Evergreen Academy Elementary School

We had our son at Evergreen Academy for 1 year. At our sons previous school he tested advanced. We decided to move him to Evergreen Academy thinking that this school would have more opportunities to move his education forward. His teacher was very nice and we are happy with her. What we didn’t expect would be the schools tolerance for violence from other kids.
Our son was the target of a child with compulsive violent outbursts. It’s started with a shoving and tackling incidents on the playground and ended with another concussion incident. They did nothing but defend and protect the child with the behavior issues and nothing to help or make my son feel protected. The principle actually told me that it couldn’t be called bullying be cause my son was taller then the other child and that their are certain criteria that has to be met in order to call it bullying. If it were anywhere but a school this behavior would be called assault but because it’s at school and my son was taller, they essentially did nothing but talk to the parents and say they are working with the child’s family to help resolve the issues.
In interviewing 5 other schools after the last incident, every single principal stated these situations were completely handled inappropriately by Evergreen Academy. Violence is always a ZERO tolerance and an automatic suspension, regardless of what lead up to it. By not suspending the child they are essentially accepting the behavior and downgrading it’s seriousness. The other schools were not surprised that it escalated. They were all appalled at the actions of the principal and staff and stated I should contact Noble (the company who owns school) and tell them of the situation. I have not done this as it’s a cooperation and I’m sure they could care less.
Although we go lucky with a very nice teacher the amount that we paid for EA did not justify the education. It’s unfortunate because we really wanted it to work out for our son here. I would not recommend this school to any of my friends.
Thankfully our son tested into the Quest program and we are hopeful he will grow and thrive their. At least we know he will be safe and that violence will not be tolerated.

My child attended Evergreen Academy for 4 years. Evergreen Academy is owned by Nobel (corporate entity) Quality of teachers has diminished over the years. Likely due to low pay and being overworked. They now hire young people with no experience which resembles junior high. Lots of gossip, hiring of friends etc. New administration is top down, they treat the teachers, parents, and students with no respect. The curriculum has become mediocre especially for the cost. Basically a glorified kinder care. Math and grammar are especially weak when students transfer into other public or private schools. They don’t publish test scores because they are below average. The school doesn’t accommodate high performing students or vice versa students with disabilities. (They were sued for it) if you are happy with mediocre and don’t complain at all you will do just fine here. if you do complain be prepared to take your children out immediately. They have dismissed (kicked out of the school) many families over the past year. Children are caught in the middle and most certainly their best interest isn’t taken into consideration. The school was and has the potential to be a great school but not with the régime that is in place now. Disappointing and shameful…
