The worst service I have ever experienced at a bar. We went out with a small group and the bar was fairly busy. After the bartenders made eye contact with us 2 or 3 times as if they were going to take our drink order, they continued to ignore us. Finally after ordering drinks, they didn’t inform my friend they were out of whichever drink she requested. Instead of offering or suggesting another drink she continued to ignore my friend as if she never ordered. We sat and waited for over 45 minutes for a round of shots. Then, while my friend voiced her opinion, she was thrown out of the bar for not being served? Inadequate bar staff… So rude. Never going back, and never suggesting this bar again. No wonder this is the slowest bar in Fanueil hall.

Awful. Said they were at capacity, then let a bunch of people in in front of us. When we got in the pipes were leaking…

I’m not entirely sure what was going on at The Hideout. I went on a Saturday afternoon when there happened to be a ton of bar crawls in Fanuiel Hall, and The Hideout seemed to only have one bartender on staff. Woof. I know. That’s ok, we didn’t have to wait too long for our drinks. But when mine came… I’m not sure there was any alcohol in it! I’m not a very good drinker in the sense that I can handle my drinks… I like to err on the side of a lighter pour, but this was just pitiful. There was barely a hint of cranberry vodka involved. And I wasn’t the only one who complained, several members of my party were confused. While the venue was clean and nicely lit, I believe it’s new, our main business is your drinks… make sure your customer gets one. And maybe someone called out last minute, but it seemed like a good weekend to bulk up on staff. Sadly, about half a shot was added to my drink(Triple 8 Cranberry and soda). At $ 8 a pop, thats a tough hand!

So I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews but I wouldn’t mind going to this place again, and again. We went on a Saturday night around 830⁄9 and it was pretty slow. Usually a bad sign and at first I was second guessing my decision to give it a try. It definitely has a ‘dive’ feel, but I don’t mind that at all. The bartender was pretty friendly and drinks weren’t too overpriced, however the beer selection was odd. What I was really surprisingly pleased with were the oysters on the half shell. I love oysters and I was really skeptical about ordering them here because let’s be honest– oysters are not bar food… But surprisingly they were some of the best oysters I had that weekend. It was easy to sit at this bar and drink and watch the game and just enjoy the bar snacks.

Being the typical tourists, we took the Freedom Trail that inevitably leads you to Quincy Market. What a scam, eh? History, history, history, BAM! A convenient market to buy overpriced chain food! :) I jest though, I love touristy stuff and Quincy Market was kinda neat. but I was a little disappointed. I expected a market more like Reading Terminal Market in Philly that at least seems to be more local, mom & pop type of foods. Quincy was a lot of chains and stuff looked and smelled really good, but it just wasn’t what we were looking for. So we left and started walking around the area. Dick’s Last Resort? Really? Bah. So we stumbled upon The Hideout and decided to just stop for a cheap drink. The place was pretty dead considering how PACKED the rest of the area was, but still had a decent crowd. The downside is that there was literally only 1 guy staffing the entire place. Yep, 1 guy on a Saturday night during Boston Marathon weekend. Service was really really slow, but not for the lack on his part. This guy was hauling ass to get everyone served. He even gave us an awesome recommendation for the Grey Lady Ale which I loved. We tried a variety of beers(they had a good selection) and then decided to go ahead and order food anyway. We got the shrimp scampi and the Boston Baked Beans(I know, I know, I complain about tourists above and then order freakin’ Baked Beans at a bar). The guy took our order and it was a couple rounds of drinks before they came out. The scampi came first and crap!.. it was actually good! I know I’m biased because Boston’s worst seafood is Kansas City’s best seafood, but the shrimp in the scampi were really good. I loved the addition of capers in the scampi which I haven’t seen before(granted my scampi knowledge is limited). We really liked this dish. The beans took forever to come out. and once they did, the waiter/bus boy/cashier/bartender/onemanshow comped them for us which was really nice. They were meh, but hey, I can now say I had Boston Baked Beans in Boston. :) Despite the staffing woes, this place was fun and legit. I liked the beers and we had a good time talking and people watching. I’d come back here!

Love this place! The suspect Open Mic on Thursday is a great showcase for some of Boston’s best up & coming comics; & a very supportive atmosphere for new comers. The most important thing to remember is, this is a neighborhood watering hole even though it’s in Boston’s biggest tourist trap. If you want or expect Michelin 3 start service might I suggest something other than a neighborhood bar. in other words, lower your expectations it’s a bar. The bartenders have always been great to my friends and i. They work hard and deserve all the credit we can give them

This place is not for your typical Faneuil hall patron. It is a dive in the middle of a tourist area. I think it is an oasis considering it is in between Dicks Last Resort and the Hard Rock Café. Stand Up Comedy on Thursday is great considering it is a free show. The bartender is super nice, I think his name is Ted. Don’t go expecting a great dining experience or a t-shirt you can buy and you will enjoy the Hideout.

Wasn’t a big fan of this one at all, I can smell weird miles away even if I’m from Jersey. I think we stayed for one round and high tailed it out of there, a lot more options to explore in the area.

Was in the area and wanted to have a quick beverage and wasnt feeling like a restaurant bar/lounge establishment. Loved the out of way location of this place & had a great time. Angry Orchard and Jameson on hand. Place wasnt busy on a Saturday night but that all changed within about 30 minutes. Lone bartender tried his best to keep the drinks flowing & think he did a great job. TV had the Bruins on. had a great time!

Service is slow as a result of having one bartender managing the whole place. Boston is full of bars, probably won’t be coming back to this one.

Went mid day with my Fiancée. Was a good way to beat the heat being in a cool basement like bar… only 2 other people in there but it was mid day,. The bartender John was friendly.

I’ve been to this bar 3 times and received TERRIBLE service and bad attitudes from the bartenders every time. To top off my last and FINAL experience, they decided to shout last call for the bar at 12:50am on a Saturday night??? As everyone was having to chug their $ 6 beers that they just ordered, the bartender was yelling obscenities such as «get the f*ck out of here» to the customers as they kicked everyone out of the bar at 1:00am. ABSOLUTELY the most absurd/inappropriate experience I’ve ever had at a bar. Will never, ever return again.
