Great park with plenty of parking. We visited this park about 3 times during our weeks stay in Buzzards Bay. Once just to sit and picnic on the greens while taking in the scenes, another to hop on the bike path and once more just to fish the canal. This park, the canal and bike path pretty much merge into one awesome spot when you’re in the area. Park and lot was well maintained and was always immaculate.

This is a really important park! It’s the only open space of it’s kind in the area. There’s a pizza shop and an ice cream shop right on the same street too. I’m thankful for this space because it’s where we take my mother in law to get away from the nursing home and get some fresh air and sunshine!

Canals bridges and scallops Buzzards Bay Park is a small park located right at the start of the Cape Cod Bike Path and next to the Cape Cod Canal. There isn’t all that much in the park, just some benches, a nice gazebo and some flowers. What the park does have is incredible views of the canal with it’s cool ships and the huge and imposing railroad bridge. The bridge was built in 1933 and is still the second longest vertical lift bridge in the world. Unfortunately it serves only tourists and trains hauling garbage off the Cape. Considering the horrific traffic problem the Cape has during the summer with the two car bridges, it’s a shame they can’t use the railroad and bridge for a more pragmatic purpose. The park is a nice place to park for a ride along the bike path or to simply watch the canal and bridge. It usually has a cool breeze even in the hottest weather and is an easy walk to the shops and restaurant in town. During the summer months concerts, cultural events and the annual scallop festival take place here and of course then the whole area is packed. However most times you can have the park pretty much to yourself since most people are more intent on going other places close to but not actually in the park. A nice, quiet, pleasant little park to watch and look at the many things going on all around it.
