The only reason I come back over and over again to this location is simply: PROXIMITY. It is literally on BU campus and the staff are BU students(or most of them i presume), which is exactly why you shouldn’t come in here hopeful of a great cup of coffee. 3 star breakdown: 1) With every cup of coffee, I’ve had it taste 100% different from the previous time I’ve had it from this location. There is a lack of consistency in the quality and taste of the Starbucks drink you order… the staff seem to be lackadaisical of how or what they are making… but who can blame them! I feel for them. 2) SUPERCROWDED. The lines are out the door during the peak morning rush and mid-afternoon crash hours. aka do not come between(8AM to 9:3ish AM) and(3PM — 4ish PM). 3) the one PRO of this location is: the CLEANLINESS of the bathrooms! so much cleaner compared to the Starbucks in West campus next to Chipotle and Panera. ***must have bathroom key to access the bathrooms, which is hanging on the wall beside the cashier register.

Never thought I’d review a Starbucks since chains are usually consistent. I’ve been ordering a triple shot of espresso over ice with toffee nut for a long time now and at several locations, including in a Target and it always comes to $ 3.15. In this location they were charging me almost double that and was told at this location they charge 1.75 for every shot. I get that if it was at an airport since it’s always more expensive, but this is just a reg stand alone location. And the barista had a horrible attitude on top of that.

Absolute worst customer service at a Starbucks and quite frankly any coffee shop or business I’ve ever been to. The red head employee rudely responded after a simple question of whether or not they have unsweetened iced coffee and acted as if I was dumb when I get unsweetened iced coffee at every other Starbucks. She told me they didn’t have that and then the coffee called out before me was labeled unsweetened. So, I asked again thinking she heard me wrong and she threw her hands in the air and said«I already told you we don’t do that» and made everyone stare and it was completely embarrassing. I replied to her that she was extremely rude and should not be working in customer service and left the store and called the manager who talked to her and said she apologized because they do actually carry unsweetened iced coffee. SERIOUSLY??? This lady made a whole scene in Starbucks and made herself look like a fool and she was wrong the whole time. I work in customer service and if I was ever unsure of what was on the menu I would ask someone else and not be so unprofessional and rude. I still cannot get over that experience at this Starbucks and I will not be going back there ever again. Don’t waste you’re time unless you want someone to ruin your day. Oh, and the coffee was horrible.

I was here a few times, drinking a delicious starbucks drink, and charging my phone while i walked around boston. The crowd was great, the baristas friendly, and overall a great experience.

The staff here is very nice for the most part, and some of the bad apples seem to have been weeded out recently(seriously, only the strong survive as baristas in this location, given how INSANE the line gets, and hello Miss Mary Sue get off your effing phone and talk to the PERSON serving you your drink!) That said, I have noticed that occasionally they can run light with the beverages and sometimes do not fill to the line.(overfoam the hots, over-ice the colds) If you ask for ‘light ice’(as, let’s face it, half the cup is ice and I’m not paying 4 bucks for a cup of ice) on an iced tea some of the staff don’t fill it to the brim. Once I asked the barista to fill it and the(redhead) got really snippy about THAT’S HOWIT’S MADE. Ok, I was a barista at Starbucks a million years ago. I’m aware of how these things are made. I know to ask for my chai latte with no water if I want a bigger punch of flavor. I know the 3−4−5 ratio of syrups and I know that people cheat lattes by asking for iced americanos with room and then raid the milk at the service station to make low-rent lattes. I’m aware. I’m also aware that the attitude is unprofessional and you DO fill the cup even if they ask for light ice. Don’t like it? Don’t be a barista. It’s not easy, god knows I hated it. I’m sympathetic to dealing with attitude all day, but if I ask nicely to please fill it(considering there was a huge gap), then you should fill it. In my experience, a drink that is over-foamed or over-iced, it’s the product of someone not feeling like making more base for the tea or getting more milk from a back fridge. I’ve found better quality at the Kenmore location — but they do not have nearly the volume. Also, you’re not going to get a seat here unless it’s during a break in the semester. And if you DO get a seat, you will have people bumping your seat as they get their drinks, etc. It’s not a very large space for the volume they do. So, banish all thoughts of catching up with someone over coffee here, better off seeking more quiet places. That said, when it’s good it’s excellent and most of the team is really solid.(I think the chick with the attitude is either off day shift or she’s gone) 3 stars because they move that line FAST, most of the staff is excellent and drinks turn out excellent more often than not… and because I cannot imagine handling the load they handle.

This place is usually hit or miss. Sometimes I get decent drinks and other times I end up taking a sip and throwing it away. The staff here are much slower and not as friendly so don’t expect great service or a quick grab and go. It’s a toss up so I would only go here if you’ve got no other options.

The only reason I go to this Starbucks is when I need a quick fix of espresso or chai before my class. But after a long day of work, I needed some caffeine before I endured a 3-hour long class. I mistakenly didnt ask for an iced drink(I thought I did!), and instead got a hot drink. When I mentioned that I thought I ordered otherwise(with no attitude), the grumpy brunette barista made a snide comment about how i should have said i wanted it iced. I would have accepted the hot drink seeing as it was likely my mistake. I reached out and even picked it up to take it. But after that comment, i decided to let her make me the drink anyway. I’m not one to cause a scene anymore, but that was incredibly unprofessional. I shouldn’t be disrespected after a minor mistake. I didnt kill anyone, so quite frankly, I could have done without the attitude. You’re not the only one who has had a long day, lady. Don’t act like your job is so high stress that no one can possibly feel the same way at their job. As others have said, this place is hit or miss, and it is definitely dependent on who is working and how well they know how to whip up a drink.

Not the best Starbucks, but not the worst. Important thing to know: as Dave mentioned, this place is owned by BU. As such any Gold or Green card members won’t get any benefits from their cards(e.g., discounts for soy milk or flavor shots).

As Starbucks locations go, this one is sort of hit-or-miss, depending on when you visit. It’s a franchise owned and operated by Boston University(in Warren Towers, where the Taco Bell used to be), and at times you can tell: the staff all work for BU, not Starbucks… so they don’t get the same training as at a regular Starbucks, and they’re not subject to the same quality control standards. Most of the time, the drinks come out fine… but sometimes, there are problems. If you get a latte, check how heavy the cup feels when you pick it up… it may look full, but if it doesn’t feel as heavy as it should, they over-foamed your milk. If you were to leave it sitting untouched for five minutes and then check it again, you’ll find the cup half-empty after the milk settles. Those are the sort of issues this location goes through. Also, by afternoon the pastry case will be half-empty and not restocked with afternoon items, like the way a regular Starbucks strives to keep the case always full and replaces the breakfast items with dessert items by around midday. They have a very limited selection of beans(only what’s on the shelves), because this location is strictly a «grab a coffee and go» place. The milk stations are frequently dirty with overflowing trash. If you’re extra skittish about germs, be aware that I’ve frequently noticed employees scooping ice with beverage cups, instead of using the scoop according to health department requirements. I’ve never considered it important enough to report them for, but I am aware they’re doing it the wrong way… so consider yourself warned. And the bathroom key is often left right on the counter… that’s a little gross. This location accepts BU meal plan«Convenience Points.» That means that between class breaks it’s VERY full with students, because they can have mommy and daddy pay for their ridiculously overpriced $ 5 beverages simply by showing their student ID card. So at times, the line will snake all the way to the door.
