness without the overpowering breading of the chicken.
The rice is equally good. I chose the pork fried rice and enjoyed my meal overall.
My colleagues had the shrimp fried rice with broccoli and it looked and smelled amazing.

I think everyone needs to be realistic with their expectations. This is Chinese (really American Chinese) takeout; if you’re expecting some mind blowing authentic cuisine, this is not for you. But if you’re looking for cheap, filling, tasty Chinese takeout then this is the place for you. The prices are reasonable, there are lots of tofu and other vegetarian options, and the people who work there are reasonably friendly. They’re also not stingy with the sauce packets, fortune cookies, and crispy noodles. I’ll be back. Really this is a 3.5 star place.

been taking out from here for a couple years now and ive been to other places in the area for the price the food is great and like some others say its hit or miss but 8 out of 10 times i take out the food is great

I have had Golden Phoenix over a dozen times. It is my bosses favorite Chinese food, but I don’t find it to be anything special. He loves their ribs, soups, spring rolls, lo mein, chicken dishes, etc.
I have tried most all of them and find them to be subpar compared to other nearby Chinese joints. Mostly, I find that their veggies aren’t very fresh.
Their prices are very good though and I will continue to come here until my boss finds something he likes better.

The food is delicious! I’m partial to the Mein Fun. The employees are pretty friendly. They always hook it up. I was short a few cents for an egg roll once and the dude totally took care of me. Service like that makes a huge difference. Bonus: Their rice is good and not hard like at other places and the portions will most definitely leave you with leftovers for second dinner. Take all the stars, plz.

I am a regular customer at this restaurant, the food is great and they have very affordable lunch and dinner specials. The fried rice, lo mein, general tso, and wings are very delicious with generous portions.

The only reason why this place is getting 2 stars and not 1 star is because it’s consistent in one thing I appreciate (and only one thing): the soups. The egg-​drop and wonton soup consistently hit the spot when you want something warm and soothing.
HOWEVER, nothing else on the menu ever seems to be satisfactory. I honestly don’t know why I keep coming back. Probably because it’s cheap and quick. Cheap because they have dinner and lunch combos that give you a crapload of food, although far less than mediocre, hence the choice of word ‘crapload’.
Coming from San Francisco, when my cravings for Chinese food come, they are strong and visceral. Tonight, I was craving noodles and missing home. After trying to find something good in the area on Unilocal,I failed and ended up back at Golden Phoenix. I ordered the Beef Chow Mein dinner combo. As I was heading back home with my giant paper bag, I had a uneasy feeling that I was going to be disappointed again.
Disappointed is an understatement. I opened up my chow mean container and the first word to come to my mouth was «SLOP.» Meager pieces of overcooked beef, celery slices, and bean sprouts were sitting in a pool of thick, unseasoned sauce. WHERE THE HELL WERE THE NOODLES!!! At first I thought that the noodle: other stuff ratio was immensely small, but then I realized that I was mistaking bean sprouts for noodles. There were ZERO noodles in my chow mein. I was furious.
Of course I ate my celery and beef bits cuz I was starving, but now I’m sitting here, writing this review in a huff, and thinking about what I’m going to have to get for my second dinner because I am so grossly unsatisfied.

The best Chinese food in palm beach county… this place is amazing… all of there food is made fresh daily i have seen them making dumpling fresh. There food actually has taste. May be the other person who reviewed was looking for bland food so yeah keep looking cause this place is not bland at all. You must try the chow mei fun you’ll be hooked…
