We were never acknowledged when we walked in the store. I couldn’t even tell who worked there and who was shopping. They had some fantastic deals on t-shirts and underwear but that is all that was going for them. One star for really comfortable clothes. My company used to use American Apparel for their uniforms and I still wear them from time to time. Another star for having a local establishment so people don’t have to wait for shipping from the website.

An American Apparel that has super nice people? What? Totally threw me off. I really was expecting the regular bunch of «I’m better than you» hipsters. As for the clothes, they have what every AA store has, so the service is what makes the difference.

Sometimes I look in the display windows and want to buy stuff here because of how the clothes look on the mannequins. Then I go into the store and try some stuff on. Then I realize that nothing in there will look good on me unless my BMI drops into the ‘dangerously underweight’ range, that all the shirts and dresses are made of material thin enough that the exact shape of my nipples ceases being a mystery to the general public, and that the price for this dress sized, paper-thin, ill-fitting, undecorated piece of cotton is $ 40. And THEN… I walk out. Only to suffer amnesia the next time I walk by the display windows.

Last year, I was dragged into the Denver American Apparel by a suitor who epitomized the whole American Apparel persona. And I vowed I would never go back. To him or American Apparel. And I stuck to my guns. Kind of. I never went back to the Denver store(or him), but I had to see what was up in Boulder. It reminded me why I must stick to my promises. Never again, American Apparel. Never again. Paradoxically, it’s cheap overpriced stretchy fabric meant to fit over a body of only skin and bones. I guess it’s just some type of «scene.» Doesn’t really fit in Denver, but this definitely fits Boulder. The staff acknowledged me when I came in, but left me alone to shop in misery. Perhaps they knew that I am not an American Apparel aficionado and that I just needed a reminder as to why I do not shop here. It is nice to know where I can get some unisex gold lamay booty shorts. Apparently, the return policy is exchange or store credit only. Just to let you know. Additionally, don’t get too excited over the AA ads, which occasionally show a nipple or butt cheek(WHAT? That’s preposterous!). Get over it. And if you think it’s petty of me to give this store one star because I don’t like the«character» of the brand, oh well. It’s a chain. Boo-freaking-hoo.

I’m so happy to see my L.A. staple here!!! I don’t have to drive out to Denver for this so that makes me a happy person. I liked how the girls there just left me alone while I shopped for over an hour. I don’t like it when people keep asking me how I’m doing. I love their Tap Panties. They’re so comfortable and good quality.
